I'm not misrepresenting them. You claimed in post #276 you claimed that every post of yours is about liberty, when that's demonstrably false. I'm only going on what you actually write and none of your posts till #276 was about liberty.

I'm unclear why you think you're deserving an answer to that question when you refuse to answer the one I asked first. Try again.

What a clever debating strategy. Invent a claim your opponent didn’t make, tear it apart as proof the one they did make is false. Brilliant. You really should volunteer for the Harvard debating society.

So because you personally believe my opinions to be wrong, that means I should be reported to the FBI and have my second amendment rights taken away.

I ask again: Why do you hate freedom?

Is it a crime to be "anti-history" or "anti-logic" or "anti-common sense" in America?

Anyway, I wasn't ignoring other countries. Germany bombed civilians too. And the Nazi party committed many horrible atrocities. There is really no need to cover that ground, as it has already been analyzed and examined to death. Virtually everyone agrees that the Nazi party and Hitler in particular did evil things. Bashing Nazis in today's context is nothing more than empty virtue signalling and petty conformism.

You are against Nazism? Oh WOW! You're SO brave!

Once you move beyond the one-dimensional and painfully obvious "evil Nazis" narrative, a more complex narrative involving the ugliness and duplicity of everyone involved begins to emerge.

Unfortunately, simple-minded individuals such as yourself struggle with complexity and nuance. You prefer to cling to the simplistic and soothing narratives you were spoon-fed during your childhood, which is why you lash out at anyone who questions your infantile government religion.

Of course we do. I’m not ultra-rich nor am I an ultra-powerful oligarch, but I too act in my own self-interest.

And I love my country too, by the way.

I assumed you were smart enough to realize that I was being intentionally facetious in order to prove a point. My apologies for overestimating your intelligence.

Allow me to be painfully obvious this time.

Americans have been fighting each other and tearing each other apart since the beginning of American history.

During America's relatively short history, there have been two major wars (the American revolution and the civil war) where Americans killed each other by the thousands.

And in between those two major wars, there has been continual intrigue among the various factions who vie for power at each other's expense.

Clearly, mutual hatred and fighting among Americans is ingrained in the US political system as opposed to something engineered by the evil mastermind !!!!!!!VLADIMIR PUTIN!!!!!!!!!

I know this may be hard for you to accept, but Putin is not responsible for Trump being the president, nor is Putin responsible for the fights you witness between Americans.

Trump got elected because millions of Americans disdain the political system, not because they got tricked by some Russian propaganda on Facebook.

And Americans are fighting each other for the same reason they've always fought each other. Because they want control over the central government along with its vast powers and wealth.

The idea that Putin is responsible for the US ripping itself apart is simply fatuous, bordering on infantile.

In Australia the term ‘Liberal’ belongs to the Liberal Party who are the conservative right with here. As to the news I absorb it ranges from the BBC to the Gardian with the odd side reference to the Spectator. I’ll leave you with the job of positioning them according to the black and white US perspective of such things.

Wow. You're so brave. It takes a lot of courage to admit that you love America.

Anyway, you are only permitted to act in your own self-interest to the extent that the oligarchy allows you to.

Thankfully, due to the uniqueness of American history and culture, the oligarchy cannot exercise the kind of control that past ruling classes became accustomed to.

Unfortunately, many of those cultural and historical institutions that protect us from outright tyranny are being eroded and even reversed.

Ironically, some of the primary offenders in the slow-motion rape of American traditions and institutions are the very same people who claim to be "conservative" patriots.

Because when it comes to supporting big government in the form of an expensive and dangerous military empire, "conservatives" are unmatched in their devotion to government powers.

And look who "conservatives" keep voting in to power. The Republicans along with Trump are accumulating debt at a rate similar to or even in excess of Obama.

Clearly, these "conservatives" are not genuine. They do not really believe in small government.

Germany wasn't humiliated to show their face at Normandy on the anniversary of D-Day. Why would they feel humiliated if people drop candy from a plane?

The BBC and Guardian have become little more than mouthpieces for British intelligence, just as the New York Times and the Washington Post have become little more than mouthpieces for US intelligence.

Most of the Germans alive today had nothing to do with WWII. Understandably, they are getting sick of the endless US obsession with that war. I can't say I blame them. How many more WWII movies and documentaries and ceremonies do we need anyway? I must have seen Saving Private Ryan almost a hundred times by now. It's a great movie. But at a certain point, people want to look at something from a fresh or new perspective.

My opinion on WWII was changed largely by reading that flaming liberal, Pat Buchanan.

I disagree, the vast majority of the impressive German army never knew about the holocaust..they were too busy kicking arse on a man to man level. Germany lost due too Hitler's insane ego and addiction to meth. Best generals, commanders, man to man fighters and equipment..just due to his insanity, ignored his generals...then became over extended and even the best of the best need adequate supply chain management.

Sorry it's the stone cold truth. America did the same in the Pacific..we whipped the Japanese from isle to isle and naval battle through skill and heart and a bit of luck. Cornered them and knew we had to bomb them or suffer Russia lvl casualties.

Not best post of week. Not even on the radar. What I'm annoyed about is Europe somehow allowing Germany to control the entire EU fiscally. Buncha incompetent twits

German economic and political preeminence on the European continent is consonant with the natural order. WWI and WWII merely delayed the inevitable.

As long as WW2 veterans are around, they deserve to be honored. They won't be around soon and you will recover from your sickness.

How did the Berlin Airlift help let the Russians end the blockade? Or was this just a poor choice of words?

    ... or ...

maybe @Sobo and his brethren ilk plus the, Authorities, finally realized the idiocy over decades within ... letting this nonsense flight, ever occur?

And oh how treacherous of the USA, organizers, expecting Germany to help 'celebrate' its own defeat.

I think those are the true motives, for redirecting the landings. And I can understand the German's sentiment. It's just too, bad, that they were too afraid to say the real reason that they pulled this peculiar act.

They don't. What one (in words: one) user on this board tells you is that person's personal opinion. Unfortunately, most of our 'merican friends here don't seem to understand that one opinion cannot be representative of 82 mill people. Granted, it makes things a lot easier if one ignores this little detail.

Please see post 55 for a brief summary of the context and facts. I understand, however, that simplified speculations based on nothing are a lot more fun.
