    You will NEVER get it....

how YOU feel is totally totally totally irrelevant to how anyone else should feel....

You can't even understand those simple words........I'm sure you will never understand another human being ....

And YES, people who sponsor a concert can do anything they want , cater to any group they want... it isn't YOUR concert.

I think you've made your point that YOU won't ban anything but why you think all other people should feel like you do is a mystery...

Large feather headdresses block other people's view of the performers so it's rude to wear them to concerts. Some are about four feet in diameter.

If you think it's ok for people to wear headdresses, then I guess you think it's ok for people to dress up like soldiers with full medals that weren't earned.....right?

Thats different. People wear headdresses because they look pretty. They arent pretending that they earned it. They only wear it for aesthetic reasons. Besides, since no native americans (or maybe a few) are attending that festival or are even in Europe, I dont see what the big deal is if people wear it at a concert.

What's wrong with wearing hats from other cultures? A lot of non mexicans wear sombreros, and I dont think that's offensive or demeaning to hispanic people. I dont believe people should say demeaning things or go out of their way to offend other ethnicites, but just because certain people may get offended by clothing others wear, that isnt a good reason for people not to wear it.

In the abortion subforum, you always say that just because I am offended by a behavior, doesnt mean it should be banned. Why dont you also apply that principle to this topic (concert clothing?)

I would guess that people like this never knew any indigenous people up close. I studied the Lakota language with Sioux that were trying to relearn their own heritage. I participated in sweat lodge ceremonies with them. They would have no more been angered by me wearing traditional wear than they would have themselves.

Why did they allow you on their reservation? I thought reservations only allow natives on them.

I know somebody who told me he was hiking in the woods one time and unknowingly and accidentally walked onto a reservation without permission (ie, trespassing) and got in trouble for it. One of my friends is part Native american, and he told me he has a card identifying as a member of tribe, so that he is allowed onto the reservation.

Reservations are a different thing. I was warned to only go on the res with someone from the res. The problem is that the indigenous are like anyone with bigots, racists, and especially drunks (native Americans have never had the tolerance for the fermented drink that European decedents have).

I have a good friend that is deep into the idealistic concept of the indigenous, posting the popular catch phrases. I haven't the heart to tell her that they are no different than anyone else though there are some differences, for instance, the concept of community and money.

Then maybe you should actually take the time to understand the significance of a headdress, rather then just assuming you know and being utterly and completely wrong.

In native culture, you have to earn the feathers of a headdress. It's the same in their culture as medals are in the military.

Like I said, it's only a big deal if you have the same respect for the Military, otherwise have at er.

Sounds like we better lock up every single death metal group ever for inappropriate cultural appropriation of the cross.

I am so sick of these freedom hating PC wannabes. People should wear whatever they want.

Only certain tribes of the Plain Indians had those big headdresses. They were regional artifacts.

I couldn't say. Maybe the headpeice means something important to the Native Americans the way a veil might mean something important to a Muslim. To wear it simply as an ornament, and your consideration of it as merely an ornament you'd just like to wear could be seen as offensive to them. Again, I don't know. Since I've been overseas before I know how easy it is to offend someone in casual ignorance because you are just not aware of how they interpret things.

Mexicans aren't offended so it's no big deal. However, if Native Americans are offended, I would say it is polite to refrain from doing such things. That said, I'm not sure if this is just some Native Americans or a large number. If I knew this view was not simply the personal reflections of a few people, but a communal outlook on a part of their culture, I wouldn't wear the headpiece again. I know you don't take parts of your own culture seriously, but other people do. It's a small price.

It's the fact that YOUR feelings mean nothing to others. How YOU feel about a subject has no bearing on what other people should do. Just because you're NOT offended does not take away the right for others to be offended.

And if you are offended you have the right to try to change other's behavior as you do very unsuccessfully in the abortion forum...and others have a right to try to change the behavior of concert goers.
The concert is a PRIVATE venue not a federal human rights issue.

You say: """ just because I am offended by a behavior, doesnt mean it should be banned. Why dont you also apply that principle to this topic (concert clothing?) ""

Why don't YOU apply that to abortion?

Everything is fine. We, along with current Canadians nearly exterminated the indigenous population. They are not needed. Now this is our territory. Spit on them and their history. Get rid of them completely.
PS: I hope you understand what I mean)

Here are a few reasons why I dont agree with you comparing the 2 things.

Military medals are often gained through the action of fighting in war, which is dangerous and life risking. Wearing a military medal (fake or not) would probably offend any military person because you are making light of the horrible things they went through in war. It's far more offensive than wearing feathers.

The feathers that natives get in their culture are eagle feathers, which is a federal crime for anybody but a native american to possess. Therefore, all of the headdresses that non natives wear are fake ones made of non eagle feathers. That's one big reason why wearing a feathered headdress at a concert is not the same thing as wearing a veterans medals. People wearing native headdrses are not trying to impersonate earning feathers in a culture. Also, most people dont have an idea what headdresses are for-so its not like they are even trying to pretend they earned feathers.

Why are the white people alive today somehow responsible for what their ancestors did? Youre saying that it's wrong for whites to wear Native clothing because of what they historically did, but what about people who are Latino or black or Asian? By your logic, it's okay for them to wear native clothing. And that isnt even the issue-because Native Americans are offended by any non native wearing a headdress for fashion (Pharrell Williams for example), not just whites.

That's the same logic affirmative action people use-give blacks special treatment to make up for what happened in the past. People shouldnt live in the past anymore (regarding racial and ethnic issues.) They should just move on.

That's just it, some people haven't "moved on" , they are still racists.
