That post seriously cracked me up. He said it like we legally have to legalize pedophilia if we legalize gay marriage! LMAO! I can't believe anyone takes these excuses seriously.

I don't know how much you follow what the "culture wars" here in America are. But one of the defining elements is homosexuality. The fact the country is changing pretty rapidly (something like 52% of Americans now support gay marriage), the conservative politicians are more careful with their rhetoric (most of the time, and recently some Republicans voted in favor of gay marriage in New York). They used to talk about pedophilia and perversion. Now they have changed their tune. They say they are in favor of "traditional marriage," as if anything that goes against tradition is automatically wrong (pretty lame logic actually). They try to package it and make it sound like it's a reasonable position, when in fact it's just homophobia being rewrapped in a new package.

That's the only thing in the pole that I could see happening. And I don't think it's a bad thing either...except it might get confusing with taxes.

But why should the state have any say in how many husbands or wives you can have?

 

I wouldn't say the Muslim culture of marrying young girls is pedophilia. Because traditionally you aren't supposed to do anything sexual with the girls until they are of a certain age. Though it certainly does make it easy on pedophiles. And it's absolutely hard on the women.

If 15 were the age of consent and they were both consensual, of course. But that leads us to the topic of age of consent -- a whole other discussion.

homosexual marriage will logically lead to polyamory marriages where more than 2 people marry because those are not that different from homosexuals marrying or traditional marriage.

polygamy doesn't seem consensual but in polyamory all the adults are consenting so it would lead to that type of marriage...

 

For those of you who might be religious Mary seems by all accounts to have been around twelve when she married a much older carpenter Joseph. So it seems the age of consent has been much lower.

This is in no indication that I think pedophilia is a good thing.
