Did it fall 14 votes short or not? If so, 4 votes of the D candidates pandering for votes didn't make a difference.

Nice play on words. The gentleman wasn't saying it was killed by Obama. He was saying Obama voted against the bill when put forth by the Bush administration, to keep the Republicans from taking credit for it and to placate the unions. But now he wants to win over the Hispanic vote for the Democratic Party, so he's all for it.

I'm not concerned with any immigration plan, I'm concerned with how illegal aliens get into this country, oh, wait, we know, by coyotes... Wouldn't a better immigration plan involve turning in or at least giving the names of those coyotes be better??? Until we get to the roots of the problem we can't possibly end the problem...

Is this any different than what he said before about gay marriage, when he said he was against it and believed marriage was between and man and woman, then later to get the gay vote, he was all for it. The man will say anything to get votes or what he wants.

Remember when he asked for billions for his shovel ready jobs and after he got it had to admit there was none?

You want to know how they get into this country? I'll show you and this video was taken two years ago about the time Obama said our borders were as secure than they have ever been. Also take note all the days these shots were taken, there is never any shots of the border patrol ever being around. I am sure they had to know these cameras were in use. If you think it will be any different after they give them citizenship your nuts. They will be millions more coming across.

:omg:And the illegals keep using the excuse that they just want to better themselves. And they have the Libs believing it. Thats why they have such open hearts for the illegals coming in...careing more for them than they do for their own country. Their BRAINWASHED. What a shame.

How you spin support for Bush legislation into an antipathy toward Republicans is truly bizarre.

Paranoia over the main stream free press notwithstanding, Bush's immigration reform legislation would have become law had not radical, rightist Republicans in Congress killed it.

Bush's failure did not hinge upon Senator Obama's support of a Dorgan amendment (Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., offered an amendment to end a different program, one that allowed more temporary workers, pointing out that it would bring in cheap labor through the back door and squeeze out American workers.)

Ideological bias cannot alter the reality: Only 12 of the 49 Senate Republicans supported Bush on the key procedural vote that determined the bill’s fate.

Bush was right on this one, and Republicans have suffered the consequences of defying their President as they now scramble to reverse their folly.

:omg:Well dude...you know we still have military here in the U.S. Thats one thing the nitwit in the WH hasn't eliminated yet.

As far as transportation...if we can afford flying that nitwit leader around all the time we for sure can afford shipping 12 million illegals to the boarder. Don't get a headache thinking about it.

:yawn:Well the administration know its walking too close to the line on grabbing for too much power takeover. They know they need to back off or else. They know the smart people in this country is not going to go for a dictatorship that Ubama wants. So he knows he better be careful.

:omg:Well thats part of the reform thats being put into play right now. And that is before anything else goes into play the first thing we do is strenthen the Border Security. Until that is done nothing goes forward.

:wink:Well until the dumb gov't opens its eyes and realizes instead of sending F-16s and Tanks over to Egypt...It would be a better idea to send them to our own boarders.

Both Democrats and Republicans are wrong in allowing them to become citizens. We will have millions more piling into this country trying to get on the next bandwagon. That border will never be secure. Over two years ago, Obama said it was as secure as it's ever been and lets get on with immigration reform. Well I showed you a video of hidden cameras, it's not anywhere near secure and it never will be. Make them citizens and you might just as well rename America the United Hispanic States of America. They will be millions more coming.

Both sides can get their support without making them citizens. I said this before

It is not the job of the military to enforce our laws. It is about risk vs reward, reduce the reward it would not be worth the risk. Both parties share the blame democrats want votes, republicans wanted cheap labor.

Tell me what's wrong with my idea? These people can come out in the open and work legally. They couldn't be paid less than min. wage so they can't under cut American workers. We would know just who and how many are in this country because we would now know their names and we have their finger prints. If any are caught later and not on the list, we deport them. No more illegals with forged papers. Now they are happy they are out in the open. Their American friends and relatives are happy they don't have to worry about them being deported and both sides can take credit for it.

Then redo the work program so farmers and others can bring in people to work jobs that Americans don't want to do. But none of them would become citizens.

I'd say....65-70% chance....Marco Rubio is chosen by the RNC to be the 2016 Nominee.

And like Mitt easily dismissed "Romneycare" and easily dismissed the "Anybody But Mitt" Republican primary voters (splitting them between Newt, Santorum, etc.).....that if the RNC picks Rubio? He WILL be the Nominee no matter what the Nativist Right want or don't like about immigration reform.

And if so...in November 2016....they'll all STILL turn out to vote for him, just like those on the Right who opposed "socialized medicine", turned out to vote for Romney.

:frown:When a problem gets to a point of out of control as much as illegals have done then it is the job of our military. They are there to protect our boarders until the problem is under control. If that is what it takes then we should use our military.

From what I read of the plan proposed it basically does what you suggest. It makes any path dependent on preconditions that are not easy to say the least. It gives them a chance at citizenship but no more than any immigrants and it places them behind those waiting to come here legally. It is far better than just allowing things to remain the same. Nothing Washington ever does is perfect they could have prevented this from becoming nessary. They did not not so now we must mitigate the damage. While hopefully stopping it from happening again.

The laws of the union are the jobs of law enforcement and the militia. We do not need martial law on our soil. If the government wanted the problem to be solved they could have stopped it. They allowed it to happen, while I can see why many are opposed, this plan is better than leaving things the same.
