The late great Jean-François Revel spent a good part of his last book Last Exit to Utopia: The Survival of Socialism in a Post-Soviet Era exploring the disinformation campaign on the part of "progressives" to disassociate the Left and socialism with fascism. Just reading about his own experiences teaches one a lot about how to deal with the disinformation campaign you speak of and the Leftists pushing it. New York, which I'm quite sure you consider a higher rate of education, had to remove the Reading portion from the school board's teacher exam because most of their applicants were incapable of passing it. Definitely nothing wrong with going back to the 80's... Products were made with better quality, money was abundant, fuel was cheap, etc etc etc... You can find a $10 plastic toy from the 80's on Amazon and outside of a little discoloration from age, it'll still be just as durable and in tact as it was when it was made, whereas you can buy your kid the same toy, only updated and it'll break as soon as you drop it or accidentally step on it.

For example, here's a transformer jet from the 80's. I had one just like it.

Rural people as a whole are not as "dumb" as you think. The problem we have with rural america is their disproportionate affect on our democracy, not their intelligence level
