Not in this case, there is no motivation to lie. No benefit whatsoever.
Your defense is always to attack the studies.

There is no benefit to say you bought it from friends.....your friends become suspects

And those laws don’t stop two acquaintances from transferring heroin in private.

Yes but it reduces it. Imagine if the private sale of heroin was legal.....it would be chaos

You’re really reaching. The studies aren’t conducted by law enforcement.

Closing the private sale loophole could prevent the criminal who sold the gun from obtaining a gun in the first place.

No, the law punishes those that get caught selling and possessing.
It doesn’t PREVENT sales in private between people that know each other.
There is no way for LE to know of transfers in private between friends.
Be stupid and do it on the street is another story.
    We know this.

Sure it does. It can be used as evidence against the seller. It can serve as grounds for a search warrant that can reveal that seller has other bags of heroin individually packed for sale. Boom....prison

Easy to get around and happens all the time now, and with UBCs, will be standard procedure......
Straw purchase and then deface the serial number. Extremely easy.

"A 1995 Connecticut law requiring a permit or license – contingent on passing a background check – in order to purchase a handgun was associated with a 40 percent reduction in the state’s firearm-related homicide rate....

"The Connecticut law requires all prospective handgun purchasers to apply for a permit in person with the local police regardless of whether the seller of the handgun is a licensed dealer or private seller."
    https://www.jhsph.edu/news/news-rel...ed-with-40-percent-drop-in-gun-homicides.html

Wow, a 40% reduction in gun murders. Closing the private sale loophole saves lives.

what makes them experts? I was a federal prosecutor for 24 years. those same experts claimed the brady bill would do that as well . 24 years later, we realize the Brady bill hasn't done a damn thing to decrease violent crime.

80% of the public? low wattage sheeple who are ignorant of the facts

NYT-one of the most anti gun publications in the USA

the vast majority of street cops reject this nonsense

Unless I get caught with it and tell the police you sold it to me. Time for a search warrant

what's a search warrant going to turn up? He no longer has the gun and there is no record he had it the day of the sale other than the word of a mope?

Not a lot of Baltimores and Chicago’s in Connecticut.
These impoverished areas are responsible for most gun crime.
The felons in these areas won’t be denied getting guns to conduct their business.
Straw purchase, then deface the serial number..... it’s too easy.

This type of law only impacts the lawful that will comply.

well we know that Hawaii's registration scheme cannot be credited with solving a single crime nor can you establish any crimes that were prevented by it. the canadian scheme only applied to handguns bought after a certain date but handguns are the weapon of choice for crime while UNREGISTERED long guns are not. sounds like your paens of those laws are misplaced.
