I don't think Obama's legacy will be as good as King's. And that's an understatement - not because I deify Dr. King, but because I have no respect for Obama. He's been a disaster for this country.
I've heard enough crap about skin color over the last three years to pretty much last a lifetime. ENOUGH ABOUT RACE, ALREADY! There must be more to Blacks than the fact they are Black and everyone else isn't - right??? I mean, life goes on past kindergarten.
That picture is hilarious! Did Obama intentionally speak with his back to the sun in order to appear more black?
I agree, the memorial is a travesty that takes a giant dump all over what MLK Jr. truly stood for. Imagine if the Statue of Liberty stood like that!
Obama would have more of my respect if he had squashed the constant inappropriate use of the Race Card by many. He begrudgingly told the truth one time through his spokes person that he KNEW opposition to his policy was not race related. (After Carter's comments.) He knew it. If he had come out stronger against that, he would have been demonstrated leadership. He had an opportunity to bring people together, and he refused to do so. I knew then, that he too (like other black leaders) has a use for racism and must keep it alive. MLK did great things for black people and the country. Too bad Obama did not follow his leadership.
No I'm not. What the hell does my skin colour have to do with this? Man...I guess some people just like rolling in the muck...Sarah would be SO proud...
Oh whah.... So Obama didn't down-play the racial over-tones of the T-Baggers enough to make you people feel absolved of your racial over-tones? Cry Me A River! Republicans...
sounds like it's a requirement deify MLK and to worship Obama b/c of the color of his skin and kiss all black people's asses for the same reason. Blacks have the same chances in life. Get over it.
I saw something interesting on a newsclip, but only caught a brief glimpse of the memorial that looked very familiar. Let's see if I can make the connection. This is a scuplture in downtown Dallas called Journey to Sirius and depicts two mountain ranges in Africa. Created by George Smith... "He is a professor of art at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Among his accomplishments is the impressive steel sculpture, Journey to Sirius (1992) on public view in Dallas. Smith's work references the Dogon aesthetic and, to use his words, "the expressive power of African geometry." Looks alot like the 'cliffs' surrounding the MLK memorial. Interesting, eh? Reminds me of Close Encounters except instead of building mounds, they're obsessed with building granite mountains! What's up with that?
Yes, Obama loves to equate himself with MLK, Lincoln, even Reagan when it fits his agenda. He's a pathetic man and terrible president. He's done nothing but burden our nation with more debt, destroy morale and divide our nation.
He let the lie grow that we are racially motivated by our opposition to Obama's policy. He let black people filled with pain and anger, think that we don't like him because he's black. It's crap and Obama's spokesperson said it was. Once. When asked directly to respond to Carter's comments. He doesn't care about black people...he wants them to be in pain and anger, holding them down to a level they can best serve him. Does that sound like MLK to you?
I, too, am noticing similarities to another monolithic structure and those that worship it. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ML1OZCHixR0"]2001 a space odyssey - YouTube[/ame]
That why you people fail so miserably. Its also why you continue to be accused of racism. None of you seem to be able to see anything but. And nobody suggested anyone "deify" anyone. That's just your own "coloured" imagination speaking to you again... MLK worked to help the cause of a race of people, who were in the USA in significant numbers, by no fault of their own historically speaking, and who were not being given a "fair shake" in life by the country that "adopted" them. Obama...regardless of skin colour...did what any president would have done...and gave a speech at the new monument. And then T-Baggers...in their ever-so-innocent way...tried to reduce the ceremony to political hackery. But realistically...I'd have to bet that many T-Baggers would simply LOVE to have their asses kissed with the same love and adoration with which they daily kiss the lily-white hind-sides of wealthy people and CEOs. And Dear...I bet I could find several BLACK MEN who would like to oblige this desire of yours...
Amazing how you misrepresent people criticizing, and rightfully so this awful display which is suppose to be a memorial, as racist. Is it beyond you to comprehend that the criticism is not about MLK the man but this display about him?
You didn't read the entire thread before shooting your whiny mouth off, apparently. Someone else mentioned, correctly, that by running his campaign based on his skin color, Obama has effectively set this country back 30 years; so that all that these black people see are things in black & white anymore. Thankfully, we have fine and prominent men like Herman Cain that can potentially lift our country out of this racist quagmire that Obama has forced upon us. I don't see Herman Cain as a black man, and thankfully, he doesn't appear to see himself as one either. At least it is not his main concern like it was with Obama.
Listen to the president use the occasion to further his own agenda. It's amazing how he switches from his black voice to his white voice... depending on the audience. Notice he didn't tell this crowd to 'quit whining'. Whah Whah Whah...We've picked on his mother...his kids...his wife and on Obama himself. We've tried to assassinate his character and destroy his presidency with lies and deciept. Yet he refuses to acknowledge that we SAY we are not simple-minded racists. LOL...what a tragedy...
I didn't catch the whole speech that morning. Was the National Association of Always Complaining People in attendance? I'm sure that they were!
Oh, I don't know. The two things look nothing alike to me. One is fairly abstract and the other is not. They are shaped completely different. Yeah, they really look nothing alike.
Rather clever of you to put "assassinate" and "his presidency" in the same sentence in order to invoke some kind of vain attempt at sympathy for the sniveling, cowardly white man.
