Of course you can inform yourself and ask informed questions as well.

If the gov implements cost controls on all medicine (as they do with Medicare and Medicaid) the US system will fall apart. Many will be hurt by gov actions that you wish for.

The cost of treating uninsured people is ~ 2% of the health insurance premium. The real adder to individual premiums are the costs to make up for Medicare and Medicaid payments which are under the going rate.

Those data are false for reasons discussed in this thread. Have you ever done your homework on this ??

Ahh - there it is. Alinsky rules - attack the source when you can't attack the data. Saul would have been proud.

The issue is that the 52K patients were going through serious health issues. The decided that it was so serious that they spent their own money on treatment in the US. BTW, why doesn't the Canadian system cover Canadian citizens when they travel to different countries ??

People with good health insurance pay for the elderly, indigent, chronically ill and premature babies. Its called cost shifting and that has been the practice for decades.

Then you must know that the life expectancy and infant mortality "data" used to "show" that the US healthcare system is substandard are demonstrably false.

Medicare for all is the best choice to provide excellent healthcare for all and slow spiraling costs.

That's the liberal progressive mantra - BIG GOV is the solution. It is not.

If your ideological dogma prevents you from accepting the empirical reality that advanced nations "cover everybody!" at far "lower cost!" - Trump's stated goals - I shall not attempt to disabuse you of your metaphysical beliefs. The truth is no match for such a deeply-held article of faith.

    That's complete BS.

As has been pointed out numerous times, if it works for other industrialized nations, why wouldn't it work here?

You are holding onto a belief system based on fear and selfishness promulgated by the parties that have nothing but ungodly profits to lose.

Vouchers giving retirees options to manage their own health care would work better.

Costs are reduced by rationing. That means many do not receive care that they desire. That is a fact based assessment.

The spending on health care in the US is done by those consuming the health care. We do not require the gov to ration what we receive. No metaphysics is required to understand that fact.

That winter migration takes the pressure off the Canadian health care system and it's still 38 weeks for orthopedic work. I went from 1st visit with my GP to the operating table in 8 weeks. Which would you rather have?

First we need to over haul a corrupt medical billing system based on procedures.
It is suggested a Cardiologist earn the same wage whether he is teaching a patient about their heart disease or running a catheter into a coronary artery and leaving none, one, two or more stents. Yes they do make more per stent at that moment. Ain't that disgusting.

Not over hauling the medical billing system based on procedures creates a sink hole that can never be filled with new insurance schemes.
Also, schemes like Diagnosis based Reimbursement leads to denial of care.
    Not a good idea.

Under single payer I would allow doctors to "opt out" and be 100% private.
But, no feeding from the single payer trough as well as the private trough too.

Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic,
regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.

Obviously you have no understanding of the Japanese philosophy on product development or quality control.
