For people not from the US Aljazeera has a report/film on the reporting of this from the US and how they are not reporting it but instead dissing him

    http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/listeningpost/2013/06/20136211641186227.html

and how there hardly is any independence to speak of in US Journalism any more - without that where are your civil liberties.

I was listening to an ex CIA today. He is glad that this is happening. He was speaking about how a journalist in the US had confronted Glen Greenwald for reporting on this story. Greenwald said 'but I am a journalist' and the US reporter said, 'that is the question, are you' or something similar. The CIA man said, 'now that is fascist'. I guess if you have been programmed to believe civil liberties are a danger to this country and thinking any way but the accepted way is a danger to this country, well I guess maybe it is too late.

They were also talking about how amazing it is that the US has everything tapped but it does not know where Snowden is despite being so upset that it has been threatening people if they help him. The CIA said it was because Snowden had wikileaks behind him. He said it is a fight between the US apparatus which has absolutely everything and talent and he thought it was a good match. Wikileaks for instance got Snowden a refugee passport so that he could fly to Moscow.

He also said that many people are saying the US's days are over and to his mind, if wikileaks wins and Snowden finds Asylum, they are right. Perhaps that is why they US is worried....and I know it will not be fun for him but he did it for conscience.

John Keane, author The Life and Death of Democracy, thinks Assange may be the 21st C Tom Paine

See? You are being intimidated by your government.

    You're in fear of them.

Sounds to me, like the terrorists have won.

And now you're going to get a repressive government just like the old Soviet Union, where the political class gets to spy on everyone else while they're enriching themselves on the backs of everyone else's labor.

And you, sir, are unwilling to lift a finger about any of this, because you feel intimidated.

Ballantine, that was meant to be ironic..... however truthful it may be.

The missus and I have been going back and forth on this all weekend. I think Snowden is a patriot...the missus, not so much.

Frankly, I hope he gives the feds the red ass.....

He's not running from assassins. He's running from justice because he broke his legal agreements and betrayed his country. He is a traitor. That you speak well of treason, betrays your own character or lack thereof.

God I hope so. I mean, it's not the most disgusting thing Abu has said, but it would rank up there.

It' s wrong. In his country, Putin said to Snowden "if you want stay in Russia, don' t talk about american' s secret!". But now he can leave for go in Venezuela i think. He talked about american secrets like Julian Assange? Coz' russians, Israel, France, Britain don' t have spys? LOL.
But one thing is sure, if he come back in USA he will go in prison. Why he opened american' s secrets? USA are an empire. Like every empire in history, they use bad methods sometimes. Everyone knows that american secret service gived weapons and money to ukrainian' rebels (they organise orange revolution). Everyone american government wanted throw nuclear bomb on Vietnam in 70' s. Everyone knows american government didn' t need make the war in Irak and kill Saddam Hussein who did all what Bush jr wanted.

I think american government is a mafia. And american people suffer coz' this mafia makes fake money for buy treasures funds and rent monopoly' s money. People must kill the banks put big boss in prison and throw out the government (same in France and in Occident everywhere). Assange and Snowden gived these secrets to anyone. And they were right, we must know mafia' s methods.

Russia grants US whistle-blower 1-year temporary asylum

1.11pm BST 1.8.2013, NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden has left Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport, according to Reuters.

WikiLeaks, which has been helping Snowden since he revealed his identity as the man whose leaks to the Guardian about US surveillance caused shockwaves around the world, has been tweeting about Snowden's leaving the airport. • Screenshot

Edward Snowden has thanked Russia for granting him temporary asylum which allows him to leave Moscow airport where he has been inside the transit zone since June. The US has labelled Russia's decision to grant asylum to fugitive intelligence leaker Edward Snowden as "extremely disappointing", according to BBC News US denounces Snowden's Russian asylum "White House spokesman Jay Carney said: "We're extremely disappointed that the Russian government would take this step despite our very clear and lawful requests in public and in private to have Mr Snowden expelled to the United States to face the charges against him and Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer considers Russia's decision was a "stab in the back"

In past, USA did a lot of stab in the back of Russia too... But it was cold war and Russia did same... Are we sure cold war is finished? The CIA has armed, organized and financed the Orange Revolution in Ukraine, as it has also funded and armed the Georgian army in the Caucasus ... Coz crappy banksters want oil and gas everywhere on earth. They ready to make war for That.

the cold war has never been finished, I can tell you. Strangely enough, it involves more parties to participate: china, japan, the EU and all of them are strong
