You can't speak for society ...speak for yourself....unless you can PROVE what "society" thinks....

    Christians are always baffled.

So in your definition of murder the female could only be prosecuted as an accessory to murder as she is actually not the one doing the killing .. of course then with a decent lawyer the woman could mount a defense of diminished responsibility or even in the US 'irresistible impulse', thus the conviction could be downgraded to manslaughter .. so calling a woman who gets an abortion a murderer technically could be incorrect.

How does your analogy stack up against the death penalty or war, are these "natural causes" and if not why do you support them (if you do that is), why do you accept the governments decision to wage war and state decisions to have the death penalty if you cannot accept the law concerning abortion?
Why is it morally acceptable to murder another person, or as some prefer to say, execute?
Why are morals temporarily overruled when it comes to waging war?

Hmm .. even though different societies have different ways of defining murder .. even in the US you have a number of ways of defining murder, so would abortion be

    first degree murder
    second degree murder
    etc etc etc

and even after this, the worst the female can be is an accomplice .. remember she doesn't actually kill anything.

    Oh please.
Look at your society. How does murder happen in YOUR society. Is it when someone dies of natural causes in their sleep? If you are confused by how OUR society defines the act of murder then I can't help ya.

In the U.S abortion is legal. Legalized murder if you will. So all your categories don't apply. But if it did---I suppose it would be classified like the murder of any other human being. And there are many and all depends on the circumstances, motivations and the callousness.

Regarding your statement that the woman isn't actually killing anything....keep in mind that if two burglers intrude into a house and the homeowner shoots one and kills him/her, then the other burgler is charged with murder. And he killed no one. Just something to think about.

Our society is not to far off from the Biblical norms....meaning we have lawful execution, we know the meaning of murder (apparently not the meaning of life though) and we realize there is a time for peace and there is a time for war. A time to live and eventually a time to die.

We are a very, very long way from "biblical norms"

Define lawful execution under biblical law
Define the need for war under biblical law

I used to be a Christian, but so many things about the faith, including what I just described here, confused the hell out of me and made absolutely no logical sense. Just one of the many reasons I stopped believing.

One of the biggest reasons though is the fact that the Christian God said 'thou shalt not kill' yet advocates atrocious crimes against humanity, first and foremost rape, murder and pillaging of all peoples young and old. I don't know why anyone would worship such an evil deity and I especially do not know why people who advocate against abortion so vehemently also worship this same God who condones dashing children against rocks.

Is he charged in the same way as the person who actually killed, or is he charged with a lesser degree of murder?

Who said God isn't capable of taking life? What about the flood? How do any of you know anything about God's intentions? I could be that we are being genetically manipulated by HIM. I have a question though....The PIX in the OP has verbiage to the effect that women don't even know when God aborts them so....How can they be called abortions in the first place?

I didn't say anything about Biblical law. I said Biblical norms. Meaning our commonsense truths and values still tend to be based on Biblical truth and values.

Fair enough .. though our "biblical norms" pre-date biblical times and are pretty much based on the time and society we live in.

Pasithea, God isn't the play toy so many people imagine him to be. He isn't a comforting security blanket.

Many of the things people will accuse God of are more likely them thinking God needs to follow their rules. Forgetting that he in fact is the creator. Alpha and Omega. Beginning AND end. Do you think its so easy (as many christians do) to comprehend God? Not even a possibility. Deaths of infants in the womb, or deaths of anyone in general are under the guidance of God.

Oh and to answer another question that I have seen asked in this thread is why we save lives. E.G. Why don't we let people with heart attacks die? Since obviously God thinks its time to go? They aren't dead yet. So we do our best to save their lives. If God believes it is time for them indeed to go, there is nothing for us to do. We play God through murder and wrongful killing (such as abortion). Letting people die is in many ways just the same. Its not our place, nor our job to decide.

Obviously by giving them a heart attack or other fatal illness God intends for them to die, painful or otherwise. Why interfere with his will and save them?

So you are saying that man has superseeded god then, if god didn't want a fetus to die then, being as he is all powerful, nothing man could do would matter .. surely if god can form a man from dust, he/she/it can stop an abortion, also why did god make us so that we could invent such things as abortion.

If its his will our "interference" won't stop them from dying. Besides, we don't decide when and where his will is in place. It encompasses everything. We are not to disregard innocent life. This is one of the commandments. Thus, we do all we can, because God tells us to care for our lives and other peoples. Their lives just as our own are gifts from him.

I don't know who your "we" is but you should only speak for yourself.

"We" are not to disregard human life but your god can? Sounds raher cruel and two-faced....I'm glad god doesn't exist.

And I really think all this goddy religious stuff belongs in the religion forum...this is the abortion forum.

    Eh
it would take more explaining about God being the creator and we the creatures(the inequality in beings)and all but I agree this is not the place for it.

Yet he allows our interference to cause death, so that must be his will too since he made no effort to stop it?

This is why most of the time you cannot have a meaningful honest discussion with a leftist.
A natural miscarriage is an abortion only to the extent a naturally caused heart attack is a murder.

Now, can we stop with the silliness and stick to logical reasonable arguments?

The reason you cannot understand God at all is because you view the world from the standpoint that you should be god.
Human beings do not die when their bodies do, they merely leave this plane of existence. It is not only Christians who beleive this.
God allows our interference to cause deaths because we are here to be tested. Those who kill without just cause flunk out.

This is nothing more than a perception based on biased views, how do you know that your "understanding" of god is the right understanding .. has he/she/it told you it is correct, or are you basing it on a book written 2,000 years ago by man for an entirely different culture and time?
Why is your book of stories any more credible and right than the Qu'ran, or the Vedas.

    how is that possible when you post the following;

"The reason you cannot understand God at all is because you view the world from the standpoint that you should be god.
Human beings do not die when their bodies do, they merely leave this plane of existence. It is not only Christians who beleive this.
God allows our interference to cause deaths because we are here to be tested. Those who kill without just cause flunk out. "

There is nothing logical or reasonable in that statement, so please practice what you preach.
