I don't recall they made threats the first time.

Pff... with the US letting their POWs being tortured all over the planet, and support Saudi Arabia bombing civilians all over Jemen.... lol

Gee, for days now we heard Russia would shoot down any aircraft or missile that dared threaten it's good friend Syria. Now we see the US and Allies not only destroyed their targets with impunity, one of those targets was on the outskirts of Damascus. All targets destroyed, all planes returned, the Russians were spotted hiding under their beds.

The US showed that they have the ability to operate at will anywhere in Syria. Again Putin shows to be all hat and no cattle.

Trump and Putin played chicken, and Putin has blinked.

now we know we can attack Syria's military without any repurcussions from Russia

Your source doesn't refute a thing I said. If anything it corroborates what I said:

That right there is one reason why governments use mercs instead of regular forces.

I still don't recall Russia making threats to the US the first time. I do recall Russia basically closing the Syrian airspace for the US, by ending the talks of where Russian jets are flying and where they are shooting their missiles at, making it impossible for the US to do the same since they were scared of being hit by Russian crossfire.

And we also have noticed now that the US and co are to scared to have targeted any site where Russians are present.

If our mercs are in the employ of our government supporting government operations and officials an attack on them might be treated the same as an attack on our regular military forces. It depends entirely on their mission.

By the way, Blackwater no longer exists:

They are still mercs, who are not part of the Russian army serving Russia, but serving somebody elses agenda for their wallet.
That is what my source says.

LOL - Your source said they're serving Russia's agenda.

There's nothing unusual or extraordinary about that. As I pointed out earlier, this is entirely consistent with how governments employ mercs.

The fact that they are mercs and you can not pin this on the Russian government.
You need to prove this, where I can't prove a negative.

They had the US rather cornered by refusing to tell the US where they were shooting the missiles from and towards what,... making it impossible for them to accomplish anything... and so the Russians get to do in Syria what they want at the expense of the terrorists that the US support.

Them are questions you need to answer, not me.

I am aware they had changed there name. A change of name does not make one disappear. They are hard at work killing in Yemen. Chris Hedges said he was wondering where the private army was for American Fascism which he sees as being brought to the US through the Christian Right when Jeremy Scahill told him it is already there, Blackwater now called Academi.
