Republicans control all the levers of power and are the most powerful in over a century. NOTHING will change that, and the voters have spoken.

The hysteria of the left is self-defeating methinks.

    I have a prediction.

He will push his agenda through with no thoughts about liberal outcry, and people on the left and right better work with him or they will get the boot. I believe Trump has created a Labor Party out of the Republican Party and I think he is going to win win win!

see there's hope for this country after all. if Trump can stand, the media will fall. and it's possible they know this, and have already walked out on the limb with the saw to cut themselves off. hence when you live by the horse dump you die by the horse dump. and they will keep dishing it out. and when Trump treats their horse dump as irrelevant they seek the same method of dishing out horse dump because they don't know anything else like ethical integrity or honor and respect. can't do what you don't know and or perceive.

they say that a dog that eats its own excrement is a sign of an animal you don't want to keep.

most of the public doesn't take into consideration that the same media organizations that act like they are holding people like Trump to some ethical or moral value. put shows on that are set to erode the morals that don't permit decadence. what is on network tv today, used to be considered soft porn yesterday, and still is today though no one admits it. this is the same people that accuses others at the drop of a hat should they see ratings in it.

That you refuse to accept information that runs contrary to your narrative tells me all I need to know.
I shan't waste any more time on you; sadly, your status as a moderator precludes me form placing you on ignore.

that information was generated by the media correct? or a contractor thereof, right? since when was the media honest about anything it wasn't forced to be honest about? it's an organization with a agenda set forth by those who run it, or rule it. anyone with half a brain can see what they are doing.

the things the media says, are in the effort of trying to convince the public to a view they want the public to believe. on the other hand in the case of Trump he has been merely expressing in the political arena what many have known and had been thinking many years before he ran for office. we the public that is over 30 know the media shouldn't be trusted, and they are the ones trying to get us not to trust the President of the united states. and he's only been there for less than 45 days. chees-wiz just who is the enemy of the people who voted the president in. on top of that the media, and those idiots that claim "not my president" the media loves to give as much attention to as possible. don't respect the system "the Constitution" (of which they agreed to live under,) through which he was elected, and don't respect or honor the people who elected him.

what if the shoe was on the other foot when Obama was first elected, protesting in the streets not my president so on and so forth? how would the minority organizations respond to that? the thing is that didn't happen because the opposition respects and honors the system the presidency and the people who elected him because they have the right to. its an agreement that opposing sides share in, not all for me and how I feel about, and screw you. there is a reason why mankind must have an agreement to coexist by, the morons screaming 'not my president" are not really a part of that agreement known as the US Constitution, and are genially the enemy thereof, because they openly refuse to accept the out come of the agreement. therefore haters of the agreement.

A free press is critical to a democracy. Discrediting the media or controlling the media is an attribute of fascism. When you can't trust the press to tell you the truth, what are you going to do when there is a crisis?

Respect is not a Constitutional right. If Trump wants to be respected, he needs to respect others. If Trump wants to be trusted, he needs to be trustworthy.

Lastly, people have a first amendment right to criticize the President or any other elected official they wish to criticize. What many don't seem to understand is, Trump needs to be as responsive to the people that didn't vote for him, as he is to the ones that did, because he represents all of us. Most Americans did not vote for what he promised in his campaign. He needs to take that into consideration, but he doesn't seem to be doing so… thus the pushback from the people and the media.

Precisely. If one believed the Mainstream Media about Trump in 2016 then Trump was a murderous hate-filled racist and a slavering sex fiend determined to rape both females and males. Fortunately ONLY leftists believed the Leftist-loyal Mainstream Media about Trump. Ironically since their weapon of choice against Trump -- over-the-top-lies -- has not only repeatedly failed them but backfired by crashing and burning their 'trust-factor' with the public the leftist idiots are doubling down with their failed tactics and are still lying about Trump while the rest of the nation watches, makes up their own mind, and then progressively (ha!) turns off the MSM for the lying political propagandists that they have become for the Left.

The dems and left have made some sorry changes over the last decade, and shot themselves in the foot- and yet can't acknowledge it. Trump will not win? How many time has that claim gone down in flames already?

The left's philosophy is that political correctness, tolerance and politeness applies to others- but they are free to make total jackasses out of themselves.
If you go to court and do that, you get ejected. If I were in a position to hold press conferences as Trump is and someone in attendance tried to turn the opportunity to ask questions in to a circus or trial- I would have them ejected, as well as pointing it out. What you do is who you are, and the media has lost all resemblance of the journalistic standard that made news trustworthy. That makes them losers, even though they can't admit they have lost their own self-respect. Being invited to a press conference is not a right, and the opportunity should be respected. With Trump- if you pick a fight, you will get a fight, and my money is on him.

It's really sad that the press as well as a large part of our citizens have become so caught up in the childish protest and evasion of responsibility that they give themselves license to do things like this. The nation wasn't built with such people- they do not contribute, they just want to feed on it. Give me what I want, don't expect anything from me... I'm entitled. That's a load of Bovine excrement- BS. If you can't grow up and help out, then sit down and shut up. You don't have a right to criticize the direction when you refuse to help pull the wagon.

Media coverage now that everyone is hip to him and know he can do real damage is totally different when the election was going on. This is ongoing.

the media or press is for propaganda, which if in the hands of the likes of say Ben Franklin the public isn't being fooled but the people in charge of the press today are certainly of no respectable or honorable quality. besides outlets for reporting like the internet make conglomerates like NBC CBS ABC obsolete. hence the use of things like twitter by gov. officials. but pups where the real media back during Ben's days hence word of mouth.

nobody said it was, but the afore mentioned doesn't respect the system or agreement they say they agree to, which has nothing to do with Trump himself, other than his being elected, a solder respects the peoples choice to be president, no matter who occupies that position, and "not my president" is the same as not respecting the Constitution agreed to, and the rest of the citizenry that agree to that same Constitution and accepts the fact that the constitution says what a president is, and how to become president. of which Trump met.

some ones right to criticize isn't being questioned here, respect for the agreement "Constitution" is, and "not my president" is to disrespect the agreement.

the media's not the boss here, it has a right to be, and should be under as much scrutiny if not more. to waist time responding to media's, find some one that makes accusations media wants to accuse some one of, then quote that accusation to demand a response, doesn't require a response. the tunnel view of the camera doesn't tell the whole story does it?

"Everyone is hip". Hardly. The majority is wrong most of the time, and doesn't learn from experience or the obvious. Some people still think the world is flat, too. Everyone on the left has been wrong so far; I doubt that will change,. The whining may be ongoing- but so will the fact it's only whining. The only honest aspect of that is that it reveals the real strength and character of such people, and it's not pretty. Actually, it makes many Americans ashamed of them.

A lot of the stuff he says is gobbledygook but he is absolutely correct that the press is a joke. There isn't a person left who believes the crap they spew unless they are an incredibly partisan person.

The very definition of propaganda is to use information to mislead. The free press isn't using propaganda to mislead, but the President is. For example: the travel ban was sold as a way to keep us safe from terrorism. Once it started through the court system, the administration went to DHS and asked for data to support their conclusion. That's backward engineering… and most definitely propaganda, since the data actually says that the travel ban won't keep us safe from terrorism. So, the very institutions that you claim are producing propaganda are exposing it from the ones creating it- the administration. You don't have to believe anything the news media says, but that doesn't mean they are partisan and producing propaganda. They are the last ditch effort to keep state media from controlling what the people know… like happens in fascist countries.

It is not the job of the media to respect the president. Trump's pushback against the media isn't about relitigating the election. He won. Now he's in office and doing the job. The media is reporting on the job he is doing and reporting on the things that are happening. It's their job to put the facts out there and let the people decide the importance of them. I don't know how old you are, but Watergate happened right before I was old enough to vote. I thank God for the free press. Without them, the Presidency would have been completely corrupted.

People have the right to think or say whatever they want. That's a first amendment right. No one, including the press, is free from the consequences of what they say, so the press cannot simply lie to us and tell us it's the truth. The President, on the other hand, has lied straight to the people- remember the numbers at the inauguration? If he is allowed to lie without consequence, then what's to stop him from lying about enriching himself or his cronies, or lying us into a war? The press has to keep him honest. It's their role to tell us what he is doing or not doing. I realize that is a new thing for Trump and he doesn't much like it. That's too bad, because it is part of the job. He can't make everyone sign a non-disclosure agreement, like he did in business.

I get that you don't like people saying that Trump is not their President. It's not like others didn't say the same thing with W and Obama though. People have fought and died for their right to say that. People have fought and died for the same first amendment right that also protect the free press… because our very democracy depends on it. American lives are on the line right now protecting our way of life, our secrets, our institutions. I'll point out those lives are on the line, and the President can't be bothered to have security briefings. How do I know that? The press.

I'll agree with you that the media isn't the boss. I'll remind you that the President isn't either. He works for the people. Every misstep he makes directly impacts the people. Every decision he makes directly impacts the people. I'm fine with scrutinizing the media, holding their feet to the fire, and expecting them to give us their best work. They obviously didn't do that during the election or we wouldn't be where we are now, but they are investigating things that need to be checked out. The free press is holding the same level of scrutiny to the Oval Office, as I expect them to do.

Sorry bois darc chunk, but this is the actual meaning of the English word, propaganda in the OED according to the originators of the English language therefore the definers thereof. How Americans use the word is what you saw first on google:
    1. (More fully, Congregation or College of the Propaganda.) A committee of Cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church having the care and oversight of foreign missions, founded in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV.
    2. Any association, systematic scheme, or concerted movement for the propagation of a particular doctrine or practice.
    3. The systematic propagation of information or ideas by an interested party, esp. in a tendentious way in order to encourage or instil a particular attitude or response. Also, the ideas, doctrines, etc., disseminated thus; the vehicle of such propagation.

So, propaganda isn’t intrinsically evil only something used by the powers that be. But American media is the very reason why Americans use the word propaganda in a derogatory view. The American press has been this kind of vehicle for how did google want you to view it information, promotion, advertising, publicity, spin, going all the way back to the Adams and Jefferson days. You should note also that google is also a form of media that has openly supported Hillary. Therefore, has its political agendas also.

If you’ve been around during the media’s treatment of JFK, LBJ, Nixon, and especially the Vietnam war. You would understand the media is strictly about what they can get from something fanning fires of controversy to control the subject everyone has to talk about through the media. (Take note that is what they are trying to do with a guy like Trump.)
Spitting on US solders coming home from horrors of war was a proud moment for spin doctors of the media that they can manipulate Americans to do such things. It is well documented that the US military never lost a battle when they met the enemy in nam but you wouldn’t have known that by the media. That information wasn’t serving their agenda. If you don’t think this is true, there is a reason the military didn’t let media go with the troops in desert storm. What you see and hear from the media is information that serves their agendas, you don’t hear or see anything else from them. Its contrary to corporate interest to waist valued air time on anything else.

It’s kind of like pharmaceuticals would loss out to a cure for what their meds treat. Or sugar conglomerates would loss out to sugarless soft drinks. Hence media would loss out to political solutions subduing controversy to hold public interest and sell air time. It’s unrealistic to think of it anyway else, an idealistic view of the existence of the media isn't realistic.

Of course, some of what is reported in the media is to drive clicks, hits, or subscriptions. That's why we get Pandas being shipped out for breeding, grandmas weight-lifting, and the kid asking not to have PBS funds used to build the wall, in the news. News used to be a public service of the broadcasting corporations. Now, the news is expected to cover its own cost through advertising and that means getting hits, clicks, subscriptions, and viewership. So, we get Infortainment, instead of only hard news, but we do get some hard news. What Trump tweets shouldn't be news, but it is now because of his position. What Trump tweets is just as manipulative, if not more so, than anything in the newscast. He is trying to control the news cycle and the narrative. So is the media. See something on the news about Russia, and you can be sure there will soon be some kind of distracting tweet from the President. It's become a game on the internet to monitor and record the pattern. It's not just the media's fault. Trump is often instigating the controversy. I just don't think Trump will win the fight he has picked. His base loves it, but everyone else doesn't. Eventually, Trump has to realize that the people that didn't vote for him have as much a voice in how things are going as the ones that did. I've not seen a motivated grassroots effort to protest the government, like I see now, since Vietnam, and it's not a pro-Trump movement. Even Chris Christie said Republicans are feeling the heat. That's not a sign Trump is winning. Neither are the polls that show people trust the media more than Trump.

I was indeed around to see the treatment of JFK, LBJ, Nixon, et al. My dad was a Korean vet and I grew up very near a military base. If you were around then, you may remember metal POW bracelets, engraved with missing soldier's name, missing date, rank etc. As a teen, I wore a POW bracelet for 3 years, until my soldier was located and brought home for burial. Then I mailed the bracelet to his widow. Later, as an adult visiting the Vietnam Memorial, I found his name on the wall can carry a rubbing of it in my wallet... to this day. They looked like this...

Journalists were told they weren't well protected in Desert Storm, but they were embedded with troops. I also remember Wolf Blitzer broadcasting from Baghdad live, during the Gulf War. He put CNN on the map journalistically. No one else was covering things from the inside.

So if google returns lots of CNN hits on the issue, I know its fake news. But what do YOU believe was done between the Russians and Trumpsters? And what was the "deal with Flynn to which you refer? I know the MSM keep fluffing this story as if there is something there, but so far, I haven't heard of anything other than perhaps some people in the Trump campaign who already may have had relations with Russians and Russian officials in the course of a lifetime of government or business affairs.

Was there evidence of "If you do this, we will do that"? Any at all? Bueler?

You know, of the type that says the state department will approve sale of 20% of US uranium reserves to companies owned by Putin cronies in return for a $145 million donation to the Clinton Foundation? Now THERE is some corruption that needs to be investigated and prosecuted. Is there anything like that involving Trump?

What do I believe was done between the Russians and the Trump people? I don't have enough facts to draw any conclusions yet. There's just lots of people close to Trump that have Russian connections, more than I remember from anyone else in politics. That doesn't mean he's guilty of anything, but the sheer number of connections are rather remarkable. I'm just following the stories, as they are released.

The Flynn deal was that he lied to the VP about phone calls and messages with the Russian ambassador. I don't know why he lied, just that he did and it cost him his job. If, as Trump said, Flynn did nothing wrong, why was he fired? To me the bigger question is why Trump or the White House Counsel didn't inform Pence about the situation for nearly two weeks, knowing Pence's reputation was on the line vouching for Flynn.

As to the quid pro quo, there are rumors and the timing of some actions is suspect, but other than that, no hard evidence has come forward yet. There's lots of smoke, but there may or may not be an actual fire. A single change to the GOP platform having to do with Ukraine and weapons is a bit odd, and I don't know what to make of it. Flynn being fired plays into the speculation, of course, since he was talking about lifting sanctions. Sanctions against Russia for taking Crimea are keeping Rostnef and Exxon-Mobile from lifting what is estimated to be a half a trillion dollars worth of oil. Whether or not things were done in trade remains to be proven, and the investigations are relatively young, so we'll see once they do more investigating. I just remember "follow the money" from Nixon days and $500 billion is lots of money.

As far as the uranium deal, Snopes says it's false. Of course, charges being false didn't stop multiple investigations of Benghazi, so I suppose what you believe depends on partisanship. http://www.snopes.com/hillary-clinton-uranium-russia-deal/ Here's the thing though, selling uranium has nothing to do with Russia attempting to influence our election. It's just an attempt to "whataboutism" some kind of false equivalency. I'm anti-corruption, no matter the party.

As far as Trump being directly involved in something nefarious with Russians... there's some evidence of him being involved in money laundering through real estate deals and funding sources for some of Trump's projects. Once he took that billion dollar loss, American banks wouldn't loan him money. Russian oligarchs would and there are direct ties to Russian financiers. The thing about Russians with money is, they don't tend to have money unless they are directly connected to Putin. How people feel about that probably breaks down along partisan lines as well. I think we'll all know eventually, just what's what with Russia's influence in our election. How or if Trump is tied into that influence will probably come out too.

Can't get much worse than it is right now. I think a lot of people are sick of it already. Next year 23 Democrat Senators are up for re-election 10 of which are in states that voted for Trump. The backlash could sweep the Republicans into a 62 seat super majority in the Senate. There's a lot of Trump derangement syndrome out there. Just check out the Current Events board and count the number of anti Trump Threads.
