Mitch do what Mitch do. He’s a lifer, he’s no different than Piglousey, shiff for brains, Xiden, Bush all lifers. All they really know is feed their system. Maintain the status quo. They are elites, they decide our fate. They play this game and we are pawns.
    Mitch needs to go.

Or...... He didn't want to pull a "Democrat" and shut down the government for an extended period of time right before midterms.

Shutting down government is only righteous when done by Democrats. If Republicans even mention the thought, it's destroying the country...

That 2nd sentence is the most accurate thing you've ever said on here, and 100% true... and reason #6,863 we should never EVER elect Republicans to office...

It only reflects that Democrats are demonstrably partisan hack hypocrites and are the epitome of corruption in our government. Many people that carry a (D) behind their name are also starting to see this.... That 38% approval rating might bring down way more than just the POTUS, but an absolutely transition of power. I just hope it happens well before the Democrats absolutely destroy this nation and turn us into the Weimar Republic.....

It's interesting you said that. You think his handlers and the "squad" would ever forgive him if he did?

Republicans still have lock step swamp creatures but their numbers are dwindling. Democrats only have what......two, who attempt to emerge from the swamp?

Now, thanks to Mitch, Democrats won't HAVE to waste the 'nuclear option' on jacking up the debt ceiling. No... as other posters have accurately pointed out, both Democrats and Republicans will slink-and-slime their way together toward even greater depths of debt -- but -- going forward, Democrats will be free to use 'reconciliation' to muscle their way to get funding for their gigantic multi-trillion-dollar-plus "Socialism-lite" extravaganza.

Ever since Comrade Obama, Democrats have been shoving their 'camel's nose under the tent' schemes, but now, dear old Mitch has just opened the tent flaps and let the damned thing WALK IN....

But what do you think 'the people' want? Do you think 'they' want the government to be shut down over a rule from the early 1900s? And have a look at the polls to find out what people think of the new bill. Also the voting rights bill. I think you'll find that what Dems are proposing is very popular.

He actually gave them time to eat their own. Democrats could pass it alone.

McConnell caves to Democrats? That’s funny, where do think the pressure was coming from? Hint: it had nothing to do with Democrats.

Maybe only those people should have received money. We pretty much sent it to everyone. Those still working, those that are retired, those that had no interest in working.

I have no problem with negotiations to reduce government spending. Maybe that should have been done before we racked up the bills we are simply trying to pay for now. Is the stance let's not pay for the expenditures THEY all agreed on in the past unless someone now becomes fiscally responsible. That statement on its own is not fiscally responsible. You pay for the debt you incurred. Be smarter going forward. I cannot refuse to pay for my credit card bill just because I want to spend responsibly in the future.

The bottom line is everyone knows this is not about fiscal responsibility. It is about political theatrics.

What is the point of a debt ceiling if the congress can just raise it on a whim?

That's like giving a crack addict a credit card.

They shouldn't be able to authorize spending that exceeds their debit limit.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm, McConnell did NOT give them what they wanted. He is setting up the Democrats for a very hard reality in December if they do not increase the debt through reconciliation. McConnell is NOT bluffing. Right now he's just covering his ass so in December he can say that he gave Democrats more than enough time to fix the problem and if they fail to do so it's going to be on them when the crap hits the fan.

You obviously don't know how these things work with the debt ceiling and politics in general.

Did you join this forum just for kicks, or can good folks here teach you some things?

It just amazes me how many pushovers there are in the leadership of the Republican Party.

I mean I'm not against creative and pragmatic compromise, but these Republican leaders seem to go beyond that and totally buy into the talking points they hear in the media.
They really seem almost more like moderate Democrats who just don't want their taxes to go to high or too many new regulations to burden their businesses.

'Vote RP because the DP is even worse!' Yeah!!! ;-)

38% is only good until D's and I's have to consider the alternatives...
