Forbes reports that the ACA has saved 50,000 lives and billions in costs. A great success story http://www.forbes.com/sites/bruceja...alties-help-save-12-billion-save-50000-lives/
Now, if only those states (all run by Republicans) would step up and help their people, just think how many more would be saved. <sigh>
You're wrong. It's saving the wrong kind of lives. The people worth saving would already have health insurance.
L M F A O!! Hospitals have been practicing decreasing nosocomial infections years before the ACA was even thought of!! My hospital and others in my area have been doing this for a few decades and to say it was all because of this joke called the ACA is pathetic grandstanding and a blatant lie! But it must be true. It was on the internets......
Forbes reported this: The Obama administration today said 50,000 fewer patients died in hospitals and $12 billion in “health care costs were saved” due in part to initiatives woven into the Affordable Care Act that helped reduce hospital-acquired infections from 2010 to 2013. and, stating the obvious, there's a huge difference between "ACA saves 50,000 lives" & "50,000 fewer patients died in hospitals". Nice spin though.
there is ni difference, none nada zip. if someone doesnt die they lived. - - - Updated - - - I see, you just want certain lives saved - - - Updated - - - you are warping and distorting what the article said.
Everyone knows Obama would never lie about anything....its just that he isnt so good at explaining his truths.
This is one of the silliest articles I've read all year, to wit: Infections acquired included everything from an illness acquired from a misplaced catheter to acquiring the superbug known as MRSA. 0bamacare helps in keeping catheters from being misplaced. OK, then, now I get it. lolol
No, I see no difference. Dead is dead; alive is alive. Without the ACA, there'd be 50K more deaths; with it, 50K more people live to see another day. That, to me, is "lives saved".
$12 billion saved in health care costs is enough to persuade a die-hard Conservative that ACA is beneficial.
On theory, yes; in practice (or in the real world, no) because the sad fact is that when it comes to hating Obama to the core of their being, they'll take ruining one of his signature accomplishments over saving money (no matter how much) any day of the week. It is why I have lost all respect for that party and will NEVER vote for one of them again unless and until they start working for everyone in this country, not just a privileged few.
The dangerous hospital systems' administrative response is to refuse to identify hospital-acquired infections and abandon the patients.
the most recent death data is 2011. the death rate is going down...The ACA was rolled out in the fall of 2013. there is no evidence to support your.....................conclusion. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr63/nvsr63_03.pdf
The law that sticks a gun to the head of its' citizenry and forces them to purchase a private service has cost me an additional $6000 since 2013.
forbes isn't "reporting this"... they are repeating whitehouse claims they made in a press release... and if you study the infection rates before and after the ACA... they were already falling... so this isn't a newly created result of the ACA... hospitals were already spending hundreds of millions of dollars on new technology to disinfect their facilities to reduce infections caused by merely going to the hospital... maybe you've seen some of the UV robots that are sent into rooms after they are cleaned with traditional methods, then the robots spend an additional 5-10min in the room zapping everything with UV to kill anything living... same thing with changing the touching surfaces with new paints, metals, and textures that resist bacteria and don't allow it to grow on its surface... so this is not some new trend started thanks to the ACA... this was the advancements of technology that hospitals have been adapting the past decade and naturally lowering these rates prior to the ACA... way to take credit for doing nothing... don't trust me, review the stats they've been releasing showing a steady decline prior to this 3 year period they are taking credit for... they weren't compelled or forced into doing this by the ACA, they were naturally doing this to lower their costs to save money! P.S. read the next ACA story that appears right below your link... http://www.forbes.com/sites/brucejapsen/2015/11/06/humana-will-yank-obamacare-plans-serving-100000-patients-in-2016/ humana yanking 100k obamacare patients... LOL... it doesn't get funnier then that... a story "proving" it works, then a story "proving" it doesn't... thats TOO funny... 100,000 more people being dumped by insurance companies getting rid of obamacare products... NICE... P.S.S. here are some CDC government reports so you don't call me a liar and try to defend the ACA as the cause of this... they have results going back to 2008 on many of the issues... showing a 46% decrease since 2008 in one category, as well as others... so please don't try to use cherrypicked stats as proof the ACA works... http://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2015/p0114-mrsa-hospitals-report.html and plenty of other links you can click and review stats if you want... http://www.cdc.gov/HAI/surveillance/ at the bottom of you scroll down you can find the link going back to the 2002 report if you want... enjoy your bull(*)(*)(*)(*) cherrypicked stats... they've been decreasing for over a decade as the result of new technology being used, not the ACA... stop taking credit for someone elses work...
To the Libs the cost in inconsequential as it's more important that crack whores and loafers get free 'gravy' from 'da Man'!!
Wrong! You don't know that without the ACA 50,000 would be dead or alive! It's nuts to make a claim like you're making.
From your story: The Obama administration today said 50,000 fewer patients died in hospitals and $12 billion in health care costs were saved due in part to initiatives woven into the Affordable Care Act that helped reduce hospital-acquired infections from 2010 to 2013" In other news: Obama administration says, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor... Gimmi a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing break?
Sorry, but saying 50,000 fewer died in hospitals isn't the same as saying 50,000 fewer people died, it just means they less died IN THE HOSPITAL. Come on, it's really not that hard to figure this out.
Yeah. Remember when they claimed millions and millions of "green jobs" created? Then it turned out it wasn't millions, it was a few hundred thousand. Then it turned out they were claiming janitors as a "green job". I believe all the pronouncements about the benefits of the ACA as much as I believe the predictions of calamity from the "global warming" hoaxers. Oh, and did you see that the costs to patients of the lowest price silver and bronze plans is skyrocketing? http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2015-11-03/cost-of-cheapest-obamacare-plans-is-soaring And did you see Obama in a news conference threatening people who didn't sign up for Obamacare...how he was going to chase them down and fine them? Good stuff.
