Let's think about that for a moment, shall we. What you're saying is you think Elliot Richardson should have fired Archibald Cox. Do I have that right? You think government employees should carry out illegal and or unethical policies at the direction of the prez or just resign? If so, you have lost all your perspective regarding what this country is supposed to be about..........just to defend a corrupt liar who is unfit to be prez.

Sorry to intrude on the tin-foil hat moment, but Trump and individual initiative, decency and civil discourse should NEVER appear in the same sentence.

Your use of the word "corruption" seems entirely misplaced here given the amount of evidence that is now out there detailing just how corrupt folks like ms Yovanovitch and her cohort of "civil servants" have been. So, as you whine about them being removed for cause, it seems that what you're really advocating for is just more corruption, not less.

You fail to consider the veracity of the "evidence" and the motivation of the people circulating it. If you have any credible evidence of wrongdoing on her part please present it.

“He also said that I had done nothing wrong and that this was not like other situations where he had recalled ambassadors for cause,” Yovanovitch said of her conversation with Sullivan. Trump announced earlier Friday his intention to nominate Sullivan to be his new ambassador to Russia.

If Marie had done something so egregious as to merit removal from her post, why wasn't she fired from the State Dept. altogether? Why aren't her "corrupt acts" being pursued by the admin?

I wouldn't call her the enemy, she seems to have shared his goals of wanting to weed out corruption as well, she just had different views on how to get that goal....the main problem was being vocally critical of her boss. That will get you fired

You need to distinguish between words and deeds. Crooked Donald claims to have been concerned about corruption in Ukraine...........but in his deeds he tried to further their corruption by extorting them in to participating in his efforts to smear Biden. An unwillingness to participate in the scheme was what got Marie fired as ambassador.

Birds of a feather flock together.

Giuliani is one helluva smooth operator. He'll kiss anybody's ass depending upon the ultimate payback ...

hahaha....I've really come to love the parody that you and Shifty are replying on to make your points.

It's hardly the President's fault that Biden was part of the corruption in Ukraine

Giuliani had been communicating with convicted criminal Paul Manafort to get advice on how to approach Ukraine.

Wrong! He lost the Popular-vote by a significantly high margin (for presidential elections in the US) to Hillary. He was elected only because the Electoral College allows a manipulation of the popular-vote that then determines the winner.

If you think that is a Real Democracy then you've blinders on your brain ...

Just where-the-hell do you come from - because with such an assinine comment as that above, you show definitively that you have no notion whatsoever of the unique system of governance in the US that is tripartite - Executive, Legislative and Judicial.

And that was innovated particularly to avoid the predominance of the Executive - which (once upon a time) was called a "Sovereign King".

The job of the government beuraucracy is to obey its heads as determined by the Executive. Which is the True Meaning of the word Executive in terms of the Federal Government. They "execute" presidential policy - but supposedly in relation to existing laws as interpreted by both chambers of Congress and (upon occasion) the Supreme Court*.

That last bit the hard-part ...

*Which is why the Replicants have tried to "pack" both chambers of Congress as well as the Supremes. It gives them near total power. Had Hitler survived he would have crossed the Atlantic to kiss their Collective Arses with great pleasure ... !

We are a Republic, not a Democracy...he won the election based on how we have elections....

Congress doesn't interpret laws, the Judicial branch does...Congress makes laws.

Not sure how the GOP has tried to "pack" both chambers of Congress....I guess the Dems have too/.....they do want to win elections....thought that was the goal

A little education is clearly in order. You can't win or lose the popular vote because in the United States of America there is NO competition for the popular vote.

Duh, you'd expect people to understand that if there is no competition, there is no winners and no losers.

Not to speak for another poster.......but I think the point of mentioning the popular vote is to point out President Flim Flam does not have a mandate to carry out his agenda since the majority of Americans oppose it.

Hard to say....had the popular vote mattered, people running for President who campaign differently. Since it doesn't, it's quite irrelevant....sort of like Shifty's "inquiry" is

I'd prefer the thread not go off on a tangent. Let's try to keep the posts on topic.

She was an obstacle in Slimy Rudy and Crooked Donald's efforts to hatch a plan to extort Zelensky. From all accounts she is a honest, dedicated, experienced woman who spent her professional career in the service of her country...........just like most civil servants. That makes her the antithesis of Trumpery. So they smeared her reputation and had her removed from her post as the US ambassador to Ukraine. A pretense was created to justify firing her because she would not be part of the hackery. If you think she is the only qualified person in the government who was forced out, or left on their own accord, due to the treachery taking place, you are wrong. Trump is purposely gutting the government to make way for Trumpery.

In order for Trumpery to thrive, an approach to government service that is fundamentally narcissistic, unscrupulous, and self-serving........people with integrity like Marie Yovanovitch must be marginalized. Because Trumpery can not be implemented by civil servants like Marie Yovanovitch. It can only be implemented by people like Billy the Bagman, Mike "Pompus" Pompeo, and Slimy Rudy. So she was marginalized.......almost. Fortunately, she has been afforded the opportunity to tell her story and reveal what happened behind the scenes.........despite Don's attempted to block her from doing so. What she exposed is an admin intent on undermining trust in America's institutions so his personal interests can be served.

Her story about what happened fits seamlessly with what we have been hearing from others in a position to know. Namely, there was a concerted effort on the part of multiple players to get something from Ukraine the Orange Fraud wanted. Compromising material on a political rival from a foreign government that would be politically damaging to that rival. If this sounds familiar there's a reason for that, it happened in the last election cycle.

I encourage everyone to read the statement she released to the public before her testimony. She is exactly the kind of principled person we need working for the nation's interests. It's her outstanding qualities that make her a threat to Individual 1.........making him a threat to us all.

In what part of the Constitution did you discover this brilliant idea of yours that a legally and legitimately elected president is not a legally and legitimately elected president and that the limits of presidential powers are determined by a non-existent measure? Jeez lol

In what part of your imagination did I write that? Being legitimately elected by the EC is not the same thing as having a legitimate mandate to carry out an agenda the majority voted against and still opposes.

Surely winning the presidency is the only thing that gives a government a mandate for change.

We are going to get another account of how Slimy Rudy slithered his way in to being a player as a pseudo-representative of the US government.

Fiona Hill, the White House’s former top Russia adviser, is expected to speak to House investigators behind closed doors Monday about how the administration’s approach to Ukraine was affected by President Trump’s lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani’s efforts to have the country investigate the son of former vice president Joe Biden.

In what part of the Constitution did you discover the existence of a popular vote contest limiting presidential powers and authority again? Duh No competition = no winners and no losers. Lol

Which leads to the inevitable conclusion - government saboteurs are appropriately fired for cause because they're stupid, ignorant and in gross violation of their job descriptions.

Wherever ignorance-is-bliss the Trumps will persist.

The country has this blind faith in a market-economy that generates abnormally high concentrations of Wealth/Money/Value (call it what you will). Communism has proven the falsehood of the notion that all people should earn similar (or the same) salary.

At the heart of any market-economy are human-beings each of which is motivated differently and their intellectual strengths are also very different. Neither factor should betray the notion that all deserve a Fair Living. Which is undergoing Transformational Change as we exit the Industrial Age and enter the Information Age. This latter requires a higher level of educated intelligence. Meaning abilities to understand how the world around us evolves and is heading for a far higher level of intellectual content.

Meaning what? Meaning that postsecondary education should be free, gratis and for nothing. Paid for by a Central Government tasked with the goal of having as many individuals as possible reaching the highest level of their intellectual capacity.

When Hillary willing "borrowed" Bernie's proposition of a free (or nearly free) Tertiary Education, she was simply demonstrating a type of education that had already existed in Europe for over half a century. Bernie had not plucked that idea out of the air. He'd seen it at work here in Europe.

    So, now the question remains,
How do we get the next Dem candidate to capture the presidency with an Electoral College wherein (1) the split in a popular-vote is weighted in favor of Replicant candidates* and (2) Gerrymandering determines which party is favored to get elected to Congress? (And thirdly, the Supreme Court has a silly notion that all benefit from Life Tenures! So, once packed, it will favor only interpretation of the law and it will not be progressive.)

We can't. The nation is STUCK with its feet solidly in concrete when it comes to
key-changes to the voting process that must be undertaken to assure fairness.

    Howzat? Damn simple! Here's how:
*The Electoral College has a first-past-the-post counting method. Meaning,
the majority popular-vote determines which "winning candidate" obtains all the Electoral College votes! Not just his/her proportion but all of the EC-votes of that state!
*If you did not vote for the winner, then your PotUS VOTE DOES NOT COUNT AT ALL!
*Gerrymandering will assure that state-votes to the HofR will be misrepresented as well. Votes are concentrated geographically to assure that certain party-candidates are more likely to win.

No one in their right-mind can call the above a Fair & Impartial voting system ...
