Michelle's African vacation cost taxpayers over $424,000

You are the “first lady ” of a country that is really hurting right now because of the actions and policies of your husband.... many people have lost their homes and jobs and had bank accounts disappear. Do you really care , of course not. Would you try to save us any money , of course not. The only thing you see is a photo-op and a chance for free food and free vacations to take your relatives on.
What did you do for America on your trip??? Nothing…..nearly $700,000 dollars for you to spend a few days watching people dance and eating french fries. You are a disgrace.

 

I know exactly how I would feel if she was a Republican's wife. First Ladies are allowed to travel. Because they are First Ladies, they receive the full protection provided to the family of the US President.

This trip, added to the earlier trip to Spain puts her well over $1 mil in vacation expenses... WITHOUT her husband. WTF cares whether she's performing 'official duties' or not... nobody elected her ass to do anything! She's the queen of milking the system... and her old man is the king.

 

So because many people don't have jobs, Michelle Obama shouldn't do her job? It's her job to go on these humanitarian trips and make appearances. It's what First Ladies do. And if your argument is over the fiscal matter, than saying 'you're counting pennies' doesn't even put into perspective how petty your argument is. In the grand scheme of things, this is nothing on the expense chart. Nothing.

Others have traveled, and will travel in the future, but the point is, we are in dept, people can't put food on the table. A 1st Lady should keep that in mind when making decisions, R or D alike.
FLOTUS certainly has a budget to work with. But its up to her to make due, if necessary, to set an example. Its what I would do, wouldn't you? Shouldn't everyone?
It should not be an issue to this particular 1st Lady, nor a partisan issue, it should concern all of us..

and the Manhattan flyover for their friends, the broadway "date", the private concerts in the WH, the WH cocktail parties, flying in seperate planes to Marthas Vineyard, the diamonds (even if on loan - who do you know who can get thousands of dollars in loaned jewelry.)

Trying to revive Camelot in this economy is not working and not a smart choice.

 

You're complaining about the number of staff on her trip. Considering that staff includes several secret service officers, it makes people wonder why anybody would complain about the First Lady's security, unless of course....
