MLK brought people together while Obama drives people apart. Of course, Obama is a Democrat so that's to be expected. Why Martin Luther King Was Republican
What I find funny is the same people who are attacking President Obama today are the same ones who were and would have been attacking Dr. King in his day. Republicans try to come across as if they loved Dr. King, give me a freakin break.
Ah yes, the "I know you are but what am I" classic. It has worked for those with childlike mindsets and elementary debate skills for so long now, why change anything?
Just a few of many references. Please don't insult our intelligence by trying to tell us Barack Obama wasn't marketed as a black man. That's simply not true... we've been reminded of his skin color since the day he came on the scene. By him and those who support him. But we're the ones who are racists? Yeah, right.
I'm not aware that anyone said Barack Obama had anything in common with Dr. King. You are lying. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School. That distinction is based on GPA and GPA alone. Your racism is pathetic and less subtle than you think. I would work on it.
It's even more amusing to witness how many blacks today have no respect for Dr. King. They've hitched their wagon to a star who's given them 18% unemp where MLK tried to teach them self-respect. Not much of a trade-up if you ask me.
So you think Dr. King would've approved of Obama marketing himself as black? Or more importantly, allowing others to market him by skin color? If he was a REAL man, he would've insisted on being touted as an AMERICAN MAN and not allowed himself to be sold as black. But then, he might not have won since he'd have to run on qualifications... of which he had none.
King was a womanizing socialist. What's not to like? His legacy is a hoard of money grubbing POS rats posing as children sucking the marrow out of his bones. Again, what's not to like?
If you can provide evidence that Barack Obama marketed himself based on skin color then we'll discuss that. The one speech I recall him giving on it was applauded by conservatives and liberals alike for being fair and open minded to both sides. It was considered a great speech for race relations. Other than that, I've heard nothing. It is very historic that he is the first African-American president. But that's a testament to the greatness of our country and how far we've come, not to him. The only qualification for president is to be president. No one is ever ready for the job. Since qualifications are so important to you, I'm sure you will vote for President Obama in 2012. Four years of being President beats the hell out of anything the others have done.
I don't think he would have given his approval to such an overbearing symbol, it's not like the man at all.
He then pissed it all away standing up for Cornell West WITHOUT ANY FACTS and AGAINST THE MAN. Obama's a racist.
Evidence of that would be great. Calling someone a racist without any evidence other than "He's black, it must be true" is a little, well, racist. Thanks for posting something, I appreciate it. Saying that someone of his opponents won't like him because he's black and marketing himself as a black man are not the same thing. You're basically saying that if he even mentions his race he's automatically using it to his advantage.
In this context in his usage it was exactly that, a planned statement in his speech to highlight his race and insinuate that his opponents had a problem with it. I've basically said nothing of the sort but your statement that he never used his race has been shown to be fallacious.
It's ironic that you point out that you never said anything like that, and then immediately turn around and claim something I never said. I said he's never marketed himself as a black man to win votes. Has he mentioned his race? Sure, first black president. That deserves mentioning. I'm sure there was political gain to be had, too. That isn't marketing though. He marketed himself as someone who would break away from Bush policies and get American back on track. Whether he's done that or not is up for debate, but talking about his race is a distraction from the real issues. That goes for libs, cons, Repubs, and Dems alike.
