You guys should be careful about wishing for the DNC to nominate a preposterous figure. After, all theres no more preposterous figure than Trump and he won. The mold is broken. Literally anyone can win now.

 

There never has been a mold, just constitutional requirements that are very easy to meet.

Probably a third, if not half, of Americans are qualified for the office of president.

 

That's the goal. Chelsea is anarch-ish, so to speak. I want her to win and I want the radical left to become more prominent because of it.

If you can deliver prosperity you will keep winning.

If you can't deliver prosperity you have to be very charismatic and convincing to string the people along, or else lose.

But 'prosperity' I have always considered to be something that benefits the population, not an elite few gazillionaires ... and let the rest of your countrymen survive by 'dog eat dog' tactics. Charisma is only an advantage for the crooks (those you serve), that is to say to placate the masses in order they don't conspire to murder you, leaving your employer thugs no one to front their scamming of your taxes. Politicians are nothing more than highly payed actors, and the new norm has little to do with talent - as Bush Baby Jr, Hillary Clinton, Maxine Waters, Sarah Palin, Joe Arpaio, Hank Johnson, clearly prove.

I'm sure there is someone just as frightening to get them worked up. Oprah is a prime candidate, as we've seen.

But me, I'd like to see us get away from considering extremists and celebrities for president, unless we're going to change our government and make that office less meaningful. I'm still in favor of seeing us move to something more parliamentary, so that the rich tapestry and spectrum of interests are much better represented anyway. That calls for more parties, which in turn calls for a move away from winner-take-all at the national level.
