The "LGBT" has a successful lobby because being gay is not an illegal activity. There are no victims of 'willing adult gay relationships.' It's a legal status, a legal activity and a generally 'acceptable' way of life. The same cannot be said for child-rapists. You are comparing a legal activity with Left, Center and Right-wing support with rape. The gay lobby has the support of many Independents and the Right on equality grounds, due to the fact that it's a victimless activity in-and-of itself.

That's your problem and you need to make the distinction.

I don't think it'll lead to anything in particular, but I do think it SHOULD lead to polygamy. Anyone who supports gay marriage and does NOT support polygamy is, in my opinion, being inconsistent.

If straight and gay relationships are going to be recognized, then so should polygamous relationships.

Of course, I believe state-sanctioned marriages ought to be abolished altogether, but that is another argument.

 

It was not long ago that sodomy was illegal in all states.

I wish it had more right-wing support. All of the current Presidential candidates are taking discriminatory stances against homosexuals, aside from Jon Huntsman, who said he favored civil unions. And polls of the Tea Party show that a majority do not favor gay rights. There are a few Republicans, like David Frum or the Log Cabin Republicans, but overall the party is not welcoming to homosexuals.
