Trumpers are willing to accept absurd claims that fly in the face of logic and reason. They support unchecked and uncheckable power in their idol. They label anyone who opposes trump a socialist or a leftist or a liberal. They don't care how much he lies, cheats, or abuses power. They don't care that he has permanently damaged the office and destroyed the nation.

It IS a cult. It is based on irrational fear and appeals to the most base instincts.

They are dangerous and cheer for a tremendously evil man with the fervor of teenage girls at a boy band concert. They are the greatest threat to freedom the country has ever seen.

Balderdash, there job was to make a problem disappear from Obama's plate so he could say it's being dealt with whether it was or not.

I agree with most of what you say. The problem is that this tactic is not used only by one 'team' or the other.

Labels make it easy for us to toss anyone who disagrees with us into a big "label bin" of stereotypes. Once we start using those labels in negative ways, we seem to stop rational thinking.

Delegating authority is the sign of a good leader. In any context.

Depends on why and the competence of the chosen subordinate. In Obama's case in the over whelming majority of instances I don't think he ever cared if the problem was solved as long as he personally didn't have to be bothered with it.

Not if you're delegating authority to incompetent and/or unqualified people

Anyone who wants to hear what a cult sounds like need only listen to a montage aired by Rush. Almost daily, Rush plays a montage of the Fake news outlets 'reporting' the major news of the day. They all use the same terms to describe an event. The same terms to the letter.

I don't think they're cultists. If they're religious, then they're hypocrites for supporting such a moral degenerate. If they're worried about their pocketbooks, they're deluded if they think trump is helping the US economically. If they're just white supremacists, then he's the best thing since hitler for them, but I'd call them useful idiots, since trump doesn't care about them either.

Well if you cant see the left as just what you describe the Republican as. then what's the use in having someone bringing it to your attention?

What is a cultist? Someone who believes in the righteousness of a leader in spite of any of evidence that would normally dissuade them

What I you believe a leader is a repulsive and immoral person but you support him(or her) because ultimately they support most of the policies you support.?

“a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.“

    Seem pretty clear to me.

I have yet to hear one instance where our forum Trump cheerleaders utter one declaration of concern an any of Trumps actions.

    Soldiers just had headaches, right?

Over the past two years, Trump’s behavior has become both more disturbing and yet increasingly familiar. He relies on phrases like, “fake news,” “build the wall,” and continues to spread the divisive mentality of us-vs.-them. He lies constantly, has no conscience, never admits when he is wrong, and projects all of his shortcomings on to others. He has become more authoritarian, more outrageous, and yet many of his followers remain blindly devoted. Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert and a major Trump supporter, calls him one of the most persuasive people living. His need to squash alternate information and his insistence of constant ego stroking are all characteristics of other famous leaders—cult leaders.

I'm sure the Trump phenomenon will be studied by social scientists for years. Kind of like how they used to study Germans. However we have much better scientific tools nowadays. Unfortunately I think it is already well understood how and why Trump supporters act as they do. Seems to me the "movement" has been being cultivated at least since the rise of Reagan. It really doesn't matter what Trump does. Publicly he is more of a shiny object than a leader. He is supposed to obscure the public from the corruption, not put it on display as part of his shine.
