One of the bystanders was an off-duty EMT. Chauvin will still have present evidence he didn't prevent Floyd from breathing by putting weight on his back for too long.

If getting arrested was going to be so stressful it killed him then maybe Floyd should not have involved himself in activities that would get him arrested. Choosing to go that route he should have chosen not to stress the arresting officers to their max as well as his worn out heart and vascular system. Chauvin did not kill him, his death was a result of circumstances he created himself.

    Indeed.

The cops were so nervous about the mob, they were pretty much standing around.

No, the prosecution has to prove that he did.

This isn't likely to work on the jury, not after they heard prosecutors make it clear Floyd died because he couldn't breathe with Chauvin's weight on his body.

The prosecutors are saying a lot but they will have to back it up.

Prosecutors put forward strong evidence Chauvin's weight prevented Floyd from breathing.

I don't see how Chauvin escapes a manslaughter conviction. His obvious indifference to Floyd's wellbeing condemns him.

Some of the most vivid video evidence you'll ever see in a murder, taken at multiple angles. I'm not a court of law so for me the video evidence is more than enough.

For the court however, there are multiple eyewitnesses corroborating the video evidence, none seem to express any doubt it was a murder. There are also multiple medical expert witnesses, all corroborating a murder in multiple and similar ways. 3 of them agreeing that Chauvin's actions/inactions were the substantial causal factor in Chauvin's death. Then there are the police expert witnesses, superiors and trainers, all concurring that what Chauvin did was "unnecessary", "excessive" or "lethal" and outside training protocols, including but not limited to failure to exercise duty of care. None of this has successfully been challenged in any meaningful way so far. It should be interesting what the defense comes up with that might mount a challenge to all of this overwhelming inculpatory evidence.

The same supervisor that said he violated training practices, on cross stated that officers were trained to use their body weight to control a suspect. The same supervisor on cross saw the knee from a different angle and said it was on the shoulder and within training practice. You and I are closed minds at this point and I would venture neither of us has seen all the video or heard all the arguments. We can always hope that the jury as seen it all and that their minds did not close when they saw the videos without the explanations and detail that were to come. Another thing we seem to have in common is neither of us really expect justice to be the outcome of this trial.

A lot of people have made the same mistake you just made with the overdose value.
    They are two different measurements.
One is concentration in the blood - 11 nanograms per liter.
The second is the amount ingested. - 2 milligrams of weight.

On paper I agree. Part of the substantial causal factor is Chauvin's failure to provide any assistance that could have saved Floyd's life and in fact rejecting all offers and suggestions for assistance. That's all on Chauvin.

    This explains Floyd's levels.

Saying officers are trained to use their body does not change the fact that Chauvin violated training practices in several ways.

Chauvin's knee being on the shoulder does not change the fact that one knee was on Chauvin's neck for 9:29 minutes. Nor does it change the fact that the actions of Chauvin made it impossible for Floyd to breathe adequately to survive. Chauvin's knee was moved off Floyd's neck after he had already passed out and possibly after he died. It wasn't within training practice to place a knee on the neck using half the body weight for an extended period of time. It wasn't within training practice to fail to assess Floyd's condition at all times.

I've heard more than 90% of the testimony and seen almost 100% of the videos shown so far.

As a juror I would expect nothing less from any of them. But they are human and they will do what they will do and that may not necessarily match our expectations.

I stopped expecting justice from this (in)justice system decades ago. Once in a while there is a surprise though. When there are 2.3 million human beings behind bars and another 5+ million in the criminal "justice" system in the Land of the Free, far more than China, North Korea, Iran or Russia, one should not be expecting justice from a government with such a record of inhumanity.

The autopsy and the unbiased official findings by the Medical Examiner in both the autopsy, his statement to the county attorney's the day after the autopsy and in his interview with the FBI state Floyd had a MORE than lethal dose of fentanyl in his system and ANY level of fentanyl in combination with the meth put his life in grave danger due to the advance heart disease he had. And he put himself in more of that danger when he resisted arrest and engaged in not one by two physical struggles with the officers who were performing a lawful arrest.

The Medical Examiner testified in cross Floyd had a MORE than lethal dose of Fentanyl. PERIOD. And ANY dose with the condition of his heart was possibly lethal and then with the stress due to Floyd resisting arrest, fighting with the police officers was more than his heart could stand and he died. That he did not die of asphyxiation. That the position of Chauvin's knee could not have cut off his ability to breath. That his arteries were not block. He died because his heart gave out.

That's how Friday ended with the cross examination and I think he was dismissed.

So now where does the prosecution go? I didn't hear they rested their case so who will they call to be their star witness?

Yes an off duty EMT who go her facts totally wrong and as a result refused to go over her statements with investigators when she testified. She lost all credibility at that point. Yet she also confirmed the fact that in such circumstances EMT's and Paramedics do not just rush in and begin efforts until the area is secured, they held back until it is secured and that when the paramedics arrived they determined it was a "load and go", they could not begin treatment because of the situation so they quickly loaded him and had to drive several blocks away and then stop and begin recovery efforts.

Don't you agree that made the crowd including that EMT are complicit in Floyd's death? It was their actions that prevented immediate recovery efforts.

The statement I remember is when he said if Floyd had died peacefully alone at home he might have thought it an overdose.

No. He had been dead before the EMTs got there.
He was dead when Chavan's partner told him 3 minutes earlier he couldn't find a pulse.

Your ignoring the fact that (1) Addicts develop tolerances for their drugs of addition that well exceed the limits of those toxic to people who don't use them and (2) even allowing for the fact that the dose may have eventually proven fatal the time from ingestion to death is highly variable based on factors like the amount taken, other medications in the victims system, their body mass, underlying physical condition and yes tolerance (again). And even if he was in the process of dying the officer did nothing to intervene despite being alerted to the fact that the Floyd was in respiratory distress. (And even if he didn't believe Floyd when he said he couldn't breath all he had to do was remove his #$@&*$ knee!

The issue isn't the fact that he might have died anyway from the drugs, its the fact that the poorly executed restraint position would exacerbate the problem, in fact any problem!. It doesn't matter what type of critical medical condition Floyd might have had, heart attack, gun shot wound, blunt force trauma, old age! Name a single emergency trauma condition where placing your knee of the victims neck and restricting their airflow is recommended first aid.

All of which means the prosecution might not get up on the murder charges but the other two?

That does not on itself prove there was excessive force applied to the deceased neck . The still frame of the left foot could be an adjustment in position by the accused . I have observed the still frame and you can see the defendants right foot is taking the weight , you will notice a gap between heel and shoe which proves the foot and shoe is being pressured by supporting his own weight .
