That's lame deflection. This thread isn't about what used to happen decades ago during the Cold War, and Putin was still a low-level KGB operative in East Germany.

I stand by my assessment. Vladimir Putin is not a fool. Don't underestimate him.

    Are you effing kidding me?

Remember that old saying: forewarned is forearmed. Our troops will know what extra precautions to take.

So you think the Taliban were not trying to kill them prior to the Russians getting involved?

Putin is not a fool, but Trump is. Just when you begin to think he can't get any worse he manages to tap into a new rich vein of stupidity.

Lil putie is no strategist or some genius like some claim. He's a gambler....he gambled and got lucky in Crimea.....Ukraine was on it heels after getting rid of a ******bag of a president and there were enough traitors in Crimea to be bought and paid for.

Putinka is aware that the rest of the world doesn't support Assad and taking this as far as he can.....since he really doesn't wanna see an alternative gaspipe to Europe that he can't control.

You're talking about Putin's short game. He's smart in the long game and "lucky" in the short game. Seems he's quite smart at both. Sure, he is gambling, but he is gambling wisely to achieve his ends (so far).

Yeah...."so far".....I think he's smart enough to know....in the long game....that his luck can run out....fast.

And the Russkis are known for some dipshit moves that can/did cost them big time.

Oops, the lies again huh Zoomie! Well, when reasoning eludes one that's all they have. It's known as ad hominem attacks. (A bit of education here).

I'm the father of lies that's what I be,
    who laughs at people's misery.
To watch them as they lie and steal.
The fools, they think they're being real..

But fools they were and fools they'll be
for they have eyes but cannot see,
and think that playing wicked games
will bring them power, wealth and fame.

But what they want will not be so.
Instead of heights they've fallen low.
And covered up with filth and muck.
Tough luck I know, but they deserve it - Jeannette

The hoax is the article and following stories and slanderous partisan accusations stating that he was briefed and didn't care. Surely you know this. The revelation is partisan mole work. And now any trail will be brushed out and cleaned up by Russia. A very stupid thing to do by whoever leaked it.

No one accused you of liking Obama . You are trying to distract from the fact that you had no idea what was going on in Syria - a conflict we were supported a Islamist Jihadist Proxy army - support which led to the worst war crimes and crimes against humanity in the last decade.

This is what you are trying to avoid.

Bin Laden ? The only interesting thing about killing Bin Laden is that after killing him we then became allied with Al Qaeda.

    How Ironic don't you think.

A a bounty would make them try harder, so the greater risk to out troops is very real.

I don't know about genius, but he does seem capable of strategy, especially long term.

His success in Ukraine and Crimea was not luck. Russia worked with the ethnic Russians there to create as much division as possible, then moved in force with the bogus claim that the Russians living there were the ones under ideological amd ohysical attack.

He is currently working similar angles against Estonia, but that's much trickier because Estonia is a member of NATO and their dues are paid up. They could invoke Article V and the rest of NATO, including us, would consider it an attack on all and respond with force.

This is why Putin would love to see four more years of Trump, since our NATO membership is slowly coming under criticism from Trump and his supporters. If we were to pull out of NATO, I would bet money that Putin would charge right into Estonia, guns blazing. There are plenty of his "little green men" near that border, playing at war exercizes and waiting for the "Go!" The other two Baltic NATO members, Latvia and Lithuania, would fall like dominoes.

That assessment fine with me. But .......

.... this is bull crappy and a lame side-step if I've ever seen one. Typical, really typical. It doesn't matter how much treachery the U.S. commits upon the world and upon its's own population - Americans will still believe, "Oh! that was some other presidency and has nothing to do with what is happening today!" Yeah, sure. President after president has had his slippers under the bed at the White House while corruption has reigned year after year, decade after decade.

A quick example? Vietnam, that was a long long time ago. But the U.S. has its dirty nose in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Cuba (still!), Cambodia Laos, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Chile, Veneaueala, Grenada, etc. So forgive me if your "That was decades ago" argument gets my full hand palm. Your produce is rotten.

You seem to have a comprehension problem. I never mentioned Trump, I mentioned our governments actions - which when taking into account the amount of death and destruction, tops the Nazis in brutality and aggression.

Trump was not the one who formed our foreign policies. They were formed by such as Kissinger, Wolfowitz, Zbigneau, etc. Bill Clinton was the first to break international law outright by invading Serbia on false premises, and thereby killing thousands in support of the KLA terrorists.

I guess you never read the report by Princeton, showing that only a little over 30 thousand people have an actual say in our government. So much for a democracy.

And wouldn't you be happier in a nation more aligned with your own values, or rather lack of them, then trying to form our country into your image and impose it on the American people?

Like I said....yeah it was luck on his part, Ukraine was on its heels and a mess ...there was enough traitors in Crimea and elsewhere to facilitate that gamble.

Well see in the long run if it pays off.

There's enough NATO firepower in the Baltics to crush Konigsberg and maybe even reach Petersburg or Moscow even. Russia's claim to fame is it's nukes.....everything else is debatable. Half their military is decrepit and it's servicemen Krokodil drug addicts.

So then a so called scholarly assessment on Wikipedia by those who never stepped in Syria, and who have an agenda to overthrow Assad, is more trustworthy than a video of the American observers at the UN. Interesting!

Do you know why the Syrian people were having these massive demonstrations? It was to show the world not to believe anything coming out of the MSM. Watch the whole video, so you get a dose of the reality that you and others are trying to hide from the American people.

The two don't even disagree with each other, actually. Whatever the observers saw, the fact remains that large areas of Syria didn't vote. It was even more phony as a Russian presidential election.

So you're saying that the Russians of the former Russian Empire in Eastern and Southern Ukraine, have no affinity towards Russia even though it was part of Russia, and they speak Russian, trade with Russia, and go to school in Russia? Would you say the same thing about all English speaking people, and that they have no cultural affinity to one another even though they speak the same language?

What I know is that the part of Ukraine that was once under the Poles and Austrians are a different culture from the Eastern part which had always been a part of Russia.

You're funny! I guess then the junta in Kiev didn't pass a language law to eliminate the different languages and heritage of the people in Ukraine.

Just to let you know, the Soviet Union was an international system and didn't believe in nations, and so Stalin and Lenin gave parts of other countries to the Ukrainian administration. When Ukraine asked for independence from Russia, Russia complied, but Ukraine didn't give the same courtesy to the Russians, Hungarians, Romanians, and Poles that had become part of the Ukrainian administration. So they were forced to remain in a country that was not their own.

Did you ask the Russians in Estonia if they want to be a part of Estonia or Russia? Don't they have rights?

Russia is not the US, that goes into countries uninvited and under false premises. So stop projecting and assuming things. According to the German Spiegel, General Breedlove's sanity was questioned when he said that Russian troops and tanks were entering Ukraine - because none of the German or American Intelligence agents could see them.

The Ukrainian army was defeated 3 times by a rag tag militia from the Donbas, since the militia were fighting for their homes and heritage, while the Ukrainian conscripts were being sent into the field as cannon fodder. This is why they were given only 2 weeks training. Poroshenko's intent was to kill off as many young men as possible, that way the oligarchs could buy up the land and sell them at a high price to the agri companies like Monsanto.

I see a lot of democrat talking heads on MSM shouting "what's he gunna do about it" and of course none will say what they would do. Perhaps Trump should let loose about a thousand nuclear warheads, will that satisfy the lefts lust for blood?

Oh course no one is perfect, nor are they expected to be perfect. But come on, people have to have some integrity or the whole fabric of our society will fall down - which it has.:roflol:
