What is this hurry to build new Hospitals? Pardon me Roy but a hospital without the staff and doctors is little more than a very expensive warehouse. You need more hospital beds open up military and VA hospitals.

Worse than a warehouse. They would have to stocked with the newest equipment and kept sanitary for immediate use. They would be nothing but money pits...

Italy despite their terrible results so far from Covid19, has more doctors and hospital beds per capita than we do.

Which would be the point unless you know where we can find more techs nurses and doctors building hospitals is pointless.

beds to house the sick, where do you think we should put them, yes, the staff may be spread thin

but as someone said, the infected that recover would be perfect hires to care for the newly sick as they would be immune

Don't we have military bases with lots of former barracks sitting empty since we have reduced our military???

Yeah, building to the high and expensive standards of masonry, brick, plate glass, and all the rest of the strict codes applicable to hospitals really doesn't make sense for a facility that might get used six-months in five years for epidemics or pandemics. Even MASH type tent units would work in a pinch.

Those are pretty much to capacity too, I would venture to guess.

If the projections play out, yes, we would be warehousing people, and I would think if you would be so unfortunate to be there, you would not be so picky about who was there to care for you -- in any capacity. It's called being humane.

No it's called incompetence. Humane is trained staff treating patients, inhumane is expecting Joe the short order cook to know about medical care on any level. You hospitalized people who are seriously compromised by this disease not people who are merely inconvenienced by it.

they would be quick trained how to care for them, your choice woudl be the street or that.. they would be more like nurses

you take what you can get when there is no other options

would not be hard to train someone how to give you a sponge bath, bring you food, ect....

but if one wants to turn down the ventilator because they don't like who is helping them... that will be their choice - most would be happy these caring people are willing to help them

Democrats say every country is better then America. Hear it here all the time. America is the devil and needs to be fundamentally transformed into a global socialist police state run by oligarchs out of Europe.

I believe you’re missing the point, temporary hospitals, think of what the military does overseas addressing crises. Not brick and mortar but tents. This should be on the military’s plate right now but we’re behind the curve testing and flying blind on the logistics.

Test, test, test. Prepare for the worst. Hope for the best.

The Gohmert/Paul antics need to stop and McConnell needs to remove his head from his rear. The negotiating away displaced workers needs dithering going on needs to stop.

    its also called assinine...

the virus is affecting the weak and you want them to remain in a facility to care for other weak folk just so they'll get sick again, great idea.

i say, force all the armchair quarterbacks to work in infected areas & care for the infected folks...

We need more hospitals because too many sick people next to each other is a bad thing.

The hospital in my area has 1 foot separation and a curtain between some patients and that's under normal conditions. I cannot imagine what they would do in a disaster. It is not a problem of staff but if rooms for recovery.

What point? That without doctors and nurses and technicians it doesn't matter what you put really sick people in they are unlikely to have a good outcome

If infected folks have clinical symptoms and need a bed or cot, and need what palliative treatment is available (no anti-virals, no immunization) they're going to put them somewhere, and they're going to arrange for someone to care for them, trying to keep them as close as possible to home. If they want to load me on a 6x6 and it's that or nothing, I'm not going to refuse.

It wouldn't take that long to train lay people to one disease which is the only disease they are going to see. You would still need RN's, EMT's, phlebotomists, or former and presently serving military medics, and possibly LPN's to insert the IV's however.

    don't need 'brick-n-mortar' structures...

the army has plenty of mash tents & cots to house the ill...

places like cali already have 'tent cities', house them there...

Most if not all of the former military folk in those areas are already working in the private sector in those fields. As we age as a population those fields are in chronically short supply.

Well, traditionally we used to know where the bucks stop....have you reached out to your god Trump and prayed to him for more doctors?

It's not like we have not known of a doctor and nurse shortage for years now.
