Nobody has to wait a year. Wait times are between 90-120 days.

So that's what we should do.

Sure. Lobby your congressman to repeal the NFA act.

Which is still unacceptably long in all cases.

Most people accept it. It’s why there’s no push for congress to repeal the NFA.

Not saying I agree with the NFA, just that the process is quite easy. It’s not like someone’s life is hanging on the line while they wait. They are able to buy any non class 3 firearm they want for lawful purposes.

Yes, as per the terms of the contract you agreed to.

Right, they said there was a contract. I wish I could make a contract like that. I'd be rich!

Right. They said that was part of the contract. It's good to be the Mafia, right?

So there are super-special people who can tell us we entered into a contract. They must be very happy. And rich.

You of course voluntarily agreed to the contract. It’s why you’re still in The US and paying your taxes.

What you suggest falls somewhere highly improbable to literally impossible here in Florida. Our schools are, for the most part anyway, built in a very open, modular design. Multiple buildings, each with multiple entry points, not to mention windows. To secure them like this would require a small army of guards and dozens of machines per school. And DOD money would never be used for that in the first place, it's a State/Local expense. As for stores, please. They're not even allowed to ban guns, and they would certainly be given government money to buy detectors.

Sadly, I must agree. It's too late, the cat is out of the bag.

Still, it could work to mitigate future "rates of kill" somewhat ...

Have you ever tried to get a gun into a place that has state-of-the-art metal detection? Along with a law that forbids guns made completely of non-metals?

Obviously not. Besides, most Kids aren't that smart. Grownups are. Who votes-in the people that have the responsibility for school safety? Grown-Ups do.

Yes, indeed, they are in fact More Valuable. Why the difference therefore?

Because we-the-sheeple decide our local/state governments when we go to the polls. And we elect people who don't give a damn about gun-control - out of some whacky notion that guns are "absolutely necessary for self-preservation". Which they aint ... !

    My Point:
*Americans watch too much TV. And on that TV they see people firing machine-guns in far too many movies. Many say, "Hey, that's cool! I want somma that!"
*So, they go out and buy automatic weapons and parade them around. (Not understanding evidently that some Whacko-Kids will take it in their deranged mind to "even the score" with their classmates!)
*Which is OK as long as it doesn't happen to my kid! Meaning "selfish is as selfish does" ...

Interesting anecdote AND your "point" is a said revelation of the truth of the matter. There are insufficient controls on dangerous weapons.

The law-of-the-land is run by both State and National governments depending upon "jurisdiction". For the moment, the availability and use of guns is a matter decided by state law. Moreover, most states have no Gun Control Laws out of the fear - by elected officials - that if they pass laws to "control guns" they might not get reelected.

And that Societal Equation will not change for as long as Americans do not get off their Collective Asses and decide to change the law in their state!

Why that? Well, because of history. Guns were never a "societal problem" until these past 30 years. Therefore there is no common jurisdiction relating to guns - neither at the state nor national level.

For a competent review of the matter, see here: America’s gun problem, explained - excerpt:

Only because it does not apply to every single firearm in existence.

And there is no legitimate reason, non whatsoever, to try and extend the same difficulty of actual NFA firearms to non-NFA firearms.

Inmates are successfully smuggling firearms into prisons.

Such devices do not exist, because such devices cannot actually exist in physical terms.

    ....... it’s up to a year wait.....
*How long is the wait? Wait time for ATF approval on Form 4s varies. The current estimate is 12 months.*

If you ever had a fear about big brother investigating you, now is your chance to experience that fear in spades. They have a year.......but, it’s still easy.

And how frequent has this successfully been done. You talk like it’s easy, any real evidence how easy it is ?
