Unlike you, I volunteered to lay my own life on the line for my country. And I was lucky to have come back to the World after my tour of duty. I had friends who did not, and their lives ended at the age of 18 or 19. And so, I will continue to critique and disagree with a gov't that is proven to be not of and by the people. An american, a patriot, would never take the attitude of , "my country, right or wrong", unless in a war for our very survival. And the last time we had that was ww2.

The people like you, who would take such a position, reminds me of the good germans during ww2. These people, many of them knew that what hitler was doing to the jews was wrong, unacceptable and yet their silence was deafening. I refuse to be in a group like this, because I am a patriotic american and believe in the principles this nation was founded on. And our founders, many of them saw the dangers of foreign entanglements, that were only serving a few at the top.

I think you are in dire need of help. And I think if you had actually laid your own arse on the line, in combat, where you saw your friends killed, and which turned out to be a war that was unnecessary, as so many of our perpetual war for perpetual profits have turned out to be, you would be in my group instead of the group you choose to be in. I figure your group exists due to simple ignorance of reality, and there isn't a pill that will fix that, except perhaps being in combat in another useless war. It is not a coincidence that the Nam era vets that I play cards with, and drink coffee with, 90 percent of them agree with me and not you. And I also believe they have much more credibility than you. And I think our beliefs and attitudes come from actually having experience given by a useless war and the kind of thinking from DC which created it, and killed 58, 000 of us. And for what? But I have this value for human life which IMO, you simply do not share. Gotta call a spade a spade, man. And your are holding all spades in that hand you are trying to play.

Call me what you will, as I am too old to be bothered by it. And if calling it as I see it, is being self righteous, then so be it. I see it as wisdom, but you may call it what you want. I have always been only concerned with truth, and that drives me. I have always sought it, and will continue to do so. And being a rational american, my need for evidence to support claims, is in my dna or might as well be. But IMO, when and if I am ever wrong about something, and I discover this, I have no qualms about admitting it. Trouble is, some people, especially ideologues and partisans are not willing to admit when they are wrong, once the truth does come out. I have no use for these kind of folks, for I do value honesty and integrity, and value it greatly.

I love this nation, but refuse not to call out our gov't when they act like the evil people we fought in ww2. When we become similar to what we lost so many lives in fighting, it infuriates me. And that is exactly what my nation, because of its politicians, have become, with being enabled by people in your group. I indeed want my country to be a shining city on a hill, that operates with a moral compass, that actually represents the average citizen, over 300 million of us, and that wants to set an exemplar example to the sh*t holes of this world, to be emulated in the interest of the highest good. And yet the example we have set for such a long time, we had best hope no other nation emulates that example. Heaven help us if everyone acts like us. And it pains me to say this, even as I am so disapointed in my own nation and what it does as a matter of course. They are not acting in the best interests of americans.

Anyways man, I have nothing personal against you. I mean it. We just could not be farther apart on these foreign policy issues. And apparently we both have strong beliefs, views, opinions on these things. And thank god at least as of today, americans can strongly disagree, for we have that right. But calling another american a russian troll because of disagreement is just the wrong thing to do. And being human, imperfect, makes me want to wallow in that whale shi*t with you and others when in fact I much prefer not to do it.

 

And when it comes down to it, 'One Mind'....I have nothing against you either. It is true that we seem to be far apart on things relating to foreign policy, but I agree with your assessment on our beliefs & rights as Americans. And though I know that there are indeed Russian trolls at work on this forum, I can accept the fact that you are not one of them, and so will resist the urge to label you as such!
