What I want, @PARTIZAN1 is not much in consideration by any of the "powers-that-be" -- now, or back in Vietnam Era (which I was also a part of). What I WANT is for the United States to mind our own damned business... but we both know THAT ain't gonna happen....

I said as far back as 2004, right after the Beslan school massacre by Muslims, that we and the Russians could form a working alliance that would essentially exterminate violent Islam from the civilized world, but, obviously, that didn't happen, either.

Today, years later, I suggest that because Russia is THE power in that entire part of the world encompassing the Black Sea, all the way over to (and including) Iran, we could at least try to get Putin to get a choke-hold on Erdogan so that he doesn't wipe out the Kurds -- which is a thing that he and all the Muslim Turks would LOVE to do.

Or, put another way, if we didn't enlist Russia's help in one way or another, how could WE, in our miserable current state of political civil war, hope to control a despotic tyrant like Erdogan...?! Do you have any suggestions, or should we just say, "Aw, screw the Kurds. Let the Turks kill 'em all... it's no skin off our asses...."

Afterthought: Twenty-four years ago, the FSB replaced the old KGB. And the FSB today is THE premier intelligence agency in the world. It is headed by Alexander Bortnikov, an extremely intelligent and potentially dangerous man, who is at least as smart as Vladimir Putin. Don't understimate Bortnikov! Look at all the little Leftist Warmongers. We always knew who you were.

This forces Turkey to check Russia and Iran. It's brilliant and cuts the Iranians off. I do feel for the Kurds. No one ever sticks with them for long.

Not before Congress refused to give him a resolution authorizing air strikes. He then went to Putin, who put pressure on Assad to destroy the WMD on-hand, under U.S. supervision. They subsequently have built more.

If you think that "an endless military presence in Syria" is a "good idea," that is your opinion. I do not share it.

It is ironic that so many of the same dupes who eagerly supported Bush's fraudulently-pretexted, bloody fiasco in Iraq now kiss Trump's bum when he advocates cutting and running, abandoning an American ally who has served the nation's interests admirably in their heroic struggle against ISIS where far fewer US troops are at risk.

What have you done lately to end the futile slaughter of a far greater number of our forces in Afghanistan?

He didn't need it...he had the authority.

This is the gossipy crap that MSNBC/CNN would put out.

Withdrawing 25 military personnel AFTER wiping out ISIS is called mission complete.

There is no longer a defacto state known as ISIS.

We have less than 25 troops there.

    We are done.

    So true.

I think the American left is cranky because Trump is delivering on yet another promise, and that the Turks are going to light up a bunch of communist Kurds.

Nope , Kurds aren’t advocating a global moneyless ,stateless , classless , wageless society , going by what their leaders(no leaders in communism) are asking for , a nation state , then communism/socialism isn’t what they’re seeking ..

Make up your mind. Protecting the Kurds requires an endless military presence in Syria.

Where is the invaluable UN and international community when their butt-kissers on the Left need them?

The PKK certainly is...not sure if socialism would work or not if there was such a place as Kurdistian....very small, isolated rural community...maybe....regardless, they have been an friend against ISIS and the Kurds, across the region aren't all members.
