Why are the same people who said that the border should be closed and any people wanting to come into the country should be assessed in their own country first, are now saying that those same people who are assessed in their own country should be banned from coming into the country?

Ps they are not illegal if they have applied through legal means, but hey, there is an agenda to maintain

You cannot apply for asylum unless you are A) already in the country illegally or B) at a registered port of entry. You damn sure can't apply for it when you're in Venezuela.

Trump promised to build a wall to block illegal entry, and make the Mexicans pay for it. Some thought he meant they would write a check, but the real plan was in terms of tariffs and trade rules.
Despite immense obstruction by the democrats, he was getting it done... slowly but surely.

Now, Joe has put us in a different position. He opened the flood gates- and it's turning into a national disaster that they can't stop without recognizing their responsibility for it.
Kind of like- Joe gave away the power to control the border. Gave away- America's security, which has not gone unnoticed.

Today, the President of Mexico is using the migrant flow to blackmail the US.
He says the flow will continue-unless the US meets his demands. Those include-

$20 Billion in aid per year
Granting some level of amnesty to illegal immigrant workers in the U.S.

    ^Fake claim
"If they don’t do those things, will you continue to help to secure the border?"
"Yes, because our relationship is very important," Obrador replied. "It is fundamental."

Like DeSantis wants to do? Sir or madam, on that, we are in agreement. I do not understand what people find appealing about a short, whiny little fascist like Ron.

What the hell makes you think I'm Australian?

For the record my family has been here in the US since the 1600s

Their FIRST obligation is to the US Constitution. The right wing seems to think that elected officials have a primary obligation to serve their whack-a-doodle demands.

Nope, born and raised in NH. My family has been in NE since the 1600s. A distant great aunt was one of the ones hung as a witch in Salem MA

Not how our legal system works. The most recent ruling is the one that is in effect until (and IF) it is overturned by a higher court. A question is only "open" when the court has heard arguments and has not yet rendered a decision.

And now that we have determined that I'm not Australian then my take on OUR Constitution is not based on "ignorance".

The point of the Constitution is to set the rules by which the American government is to operate. THAT is what people in Congress swear an oath to. Not to the crack pot wishes of the extreme right wing.

And it means they are legal until a court says otherwise.

The alternative offered by Democrats was a man who would go on to be found passed out naked in a pool of his own vomit in a motel room with meth and a male prostitute and dildos.

Probably still appealing to the average dem.

    Nope.

    Really pretty simple.

How is this policy good for the United States?

Very simple question. If you ever elect to defend this action based on its merit.

It's a radical idea to have and enforce immigration policy that makes sense for our country.... like every other country does across the globe?

    It is?

The Center for Immigration Studies article says CBP approved flights that brought 320,000 to the United States last year. The author, Todd Bensman, learned they came to 43 airports but the government refused to divulge which ones, citing an exemption under the Freedom of Information Act for law enforcement-sensitive information.

The Biden Administration declines to tell us where they are coming from, but we are just supposed to believe these people all paid for their own international flights.

    Lol.

    Yeah right.

We the PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, in order to form a more perfect union for US and OUR prosperity....

It's pretty clear who it's intended to benefit.
