I saw a dog playing with a fox on youtube.

But I thought dogs chase and try to kill foxes?

Anti-socialist goes to renowned doctor in a socialist country for treatment. How few neurons firing does it take to equate that to some kind of hypocrisy?

Then people like me get to go dig up things like this:

    https://www.fraserinstitute.org/sites/default/files/leaving-canada-for-medical-care-2015.pdf

Wonder how many Americans travel North annually to avail themselves of Canadian medicine? Bet it's not 52,000 (520,000 or so population adjusted).

If you don't know anything about Canada's system don't post.

    Maybe it wasn't grandfathered....but it's a private hospital...that much is true

    So it is.

While Shouldice Hernia Hospital is privately owned — like many Canadian hospitals — it receives a majority of its funding from the Ontario government and accepts the Ontario’s Hospital Insurance Plan.

Rand is still a hypcrite for going there.

Incidentally, it goes to show that quality health care absolutely can be maintained with government funding and insurance involved, and helps dispell the myth of the "free market" being absolutely superior.

"Readers are likely familiar with the Shouldice name. Founded in 1945 by Dr. Earl Shouldice, the private, for-profit hospital has been offering the finest in hernia care to not only Ontarians but also to patients from all over the globe.

“Grandfathered” in 1973 under a special provision in the Private Hospitals Act, Shouldice has continued to operate at its Thornhill, Ont. location with one foot inside the Ontario health care system and one foot outside. Going there for hernia surgery is so commonplace, even the socialists’ socialist, the late former federal NDP Leader Jack Layton, chose Shouldice for his hernia surgery a few years back."

"Shouldice is one of the few private, for-profit medical centres in the province and receives government funding.

Ontario outlawed for-profit hospitals in 1973, but exempted existing facilities like the Shouldice, which specializes in hernia operations."

Doesn't matter - as has been pointed out Canada's system isn't socialized. There are many private clinics and most doctors are self employed.

Canada has a national health care system. If Doug_yvr does not want to it admit it yet call it something else, then we can get ourselves a Canada-style NHS in America, yet.

This was all over the leftie web pages today. How stupid. One of their own viciously attacks Rand Paul causing serious health problems requiring surgery and the lefties are attacking him for going to a hospital in Canada where he is paying cash. #fakenews

There's no reason the taxpayers of any country should pay for the health care of a non-citizen or for illegal aliens.

Paul is apparently paying full freight, as it should be. Most likely he thinks his odds of a good outcome are highest where he is putting down his money.

His neighbor will probably pay eventually, however, as it should be.

    Non-sense backwards logic.

I'll bet you a million dollars the majority of "funding" they recieve is in the form of payment for services from the Canadian Health Insurance.

Meaning... they own a private hospital in a socialist medicine country and this SERVE people with government insurance.

I see. You claim the right to tell me what my healthcare ought to look like, though you don't know me. Hypocritical, moralizing, busybody statists annoy me the most, so I say screw you. I'll post what I want. If you can't actually answer what I said, then don't answer at all.

The far right has no idea how national health care works.

The far right does not realize they are the minority in our representative republic.

So I say, 'screw em', if they can't take a joke.

They are going to find out.

No, I am sorry this is very complex for you. He was attacked by a leftist terrorist in his yard in KY. He is getting follow up surgery related to that attack in a private hospital. Nothing for him to worry to much about since the liberal terrorist will be paying for it
