President Barack Obama would veto a GOP-drafted bill that would allow legislators to take agency officials to court if they don’t enforce laws, according to a White House statement.

The GOP is pushing the bill through the House because Obama has repeatedly declined to enforce laws he doesn’t like, say GOP legislators.

“President Obama has refused to enforce those parts of our nation’s immigration laws that are not to his political liking, has waived portions of our welfare laws, has stretched our environmental laws to accommodate his policy objectives, and has waived testing accountability provisions required under the ‘No Child Left Behind’ education law,” according to Rep. Bob Goodlatte, the chairman of the House judiciary committee.

would we expect anything less from a lawless thug

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C gave a speech that shamed this outlaw president and took him behind the wood shed

Isnt it the primary duty of the President of the United States to enforce the laws enacted by congress?

It is supposed to be, being part of the oath of office, and all. If you can't deal with the job description, don't take the job..........twice.

Just imagine if the next Republican President decided NOT to enforce the voting rights act or chose to ignore states that have legalized pot and send the DEA in and arrest pot shop owners. They are blazing new trails and setting new precedent.

Except the Constitution doesn't say that he has to. If you have a problem with this, take it up with the Constitution and push for an ammendment.

No surprise he'd veto this one, he's one of the biggest offenders.

Love Trey Gowdy, wish he'd run. He has a quality that is hard to come by....he comes off as honest, and as someone actually fighting for the people. They all say it, but he sems to live up to it IMO.

Id vote for him in a second.

Yeah, It does. Its part of the oath of office.

    Seriously, wtf?

Who runs for office to not do the job they would be elected to do?

This is probably the worst overt denial of responsibility Ive ever seen.

Youre even making excuses for the clown...wtf?

They are still trying to make him a one term president
I hope he will veto the bill
the bill would have the government tied up in legal battles
If he is doing something unconstitutional there is already procedures in place that they can use
If it's not unconstitutional then he has a right to do it

The bill is just a get obama play
And will cause a waste of hundreds of millions of dollars

Where in the Oath of Office does the President state that he will enforce every law?

If you have a problem with the way the Constitution is written just admit it. Then we can move forward with a real solution instead of (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing.

    Execute does not equal "enforce".

What if a law is unjust or unconstitutional? Then the correct and most faithful way to execute it would be to not enforce it.

The problem is with the Constitution. If you don't like it, then perhaps you should support a Constitutional Convention like I do.

Is that's why Obama does not enforce Obamacare, because it's unjust and unconstitutional?

There is no practical difference between the two. Execute refers to the person, enforce refers to the object.

No go back to my previous post.

If the President feels a law is unjust or unconstitutional he must go to congress to change it. Using your logic if another President feels the voting rights or civil rights act is unjust or unconstitutional then he has the right to just not enforce them?

Please tell us all what "execute" means in reference to:

Article Two of the United States Constitution

    Section 3: Presidential responsibilities

Clause 5: Caring for the faithful execution of the law

The President must "take care that the laws be faithfully executed."[19] This clause in the Constitution imposes a duty on the President to take due care while executing laws and is called the Take Care Clause,[20] also known as the Faithful Execution Clause[21] or Faithfully Executed Clause.[22] This clause is meant to ensure that a law is faithfully executed by the President,[20] even if he disagrees with the purpose of that law.

Irrelevant. If it's on the books, it must be enforced faithfully. If not they need to take your prior advice and look to change or amend the things they dont like.

You dont get to just ignore the ones you dont like.

Where do either of those definitions appear in the Constitution?

    - - - Updated - - -

What does the Constitution say it refers to? How does the Constitution define "execute"?

So if Congress passed a law tomorrow outlawing the Tea Party, you would want the President arresting Tea Partiers until the Supreme Court intervenes? Or would you want him to not enforce that law?
