I find him ironic, wry, and amusing. He is, after all, a comedian.

yea, i think people need to be responsible though - the fact that people can always fall on human rights issues when it comes to health care is the reason that it will never be fixed - i mean, if you dont buy insurance, and then you can just call people bad until they pay for your expenses, then why would anyone buy insurance to begin with? this health care issue needs to get brought into control somehow - but its just so difficult and complicated

I doubt those creatures being executed were really "people" at all. At least not in the human sense, most were misguided liberals anyway. :fart:

People with values like yours truly ensure Obama's re-election.

    I thank you.

Bill Maher hates himself, just like Michael Moore hates himself. Both men are perfectly sane, but they suffer from severely damaged psyche, causing them to overcompensate for their feelings of inadequacy. Maher does it with snark, Moore does it with lies. Both men, mere hurt little boys deflecting the attention off their evident physical shortcomings.

Look at Maher, he is disgusting, a repulsive physical specimen; not just unattractive but actually gag worthy. You think he escaped childhood tauntings unscathed? Same with the behemoth Moore.

It's really that simple. Both men feel inadequate but use false bravado to cover it up, like grade school bullies.

I believe humor is rather subjective. As most of Maher's tends to favor the cerebral, I am guessing there are many out there that do not think he is funny.

Because few people went to see it would be my guess.

Maher takes things pretty far, but the general gist of what he pointed out still holds merit.

I think it was better illustrated by the Daily Show. Again, Ron Paul was asked if he thought uninsured people should be left to die. Paul was about to explain that he didn't believe that, but the audience behind him seemed to emphatically support the notion.

There are certain people within the GOP that really are deranged. They've been conditioned to believe that the majority of society's problems stem from welfare and medical costs incurred by poor, irresponsible people.

What these people don't seem to understand is that the people who cost us the most are the elite rich when they play with the money of the public in various investment schemes. All the recklessness in our financial sector hurts society far more than welfare or costs from the uninsured.

However, that doesn't fit in nicely with the ideological obsessions of the right. They'd rather demonize the poor, which is ironic, considering that many right wingers are only a few steps from being poor themselves.

It's this sort of conundrum that makes America a lot more conservative than most of its peers. There isn't much of a unified working class here, and in the few areas that it is unified, unions often have become so corrupt that it gives all of the labor movement a bad name.

In short, America has the worst of both worlds. There is a much healthier labor culture in Canada and much of Europe, and the world "liberal" is viewed in a generally positive way.

Bill Maher is the best example of everything wrong with the modern left wing. He promotes willful ignorance. He doesn't understand people who don't think like him. And he enjoys not understanding them. He takes great pleasure in intentionally misunderstanding and misrepresenting them so that he can trash them to his heart's content. Because he is fueled by cynicism.

Bitterness, resentment, judgment, and hatred fuel the modern left. It is an overwhelming feeling of not fitting in and needing to get even with people. It is a party made up of all the rejects who weren't popular in high school who have held that grudge their entire lives and have never grown up and put it behind them. And celebrity elitists like Bill Maher the purest examples of what they stand for. They provide a voice for the insecure, the self-loathing, and the inadequate - the people who are angry at life and just need to take it out on everything that makes them feel bad about themselves.

Would you trust your 18 year old daughter with Bill Maher or Henry Rollings or Ed Asner ?

LOL...Maher really bothers you T-Baggers eh?

Interestingly enough...he's not on any main-stream channel...like Beck was.
    No he's on HBO.
And he happens to be a left-wing political satirist.

But he really bothers you small people eh?

Good. Its about time you got a nice dose of your own medicine.

No go kick an unemployment recipient...you'll feel better...

You mean Rollins? The Black Flag singer?

Maher, no. Asner? Never seen evidence he's a sexual deviant, just a bleary eyed leftist nut.

Only the way people like you do, spouting off the most insipid, least informed bilge any puke could mutter. Maher has a platform on TV, and I assume if you did, you would be as angry as he is, all the while spouting inane dribblings like a bib wearing mental defective.

Heh, Maher got his ass handed to him by George Will, caught in his usual unsubstantiated suppositions that sound grand in the closed-circle jerks of d-bag parties in LA.

    Stop embarrassing yourself.

I don't understand Henry Rollins. His entire life has been lived by conservative principles, he is a firm believer in the pursuit of excellence, he doesn't drink, smoke, or do any drugs, and in his tour diaries from the first Lollapalooza in 1991, he routinely griped about the superficiality of celebrities and how weak and pathetic everyone else was. And yet somehow, he is anti-Republican.

You mean like this fine example of assumptions and literary trash?

LOL...Allow me to introduce you to a novel concept...its the "IMO" acronym. It means IN MY OPINION. That way...you don't come off a lying moron.

You should try it...and a little truth backed by facts once in a while...

I can read the psychology of Maher and his ilk. That's not suppositions, it's diagnosis.

Go away now little friend. You are using a wiffle ball bat to play major league.

Knock yourself out. Those little imaginary victories usually keep those like yourself going. Whatever stops the pain in your head and prevents slitting your own wrists, go for it.

I don't recall discussing those politicians here, but again you try too hard to be relevant. Enjoy the world inside your skull. I'd offer my thoughts there, but forum rules do not allow.
