Germans did play a role in Russian affairs, but it was not as large as some americans might want to beleive. Many were just farmers. Now, Russia is a european country that now stradels two continents. Nevertheless, it is still euopean. They lived for more than a century under the yellow yoke (mongolia) and their is no evidence to suggest that Russians tend to look eastward, unless were talking about business.
