I think guns are the central issue.
Not just because Iam a gun owner. I do wonder why our nations leaders would want us to be less armed or even disarmed.
    For what purpose or reason.
Crime? Enforce the laws that are on the books already.
Safety? Who's safety? How about make the world less safe for criminals by getting rid of gun free zones where criminals can shoot without worry of anyone shooting back.

Problem is, congress is not passing the bills into law. And the people who author the bills and the president cant take that as an answer.
They wish to end around and re-introduce over and over.
All the while the country is falling apart.
Yet they wish to do the gun control dance in the face of all the other issues.
Makes me wonder why controlling my guns is so damn important to them.
When in every poll, guns are only important to about 4% of the nation.

oh bull. None of the laws which Kansas says they will no longer allow the federal government to enforce in KS take away anyone's guns.

And if you have even one bit of rational thought in your head you realize that no one will EVER garner the votes necessary to repeal the 2nd Amendment. Your gun rights aren't going anywhere. And the ONLY way someone could even enforce such a law would be to use the military , and the military would NEVER comply. They simply wouldn't.

Your gun rights are safe.Intellectually you must know that.

Anyone and everyone who wants to ban guns and take them away from the American people are sub-humans who should be killed. I hope that when/if Eric Holder and his cronies come after Kansas they are shot and hung up by their heels.

The hell with leaving the union, I say we go further. We honor the Constitution both ways. All bets are off when the Feds become such a large machine that they roll over any State that is not in lock step. Such as Eric Holder is now doing. This is not a new idea.

Why do we have States? No, The Union will stay intact (Maybe) and the people one day will see that liberty means more than food stamps, welfare, Healthcare, Republican, Democrat. Big Government is the problem and is drunk on power. Like I said, this is more than just guns.

Why is it now common place for the feds to sue individual States? Could it be that citizens are growing tired of Federals being heavy handed on both sides?

I find no comfort with both parties being so entrenched and not willing to respect power or liberty. Nothing good ever comes from it.

I am looking forward to having some good beer tonight at the local pub with family and friends while others debate and pass laws/regulations that are best for me.

Sometimes the best leadership is letting people be people. Good or bad, success or failure and not worry about what a neighbor is doing.

    what?

Dude the SCOTUS was set up precisely to handle cases between the States and the Federal government. The founding fathers encouraged such lawsuits when difference of opinions arose with both sides recognizing that the SCOTUS had the power to arbitrate. Why? Because they wanted the US to endure and not be broken up over such differences. So you arguing that states shouldn't sue or be sued is being ignorant of history.

There have been hundreds, if not thousands of cases heard before SCOTUS which were states versus feds.

If they are safe its only because people are now starting to pay attention and push back.
Organization like the NRA, like them or not, are applying more pressure to safe guard our rights.
If we do nothing now, there will be no stopping the assaults on the 2A later that are sure to come.
You still didnt answer me on what you would do if a gun or guns you own would become illegal.
You still didnt answer me on why they dont enforce the thousands of gun laws that are on the books now?

Guy, there has been talk of "getting the guns" for years, no one has even tried yet. This isn't something new. And the NRA has nothing to do with it, it hasn't happened because the numbers aren't there, and they never will be. Sure there are a few whackadoodles out there, but they will never get the votes needed to do anything.

I have a federal dealer license so no weapon I own is likely to be made illegal to me. However for the sake of argument let's say the impossible happened and it were. I fully admit that those guns would not be around when the confiscators showed up.

I can not even begin to answer to why they don't enforce the gun laws that are already on the books.

States and Sherrifs have more rights than many of you ascribe to them. For instance, on farm water rights, there is a group of Sheriffs that have made it clear to the EPA cronies that if Federal EPA officials step on their citizens properties without permission, that they will be arrested. The last thing the Obama Administration wants to do is send Federal Agents to have a face off with Local Law Enforcement. It will be televised and the revolt against Democrats nationwide in the subsequent election will be brutal. I say... bring it on Holder!

um what? Why would the EPA concern itself with intra state waterways? You realize that each state has a state EPA and they enforce state law within states don't you?

Let Holder and Obama send their jack booted thugs to Kansas, how do you think the federal authorities holding guns to the heads of woman and children is going to play out on your television screen.

I guess its ok to terrorize citizens of the United States as long as you have a badge and a gun.

    Article VI section 2

States do not have the power to nullify federal law, they can challenge them in court, but they cannot nullify them. We fought a long and very bloody war over that issue in the 1860's and the nullification side was crushed.

since the feds are now demanding that Washington shut down all medical marijuana dispensary's and have said they will enforce that order, we will see how things go.

Are you saying that you personally will stand and fight? Or let someone else do it for you?

You are referring to a legal doctrine called Federal Preemption. It does not apply in all cases.

There are laws on the books that have made no attempt to pursue the intent of the constitution. This is an obvious thing. Just as some in this thread have said, we should use the courts to change these laws, shouldn't we be amending the Constitution instead of laying down laws that pretend to be Constitution? We stopped amending the Constitution because it is easier to pass questionable laws than it is to amend.

A law that is not intended to follow the Constitution can be nullified because it is NOT made in Pursuance thereof. That makes it a State issue. Now, if the Federal government wants to take it to court, let them. If they want to wear their big boy britches and try to man handle the good people of Kansas by use of force, let me know where and when.

Splendid and swimmingly, just like it did when Democratic President Clinton's gestapo, with fighter planes, war tanks and flamethrowers launched a Nazi-style blitzkrieg against a harmless Christian place of worship (The Branch Davidians) in Waco, Texas. Clinton's storm troopers burned alive scores of women and small children as Democrats all across America watched, cheered and applauded the Christian massacre on their television screens.

Democrats claimed the massacre was conducted to punish the Davidians for harboring illegal guns. And to the delight of Democrats, the claim turned out to be true -- Clinton's jack-booted storm troopers found two guns among the charred rubble and children's flesh -- one single-shot, 22 calibre rifle and a double-barreled shotgun -- both used for small varmint control on the Davidian's rural and humble property.

Like most europeans, you are way misinformed of the Waco situation.

Frankly those people in the Waco siege got what they deserved. Yes it was a botched operation but they were stockpiling illegal weapons and the federal government had every right to serve an arrest warrant.

I would LOVE to see F-troop's thugs crap their pants when they discover they are staring down the cannon of an M-1 Abrams tank of the Kansas National Guard!

Holder should have been strung up as an accessory before the fact to murder of a Federal agent!
