There may not be a threat right now, but what about 2 years from now, or 5 years or even 10. That is something you have to think about.

Then they will blame Bush, because he got us into a recession, which made us have to spend more, which made us cut the military which caused us to be attacked and unable to defend ourselves.

You want to see not being able to protect itself, look at England. For all purposes, there is no more English military. They can’t afford it anymore. Case in point. The US just bought all 77 harrier jets from them. England just had a new sub commissioned and they may not be able to put it in to the fleet.

And this applies to Europe all over. Do you know what the European military is….. The United States. And it has been like that for over 60 years.

Since our military budget is TWICE that of the ENTIRE WORLD combined, even though most of the world is our ally, there is no scenario where we need to spend this kind of money on dead weight like tanks and missiles.

Doing so threatens our national security by dooming our economy. We need to invest in real infrastructure and productivity. Military spending is a threat to our future.

Large interventionist militaries (especially one with an entire unConstitutional branch) isn't in government's lane either but you seem to have no problem with it.

There is nothing now, what about 5 years from now? We've have done this type of thinking before. WW1, WW2, Vietnam. And then when something comes up a few years after, we don’t have the resources to be able to respond properly. 30 years ago, the 82nd 101st and two Ranger Bn. could be wheels up in 6-12hours after getting the orders. Today it is close 24-48 hours.

    No more UK military??!!!!!!!!!

In the first Gulf War, they flew the tougher ground missions, with their Tornados, and they held up the right flank in the 2nd Gulf War.

And if it becomes 72 hours, clearly someone would be able to conquer America before then, right.

There is sill an English military but not like what was 10 years or even 20. They are talking about selling off an aircraft carrier to India to pay off their debts. There is very little of the Royal Navy left, the RAF is down to form 3/4 of what they were 10 years ago. Like I said, there is still a English military but that is changing very quickly.

You said you were in the military. E5 or something like that Comms. You should remember this. When the 91 Gulf War broke out; who were the first ones on the line; the 82. Why was that? It was to stop that as best as they could from invading Saudi Arabia and making their way down to the oil fields.

The 82nd airborne can still be anywhere in the world in 24 hours (minus however many brigades they have in Afghanistan) even after these cuts. We'll still have C-17's and we'll still have KC-135's.

He's already sold Poland and Eastern Europe to Russia. Their demise is an American skeleton military away.

Yes. Obviously. Poland and Eastern Europe are so "sold" to Russia that they are part of NATO...

It's easy for them to do. We have a major presence in Europe and subsidize their protection.

They spend their largesse on hopey-feely-changey bull(*)(*)(*)(*).

I say we pull our troops and watch Europe descend into oblivion. How long before they have their mouths on our asses asking for help?

How much did we get for them?

Can we sell off more Nato members to Russia?

How much will Russia pay for Greece? or maybe Turkey- after all Turkey is a Mooslim sleeper country anyway....

Let's cash out Nato while there is a willing buyer.

Correct. If you can't find a job in your ******* utopian cities like NYC or SF, move to Texas. It isn't the responsibility of the rest of us to subsidize your stupidity.

I was countering his bull(*)(*)(*)(*) point. We hardly "sold" Eastern Europe to Russia. They are NATO members and we are helping them modernize their militaries.

Don't kid yourself. You'll never use your arsenal. You're doomed to slide under the dominion of the black flag of Islam. Without firing a shot.

Big talk from the country of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)baggery that couldn't protect itself if their southern neighbor was less friendly and more imperialistic.

The only time reducing the size of government is a good thing in the ******* universe is when it is the military. I say for every cut in the military we have an equal cut in every other area of government that receives taxpayer money.

    You on board with that?

    Didn't think so.

NATO is America. With a emaciated American military it becomes defunct.

By succumbing to the demands of Putin to drop the missile shield? Bought and Sold.

    Thanks Obama.
