NASA has been saying each month is the warmest on record so long that the average temp on planet earth should be 212 degrees.

I don't know about the trend, but it's been quite cool up my way. Has been all summer, in fact, following that lovely throwback to the last ice age we had last winter and spring..

Key lagging indicators of global temperatures are the polar ice caps. In other words, as global temperatures change the caps respond in kind. But this is how insane 'climate change' advocates have gotten.

When the caps are decreasing it's.............................. GLOBAL WARMING.
When the caps are increasing it's.............................. GLOBAL WARMING.
When it rains too much it's.............................. GLOBAL WARMING.
When it rains too little it's.............................. GLOBAL WARMING.
When there are too many hurricanes it's................................ GLOBAL WARMING.
When there are too few hurricanes it's................................GLOBAL WARMING.

Gov’t Scientists: Antarctic Sea Ice Is Growing — Because Of Global Warming

Couple this with the hypocrisy of Al Gore, the manipulation of the climate data by the Climate Research Unit because global temps didn't fit their agenda, and the fact that you people can't make up your mind what you want to call it.

Global Warming didn't work because the global isn't really warming.
Climate Change doesn't work because we know the climate changes.
So let's call it Global Disruption.

And now you extrapolate a single month out claiming this proves global warming, when you know damn well if detractors were to do the same you discount it because you can't use a single month.

You can't use a single year. You can't use decades. You can't even use hundreds of years. You need thousands of the years of data collection to show global temperature trends. We know the globe has warmed and cooled thousands of times over the life of this planet; ALL OF THEM WITHOUT THE INVOLVEMENT OF MAN!

I will say this again... This is nothing more than politics and economics. Some people aim to make a lot of money off of it, and some people aim to gain a whole lot of power by manipulating lives.

Let me see if I can impersonate the AGW sheep when someone says it's "the coldest ____ ever".

    Here goes...

"Learn the difference between weather and climate !"

(did I get the whininess down pat?)

I looked at the data and found that temperatures across the data set changed from sometime after June of this year. This change caused a significant upward adjustment in the trend.

What is the reason for the adjustment?

Is there some reason why NASA was not able to get accurate data as recently as 3 months ago?

NASA Chief: Next Frontier Better Relations With Muslim World

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his "foremost" mission as the head of America's space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world.

Though international diplomacy would seem well outside NASA's orbit, Bolden said in an interview with Al Jazeera that strengthening those ties was among the top tasks President Obama assigned him. He said better interaction with the Muslim world would ultimately advance space travel.

"When I became the NASA administrator -- or before I became the NASA administrator -- he charged me with three things. One was he wanted me to help re-inspire children to want to get into science and math, he wanted me to expand our international relationships, and third, and perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science ... and math and engineering," Bolden said in the interview.

How is it not global? Are you saying NASA left something out? The mental hoop jumping is getting tough to follow.

Pretty simple. In order to pull a trend out of raw climate data, temps from different measuring sites have to be taken into account. For example, a measuring site that sits on a hill will likely be cooler than one at sea level, and so on. Or, it's probably a giant conspiracy.

Global temperatures rely on other stations and this is something that has been happening quite a bit at the Australian BOM. Changing raw data to show more warming base on 'homoginizing' the temperatures with other stations. Same thing is happening with the GISS data.

To put things into perspective, this is what modern climate change is all about.

I find it hard to believe that someone actually typed that out. You actually think that warming and cooling trends are "rare naturally"?? The Earth's climate is not static, never has been. There are always trends. That you don't believe this to be the case disqualifies anything you have to say on the matter, IMO.

“I think this is a measure of how one shouldn't spend so much time trying to derive larger scale meaning from individual months,” said Gavin Schmidt, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, which puts out the temperature data. “There is quite a large amount of variability at the month-to-month scale, and small differences in data input, interpolation, (and) analysis can make a difference.”

NASA is corrupted by agenda at the hands of Uber-Scumbag Hansen. They have destroyed their position of authority.

This response does not answer my question.

NASA changed the historical record some time between June and August. This was an upward adjustment across the dataset. For example, in June of this year they issued a report showing the 2001 monthly index as follows:

    41 46 58 51 57 53 59 48 53 48 68 52,

But in August the dataset for 2001 was changed to:

    42 46 58 51 57 54 59 48 53 48 68 52

Obviously between the month of June 2014 and August 2014 something changed to make it hotter in the months of January 2001 and June 2001 What was it?

The same thing even happened in 1880.
    -33 -26 -22 -29 -16 -23 -18 -11 -20 -18 -16 -21
    vs
    -34 -28 -22 -30 -17 -24 -19 -11 -20 -19 -16 -21

It happened in most years across the data set.

How did it get hotter in January, February, April, May, June, July, and October of the year 1880 between the months of June and August of 2014? Did they suddenly realize their non existent 1880 temperature measurement sites were all sitting on hills rather than sea level?

Translation: "Is that super scientificky or just somewhat scientificky?"

I highly doubt that NASA would be irresponsible with their data collection or analysis. NASA is not a private institution so they have no agenda.

It's amazing their pushback with non scientific evidence, just cynicism. These deniers are so convoluted with their argument, they will cherry pick specific events for their argument on evidence that was gained from the scientists that subscribe to man made global warming.

Ironic, they want text books to show their side, and then complain about education. :)

You kill me. "Warmest August on record". OMG, do you have any idea how far back "on record" goes? You make it sound like "August was the warmest it's ever been since the dawn of time".

Seriously, records only date back to like 1890 something. A millionth of a second compared to the age of the earth.

And you are busting chops about last August. Got a job? Why don't you clean your room or something. Anything. Find something to do.

Same here in Louisiana. We only hit 95 I think one time, and it's been YEARS since that happened. For us, it was one of the coolest Augusts on record.

And that is a good point, "on record" is a minuscule amount of time compared to the age of the Earth.

    In a nutshell, number 1 I don't believe it and 2 it doesn't matter.

Their claims that NASA knows nothing about science, or has an agenda, isn't going to fly amongst thinking types. They will lose the climate change battle but, unfortunately, they'll leave a trail of destruction and misinformation.

What I don't get is that most of these people seem to be either poor or working class. I can understand an oil baron wanting to deny climate change, global warming or green energy, but why does a hick in a trailer care? It seems as if the reach of the rich extends very wide.

Indeed the trend doesn't lie. As the polar ice cap continues to grow back at an embarrassing rate for Al Gore.
