Culture of Shootings , "Thoughts and Prayers" But No Solutions

Were number one!.... USA USA USA..........yea keep giving your sinful thoughts and prayers!

 

Maybe they would like to take some of our downtrodden souls into their and even up the score? It's only fair. Equity and all.

 

Yep! "Culture of Shootings" is an excellent title for this thread.

 

There are many countries with more "downtrodden souls" that don't have our problem.

 

quite a weekend of shootings,wasn't it?? It is beyond a pandemic and no "vaccine" around the corner. There is something seriously INSANE about a culture that accepts this as the norm........ and evidence seems to indicate that it does.Sure folks express various ritualistic phases following each event........but it means nothing. Those that die and those that grieve n their loss....... are just collateral damage. There is a serious sickness in this culture........and no one wants to face it. They just purchase more weapons.....and deceive themselves into believing it is a solution.

Human intelligence can make helicopter fly on Mars..........but human stupidity, resistance , attitude issues , prevents a solution to this serious cultural problem. A problem that is a cultural illness........and is progressive. & terminal.
Let's hear some proposals / ideas that could alter this deadly dynamic.

 

There's almost too much truth in what you say. It's difficult to take.

I'm sure you already know what I have to say on the subject: Corruption out, Democracy in ..... and I'm not talking about pieces of paper with John Hancocks's signature at the bottom.

 

Euphemism and rationalizing what is happening is not doing anyone any favors. Violence has become blurred........between reality and the fiction of movies (and gaming too) . The culture is saturated with violence ........
Not many countries can make that claim.

 

I know I'm getting old. My parents said that Rock & Roll and Elvis Presley would destroy the morals of youth. They were wrong, I think. But they also said that sex and violence in cinema would do the same. On that I think they were right.

That's right. In our time there were the Nazis, the Khmer Rouge, and the "ethnic cleansing" of the former Yugoslavia. They are all gone now ..... the US remains the only culture saturated with violence.

CNN reporting a shooting , one dead , in New York. Suspect is on the loose.

(sounds like a really bad western movie , doesn't t??,one that just keeps repeating....

The nation is on tender hooks waiting for a verdict in a highly publicized trial........and are boarding up, in preparation for riots........

A nation in continuous war wit itself. but behaving like a rebellious adolescent. with testosterone running out of control.

 

Facebook is labeling Minneapolis a "high risk" area. .........and is watching solely for all violence provoking content on their platform. Wait for the outcry about this one. Having "rights" does not mean one has the latitude to behave without boundaries. (social, ethical, legal, moral .......and that includes language )

 

People who commit such crimes feel that they have no choice.

I am willing to bet that most of them actually believe they are acting within those boundaries. Again .... violent films and video games plus a hero-worshipping attitude and "stand your ground" mentality makes them think they are doing something righteous. Islamist suicide bombers believe they are doing something good so if we acknowledge their determination then we can also understand the mindset of American mass murderers. There must be similarities between them. I'm sure they are convinced that they are committing themselves for a just cause.

 

Very well stated. This mindset is a product of self indoctrination and certain beliefs and value systems.. There is also a sense of entitlement in this culture There is no real motivation to make changes that might decrease the degree of violence/ shootings. So the situation festers in an endemic way now.

 

You know what that chart says? That gun's aren't the problem. Its people.

 

We all know that. Children + matches is a dangerous affair. What do we do about it? Do we remove children from the equation or remove the matches? Uh ..........

 

The rich have formed their wagons in a circle while the rest of the nation has become destitute with cannibalism the only means of survival.

Indeed. And people who cannot handle owing weapons responsibly......should not have them. That should include cops.

High Crime with jail time the unlawful discharge of a firearm and threatening another with a firearm. There are no accidents!
