have a serial number added to the gun parts before assembling, problem solved

I think people should be allowed to carry guns on a plane.

If I can carry it on the bus or walking through a hallway and it doesn't jump out of my pocket and go shoot people why would it do that on a plane?

once the gun is assembled, it must have a serial number, yes, that is what I am saying

It's not really about a serial number on a part it's about considering a part that isn't a gun A gun.

Yes, of course you are. But those who care about gun rights are not.

And I don't think you really understand what's being talked about here.

We're not talking about serial numbers on parts we're not talking about guns without serial numbers we're talking about saying an 80% lower is a gun.

Why must it have a serial number? What is the reasoning for that?

Where does the serial number have to be?

    What components?

I do have an idea. If someone wants to be able to have their gun tracked if it is stolen, they can put a serial number on it. There could be an agreed-upon way to mark the gun, which would not be easy to deface off, which would indicate that gun had a serial number. If that marking is there, but the serial number was gone, then law enforcement would know that gun had been stolen and the original serial number had been etched off.

Only the local dealer would know the serial number and the owner, but at the request of the owner, if that gun was stolen, the information could be provided to law enforcement.

Keeping it optional would guarantee rights to gun owners while still allowing gun owners to make it easier for those guns to be tracked in the event of theft, if they wanted that.

I have not done a google search if that is that you mean, but serial numbers often lead police to the gun owners

No. $50,000 to compensate for the loss and earnings and I can only if I make a component in my garage I can't do that anymore because it doesn't have a serial number on it.

Not for some time after the ruling goes into effect, that is, if it gets that far.

    No they really don't.

I bought a 30-06 a few years back. I didn't buy it from a gun dealer I bought it from a buddy who bought it from some other buddy.

If that gun is recovered in a crime the police will have no idea about me. There is no way for that serial number to be tied to me

So you understand that it's limiting my rights. I can't machine my own components. Or hire a machinist to machine my own components.

I do not agree with that, don't need guns accidentally or on purpose going off in a plane

Why would they? What's special about an airplane that's going to make guns all the sudden go off?

I 100% support the 2nd, but I also support making machine guns harder to get, how about you?

Then you disagree with Biden. He's saying it's an issue even if you don't assemble the parts

all guns should have serial numbers, if you make the gun at home, you should make sure it has a serial number

it helps reduce murder from common criminals and helps catch them

why do we have to register a car, why not just require a drivers license

You're going off topic, and furthermore that is an argument from extremes.
