Russia responds with harsh words but no fire

My logic is sound. Americans cry their little eyes out when a couple of 100 of them die for geopolitical games and eventually they surrender and go home. Countless of examples on that one.

 

Why should Russia respond? No military bases has been destroyed, no people killed.
Of course, Putin could launch the missiles somewhere to the North Pole, but why to waste money? As this is what Trump did- wasted money launching the missiles in the nowhere.

 

The US would never have done that in the cold war. That is one of the reasons we are in a far more dangerous position now than we were in the cold war.

 

It's a matter of not caring vs caring how many soldiers die. Russians don't care. Americans do.

There are those who appear to have been clever enough not to have stated it in such an obvious manner but rather painted the picture quite well nonetheless with posted images of American cities destroyed under a barrage of Russian missiles.
'Destroyer of Illusion' is one whose contributions come quickly to mind....there's no denying that such presentations hint at the same result without committing it to writing!

Your alarmist howling notwithstanding, I don't buy into your fearful assessment of Moscow's certain response. It is doubtful that Russia would see a defeat in Syria as any more of an "existential threat" than what they experienced during the collapse of the Soviet Union, and it is equally as doubtful that the Putin regime would risk their own annihilation by the idiotic use of such weapons simply to save Assad's ass or to save face. You can continue to drop big worry tears on your pillow at night in your self-inflicted nightmare but most of us can't help but laugh at your hysteria!

As a man who fought an enemy equipped with Russian equipment I have some knowledge of their weaponry. The AK47 developed in the 1940's and still the main infantry weapon of the Russians. It is worthless at more than 200 meters and a skilled marksman can hardly put 10 rounds inside a pie plate at 100 meters. In contrast, the US has upgraded it's main military rifle 4 times since WWII. Our weapons are extremely accurate and can kill at over a thousand meters. Russian tanks are also still basically the same as the WWII version. They have manually operated turrets and it takes a man with 15" biceps to move it. During the battle of Norfolk in the Gulf war 750 Soviet tanks were destroyed, in contrast 5 American tanks were destroyed. Their aircraft is more of the same.

The fact is all their conventional war equipment is low tech and of old in design. Russia knows a conventional war with the US would be a slaughter. Therefore they do everything possible to avoid one. While I have no firsthand knowledge, I see no reason to believe that their nuclear weapons would be any better.
