You don't have to; nor do I have to accept your viewpoint.

Starving for want is not proof of anything, it only means you are stubborn, not that you are correct, the fact that starvation ends in death proves you wrong.

You sure as hell don't have to accept my view point but you are either delusional or flat out lying if you think everyone accepts your viewpoint.

How could anyone agree with his apathetic point of view ?

I think some people resign themselves to the fact that he has some strange views while not necessarily agreeing with them.

I understand what you are saying.

I do not carry a gun out of fear, I carry as a precaution.
Rabid or Wild animals are a danger you can run into sometimes, just by simply taking out the trash.

I have no known enemies per say, although I put quite a few really bad people in jail, it is like having a fire extinguisher, or a spare tire, you will not know you need it, until the need arises.

I advocate training, you do not have to own a firearm to get training, some people do not hunt or have any regular use for firearms, however, in My case, I have been attacked while walking peacefully through a Park for instance, I was able to defend Myself, friends have not been so lucky.

I think a lot depends where you live, what your doing, ect.... if I was camping\living where there were wild animals, I would want a gun

I was watching the series Life Below Zero and one of the guys had a felony when younger, I thought that was crazy that he could not own a real gun to protect himself in that situation, living in the wild is one scenario you definitely need that kinda protection, I think every American should have the right to own a gun to protect their homes and families and even hunt to put food on the table if they wish

Honestly, I don't care if anyone "accepts" my viewpoint including you. The fact is that's what I believe in and that's the way it is like it or not.

Your viewpoint is that of a very cold, callous person. I know no one that would not help their children or other family members if their life was in peril. WOW.

This makes me question you motive for gun control. If you don't care about saving your family from imminent danger, then why do you care about gun legislation that supposedly would save the lives of perfect strangers?

OH quit. No one wants to live with the fact that they took a life. We just want to be able to save our lives or the lives of our loved ones if necessary. I know thats hard for anti gunners to digest, but that is really all its about.
If you think legal firearm owners WANT to kill someone, then that is delusional. IF they wanted to kill someone they would do it. No need to put it off until the chance that maybe someday they have their home invaded.
There is nothing rational about the thinking behind your statement.

    Fallacy of hyperbole.
Why do you believe reasoned, thinking people will be swayed by your fallacious arguments?

In Alaska, having a felony does prevent someone from having a weapon for self defense in the wild. You cannot carry concealed or have certain weapons, but you can have a shotgun and any black powder gun. I believe, after 10 years crime free you can petition to have your gun rights restored. As for a shotgun, while when out and about and when fishing I carried a large .44mag revolver at the time, considered minimum for 4 legged defense up there, I would not like relying on one... I usually carried a 12 gauge as a primary defensive gun.

I'm not going to discuss it further since I can already see some of the posters twisting what I've said to fit their agenda. Sorry.

If you didn't care that we don't accept it you wouldn't have to justify it by lying and saying we all accept it.

Oh look at that. He's quick to voice an opinion that nothing matters but when you ask him how that fits in with supporting gun control and he keeps dodging it.

    Self-fulfilling prophecies are fun!

If someone had a knife to your throat right now I doubt you'd be so apathetic about life.

Maybe your fear of guns is based on having no exposure to them?

If you're capable of driving a car safely, you're capable of owning a firearm.

There's only a few things you need to do to safely own a firearm.

    1) Treat the firearm as if a round is chambered, even when you "know" there's not.
    2) Control the muzzle keeping #1 in mind
    3) Keep your finger off the trigger until you want it to go bang
    4) Never carry a firearm anywhere other than your hand, a proper case with the action locked back, a well designed holster, or a gun safe.

A gun accident always breaks one or more of those 4 simple rules.

Owning a gun for the first time is about as scary as driving for the first time. The trick to owning a gun, just like with driving a car, is to develop the right habits and not take shortcuts.

Can this also be attributed to other factors?
    Be honest, now...

    1. Correlation does not equal causation
    2. It dropped by as much or more in the US, despite record setting numbers of guns being sold
    3. You don't have any cultural diversity with 92% Caucasian ratio.
    4. You also don't have a dense population.
    5. You've never had enough mass shootings in your entire history to notice a drop
    6. Hows Europe's gun laws workin out?

Neither do we.....but Germany and France and Belgium with their anti gun laws......now that is a civil war zone. Thanks for making our point though.
