Maybe in the big cities, sure.

We drive in cars around here, we park them in parking lots and walk inside to eat.

I'll be here for a while. Show me how you support your claim.
It was gone in the North before Florida had it's outbreak.

Really? You don't get it? Australia would have less than 10,000 deaths if it had the population of this country.
I'm hanging out in British Columbia (5.1m people), 492 deaths. They haven't had a lockdown, stores are open, and there only recently has been an order to wear masks indoors. Dine out? Yes. But then BC doesn't have a bunch of jackasses like we do, starting with this guy...

People have already decided, from bar hoppers to folks staying home.

You're not very likely to get it given there are just 908 coronavirus deaths.
Life is hell for Aussies...

    Measures to ease the lockdown
    • Restrictions are being eased across the country on a state and territory basis depending on local epidemiology. The state of Victoria has moved from Stage 4 restrictions to Stage 3 which involves the re-opening of restaurants, cafes and other non-permitted industries.
    • Bars, cafes, restaurants and pubs are open but must comply with COVID safe plans. The four square meter rule still applies in most indoor venues.
    • Most workers can return to offices, but are encouraged to work remotely. In Victoria it is a public health directive to work from home if you can.
    • Schools are back open across the country, with cleaning and social distancing measures in place.
    • Gyms and indoor recreational centers are open with customer limits and strict hygiene protocols.
    • A travel ban is in place that prevents all non-Australian citizens and non-residents from entering Australia.
    • Interstate travel from Victoria is restricted to essential workers and hotel quarantine applies on arrival, however this is due to be relaxed by the end of the month for NSW. Travel to South Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory and Tasmania requires a permit but travel is relatively unrestricted. West Australian borders will open to very low risk states in mid-November.
    • Retail outlets were never forced to close under stage 3 but many that did have now reopened.

I think Trump would probably have won. Here's how the public felt about Trump's COVID-19 policies:

    6960CEFE-A42C-49EC-9E5E-D81C4E44E16E.jpeg

Trump made the fatal mistake of pushing to open up too soon.
I think so. Biden has planted at least one foot in the political center and will spend his time making sure Joe and Jane American have healthcare, can put food on the table during the pandemic, and they can get job training or help going to college.

Republicans won't be able to run against "socialists" in 2022.

I was really disappointed to hear he was only going to ask people to wear masks and not push for mandates. There's 13 (IIRC) states that don't have some form of state wide mask requirement in place. Florida being one of them obviously since this entire thread is centered around Ron DeathSantis's ineptitude. He rode in on Pres Trump's coat-tails and hes likely going to ride them right back out in 2 years.

He knows the pandemic is going to get worse before he takes office, so there's time to ask for more.
Good riddance. Democrats need someone who can speak to middle class whites, and
blacks and Hispanics who support free enterprise but still feel the sting of bigotry.

They need to run a centrist in Florida because FL is super diverse we've got it all and so a candidate that can stand in the middle of the isle will do quite well IMO. But honestly given how dangerous and incompetent DeathSantis is I'll vote for anyone just to get him out.

Although DeSantis and Greg Abbott are menaces to the entire country, my menace list is topped by South Dakota governor Kristi Noem. My mother (RIP) was a Republican mayor of a small city and would gag on these three.

In the USA, the difference would be a downtown area versus a more suburban area. We rarely go to a restaurant that doesn't have its' own parking lot. The main reason is price and convenience. I can get a really good taco ala carte for $5 at a nice sit down restaurant in our town, or go to downtown Ft Lauderdale and pay $9 for that same taco, plus I had to pay for parking.

That's all great. But even though Australia and America are roughly the same size, America has fifteen times the population, eight times as much tourism, and five times as many miles of roads. All by which a molecular level virus makes swift headway. So there is no comparison between the two nations, neither pre nor post covid.

So far, DeSantis is the best governor Florida has seen in years, probably since Lawton Chiles.

I turned on CNN yesterday just out of curiosity and I had no idea that they were running a 24-hour live "death ticker" in the corner of their broadcast.

I'm a bit surprised that on the bottom they didn't have names scrolling by like "Beth Morgan, John Steven's, Mary Johnson"

I probably shouldn't give them any ideas.

We have a population 13.25 times the size of Australia.

Our borders are closed to most tourism and we can live off our own people touring the country. I don't know what point you're making about roads.

Australia is an urban economy like our own and Aussies live in cities.

    upload_2020-12-8_11-37-21.jpeg

Australia has 908 coronavirus deaths. 13.35 times that number is 12,031.

    upload_2020-12-8_11-41-15.jpeg

Don't like Australia? British Columbia has 5.1m people and 527 coronavirus deaths. Multiply 527 * 65 to compare with our 331m and you get 34,255 deaths.

BC has never had a stay-at-home order and even though it is currently going through a bending-the-curve exercise, only a few businesses types are curtailed.

Yea and if the DNC is smart they wont elevate some identity box checking socialist wannabe Squat member because it just hurts their chances in a state as diverse as Florida. If they pick a moderate (I'm hoping for Nikki Fried) then it will be a lock because the same energy that rejected Pres Trump will be there to reject Gov DeathSantis. Full disclosure I'll still vote for the box checking socialist if thats what it comes down to because fk MoRon, but I'm hoping for better.

The socialist only lost by 30,000 votes. He was pretty close to hosting his meth parties in the governor's mansion. And as you say, you'd vote for him anyway.

And why do you believe that? What are his accomplishments other than the near 1 million plus cases and the nearly 20,000 dead Floridians?

You know I had forgotten just how close that race was but it makes me smile because if enough people showed up to vote for that crackhead simply out of party fanaticism imagine how many will show up to vote for, whomever, when the DeathSantis death count is over 50k. I don't want to vote for someone who will host meth parties in the gov's mansion but ya know, it is so very far away from me and I'd never be invited anyways, so I'll take that over the deaths of thousands of my people any day - any day man.
