What you need to do is ask representatives from black communities what they think of "little black sambo" and "aunt Jemima".

There has been "fighting back". But, the issue is gaining equal opportunity in today's society.

Quaker Oats did that, and thus discontinued products touting Aunt Jemima.

Sambo's did that, and switched the name of their remaining restaurants to "Chad's".

It's often amusing to read the OP of a thread and then see what's been posted most recently. Often, the 'discussion' has strayed far from the original concept. This thread is no exception.

The word educated has various connotations based upon both context and also upon who is discussing it. Professors from our major universities would consider an educated person one who is skilled in logic, capable of reflective thought, and widely read, among other characteristics. They would consider the function of the university to be the teaching of these skills. This differs from a modern concept of higher education which can be expressed as, 'How much does the degree bring in the job market?'

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

It's often amusing to recall the English I learned in school and then see what's been posted most recently. Often, grammar and spelling have strayed far from the original concept. This thread is no exception.

    Hi, Thingamabob.

We actually have three variants of the English language here in the US. There's the formal written English I and others use when, for example, writing non-fiction for publication. Then there's the, er, you know, like, the English we use in conversation. Finally, there's texting English, still evolving rapidly before our eyes.

When posting here, my style is closer to written English, though I leaven it with an imaginary editor who reminds me from time to time that I have feet of the plainest clay. {Ed.: You said that, not me, dude.]

Regards, and best wishes to you and yours.

Nope. All you said was: "I agree that practicing Muslims are not culturally Christian despite living in my country so it obviously takes more than that to be culturally anything." But you did not say what separates you from Muslims in terms of being "culturally Christian." That's because you have nothing to back this up. Because you're not actually "culturally Christian." :roflol:

You just quoted me in full but you haven't read the words in front of you:

    1). Open your eyes.
    2). See.
    3). Look.
    4). Read.
    5). Get a dictionary.
6). Ask someone who understands English comprehension to explain it to you. :confuse:

Here are you words again: "I agree that practicing Muslims are not culturally Christian despite living in my country so it obviously takes more than that to be culturally anything." But you did not say what separates you from Muslims in terms of being "culturally Christian." That's because you have nothing to back this up. Because you're not actually "culturally Christian." :roflol:

    EXACTLY!
It's right there in my words. Read it!
Drop the :alcoholic: and try this :coffeemachine::coffeecup: instead. When you're finished with that then read my words again or :nerd: get someone to read it for you.

You said: "it obviously takes more than that to be culturally anything." What I am saying is, that you have not said what that "more" is. You said that you are culturally Christian because you were raised Christian and live in a country where Christian holidays are observed and celebrated. But as you say, that includes practicing Muslims, so by this definition of "culturally Christian", Muslims are just as "culturally Christian" as you are, regardless of the fact that they are practicing Muslims.

If you had an argument for how you are so incredibly "culturally Christian" you would have already presented it! :roflol:

Everything is in that VERY SIMPLE quote. The fact that you do not understand it is due to English comprehension ..... the lack thereof. FYI, I might have made it easier for you but your nasty personal comments and smartass emoticons made me change my mind. So, you'll just have to flounder. Oh, and there will be no prize if you finally figure it out.

Like you were EVER going to "make it easier" for me, whatever that would have meant, even without my "nasty personal comments." And I will "have to flounder?" You think that I care if you don't support your claims? Well guess what, I don't. I just like to give people the opportunity to support their claims - sometimes they take the opportunity, and sometimes they do not, just like you have not. All you have said is that you were raised Catholic, and that you proceeded to renounce you Catholicism later in life, and you even have the documents to prove it. Yes, you're just so unbelievably culturally Christian! :roflol:

Yes, I was. But your behaviour doesn't deserve sympathy so you'll just have to continue "whistling in the dark".
