the only information about you collected is what you yourself put out their publicly

    - - - Updated - - -

you have the right to say what ever you want, but if you publicly say your gonna kill someone, I think it should be investigated

So, government has no ability to abuse their power in this way?

sure they do, but you offered the information freely, you have the right to remain silent, anything you say publicly CAN and WILL be used against you if you commit a crime

you are confusing saying "I'm going to bomb the wh" on facebook getting you put on a watch list with "obama is the worst president ever" on facebook getting you put on a watch list.

would you have trusted Nixon with this kind of power? Because I don't trust Obama with it.

I could easily say Nixon would have been fine with that power because I wasn't going to end up on his list. Both parties can and will abuse this power. you either seem naive about that fact, or don't care as long as it's your guy in charge.

It's the same technique The Decider used to protect us from all those attempted terrorist attacks when he was president.

Right, because humans never abuse, especially when the power to abuse is so tempting and right in front of them. Our gov't/people all act in kindness to all people.

No one is dumb enough to publish in a format that is digital and captured forever anything that would be demeaning to anyone and possibly criminal to the poster.
Posting something digital is akin to having something you say recorded. Actually, it is recorded and tracebable.

    Or wearable smart clothes.

    - - - Updated - - -

I am quite sure the same thing. Most aren't so ignorant to know that when 1 party does something to gain knowledge or power, it will disappear when the next party gets control.
Only partisan idiots would think such a thing.

    - - - Updated - - -

Of course they could. But one has put it out in the public arena. Similar to standing on a rooftop yelling exactly what they will do.

How does one get by in the world today without putting out information which a government agency, like the NSA, FBI or IRS could abuse?

less and less, you're right.... but that doesn't mean I want a list created to monitor people "who spread misinformation" because as evident on this board.... people define "misinformation" as "any opinion that doesn't line up with your opinion"

When we have a president that seems to have used the IRS to target political adversaries

We have people who will try and label FCS/FCA a hate group because they support traditional marraige, and if anyone donates to them, like Chic-fil-a, they must support hate and be driven out of business.

But it happens on both sides of the aisle. Nixon had a list he kept. With his paranoia, and today's technology.... he would have been dangerous

Funding runs out after this election cycle - in 2015.

 Clearly, you didn't read the article posted in the OP. The Obamunists running this "progressive" surveillance operation have made it clear that its purpose is purely political.

    What could possibly go wrong?

well, I tried to give benefit of the doubt to FA.... but it's clear

"govt spying and lists for our safety" is bad if conservativess do it,

"govt spying and lists for our safety" is ok if liberals do it

    Partisan politics is partisan.

    - - - Updated - - -

we agree. I mean, I understand that Obama used to the IRS to attack people he had monitored BEFORE this little twitterapp.... but allowing more and more tools for him to use, is never a good idea

That goes for the New McCarthyites who have been conducting the Left's political witch hunts, too.

And when it comes to Democrats shoveling taxpayer money to the partisan operatives they are in bed with, the $1 million in taxpayer money going to fund this "progressive" surveillance operation is just the tip of the iceberg (think ACORN, for starters). It's no wonder progs scream bloody murder when Republicans try to slash federal spending.

And that's why Lois Lerner copped a "wannabe" Fifth and demanded "wannabe" immunity from prosecution - to conceal her "wannabe" innocence.

I found the perfect antidote to this kind of Government surveillance of the "social" networks... I don't have anything to do with any of them. I wouldn't touch Facebook with a twenty-foot pole, and I have never posted anything on Twitter. I marvel that anyone would, and, IMHO, you're begging for trouble of several different kinds if you do.... :buggered:

I have said that 3 times on this page alone.... you seem to think that's ok though apparently....

careful.... seems like those emails that didn't exist, really do still exist and simply need to be combed through. I would sure hate to see you eat crow thinking it was never going to come out, but then BAM, it does.....

do you think it will stop at Facebook.... do you use google?
