Feel free to have your own opinions however it is still amusing to me that anyone would consider the Russian naval anything but a risk to the live of their sailors.

Off hand I can not think of one fleet engagement in the last hundred plus years a period that cover two world wars and the cold war that the Russian/USSR naval won.

'or what... you going to call me a racist

for all your freedom of speech advertising you Americans (and Brits) sure do like to tell people what to say, how to say it and what to do.

I found this link SH posted a day or so ago very interesting, because it places a whole different spin on what is going on in Ukraine and Crimea.... Baker vowed "not one inch eastward" for NATO .... America was warned but America does what America wants and other countries like Ukraine has to pay the price.

Lady, I'm not sure people of Galicia would like to go back to Poland. Historically, they hate Poles. They prefer to work in Russia (usually in oil fields in Siberia). But they really differ from people of East-South Ukraine and we don't like them because of thier special mentality. For example, they arranged the Ukrainian coup, but now they don't fight at Donbass. It's an activity of people of East-South Ukraine. They go to Russia for a job :)

    That's an interesting question. :)
Do you know that there were 2 Russia? They existed in parallel at the same time. The first was called "Rus". The other one had the name of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. All of them used Russian language as a state language. But Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth was nationalistic state and Rus' was internationalist state. Some time Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth was stronger than Rus'. But you know the result. Russia is the largest state at the world and consists many peoples. Poland is a very modest state. But Poland consists 96% of Poles. What is better? :)

I usually visit Col Pat Laing's blog on a daily basis. He'a former US Green Beret and was later with the CIA. On a personal level I think he's a bit of an arrogant prick, but I usually find what he reports worth reading and often he has a very good interpretation on events gained from his years working for the USG.

Yesterday, following this event, he posted the below blog post which, if true, is startling.

But are these claims true or sensationalism?

I guess we'll find out later today when Russia make their presentation at the emergency UN Security Council meeting. I only note that TTG chose to post this claim and I know he's a proud former US Special Forces guy and not usually given to outrageous hyperbole.

O dear ... Jeannette ... do you now really putting Russia the halo of innocence on their head here? Really now?

The Navel Street fo Kertsch is an international naval street and every f***ing Ukrainian vessel is allowed to pass it - point!
Think about if Turks do the same with Russian vessels in Bosporus, eh?

And the capture of your Russian fishing boat is nothing more as a fake BS news from Russian Propaganda ministery ... in short: Never happened!
And the Azov Sea is international water and no Russian internal area and even if a f***ing US Navy vessel wants to drive into it, the Russians have to allow it too!

    Any questions?

It was probably a "battle" of warning shots and harsh words through a bull-horn.

Seems more like Chinese reaction on steroids against the challengin passer bys of its self proclaimed territorial waters in S. China sea. The use of overpower is for demonstrating full determination that the straight and the Azov under Russian control and there's just nothing that Ukraine -a country which has as almost equally long shores to the Azov- can do about it. So Russia basically tells Ukraine to forget about Azov sea unless giving anything in return at least as much valuable, which I doubt Ukraine ever does. Ukraine is no longer to be able to balance Russian existance in Ukrainian shores by having access to Azov.

UK, EU and Ukraine are not that stupid to send a tactical nuke to destroy a bridge and jeopardize the entire global stability which has already been under pressure. If the Southfront thing had put it differently, more like a planned attack on the Russian navy base, then I'd give 5% for a Russian Pearl Harbor but a bridge got no chance.

Shrug .... in cold war it was more "worse" at us in West Germany! At the so called "Fulda Gap" the US Army was ready to deploy Atomic land mines to destroy the way of Warsaw Pact untis to reach Frankfurt and the Rhine. ... Fulda Gap is in West Germany!

    Aren't they?

    Possibly. Maybe. Hopefully.

But who the fcuk actually knows for sure these days?

But remember the US has loosened their rules covering the use of low yield tactical nuclear weapons and now says it now "contemplates using them in response to non nuclear threats...." according to the report in the Financial Times HERE. This apparently includes a severe cyber attack. And if the US would retaliate with a LY tactical nuke for that, then surely almost anything else is possible too.

As the US gasses central American peasants at the border, Russia fires on hostile navy vessels for violating the rules of passage.
