They don't act like Fascists. That is silly, to put it politely.
    https://ratical.org/ratville/CAH/fasci14chars.html

Republicans have been edging closer to fascism since Nixon.

No dictator, I don't think any human culture has ever had nothing for governance, the closest thing I can think of is tribal living in that there would be small groups of people who all had a say in how they go about their daily lives together. Of course this would still develop into a hierarchy and then a government with authority to make decisions for the 'greater good'.

Nothing wrong with questioning authority though.

Very interesting. Thanks for the links and info.

I wonder in the following quote by Barry Goldwater, if he was referring to evengelicals mostly or Christians in general?

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAAegQIARAB&usg=AOvVaw0_FRE3RLyJMPJh1VUUT2ic

"Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them".

Compromise??? Since I first started taking a serious interest in politics in the early seventies Democrats have defined compromise as "We get everything we want in exchange for a promise to give you some tidbit of itwhat you want somewhere down the road only down the road never happens. Goldwater proved to be less than a prophet.

Huh, didn't realize that little 4 year blip of Jimmy Carter during the nearly 20 straight years of Republican government control was so successful... Oh wait it wasn't.

From '70 to today (50 years) Republicans have been in control for 30 of those years.

Seems to me Republicans have been doing a lot of winning. How come you're not happy?

The failed presidencies of Reagan, Bush (Shrub), and Trump hardly being anything to be proud about. Perhaps that's why Dems have won the popular vote in 7 of the last 8 presidential elections.

Steve Schmidt: "The Republican Party is an organized conspiracy for the purposes of maintaining power for self-interest and the self-interest of its donor class. There is no fidelity to the American ideal or American democracy."
Good on Steve Schmidt for taking on the freedom-hating right and their anti-American agenda of MAKING AMERICA AT THIRD-W0RLD COUNTRY AGAIN.

Pretty hilarious. Trump is following our constitutional process which evidently democrats think is outrageous. Democrats want to change our democracy directly by eliminating the EC, packing the court, etc..

You can replace Republican with Democratic and have the same reality. Only Trump as an outsider whom was never beholden to the donor class and threatened the donor class directly.

With all due respect between 2932 and 1992 the Dems held the house often with veto proof majorities they also hel the Senate more often than not. And until Reagan the only difference between Republicans and Democrats were complaints about the deficit though they voted in favor of raising it as often as not.

One would replace Republican with Democratic if one resides in an alternate reality of the Worst President Ever Donnie; a big, fat, lazy, good-for-nothing corporate welfare queen and grifter who has lived his enter worthless life on the government dole. Heck, Comrade Donnie pays more income taxes to his beloved communist China than to the good ole USA, USA, USA.

    Senator Sanders:
While Trump paid just $750 in U.S. federal income taxes in 2017, he has paid: - $188,561 in taxes to China - $156,824 in taxes to the Philippines - $145,400 in taxes to India - $15,598 in taxes to Panama And Trump wants us to believe he puts America first? What a hypocrite!

LOL, Trump paid millions in income tax and that liberal narrative has been debunked. Funny how the democrats are never interested how a congress critter can get rich will 'serving the public'.

Yeah our multi-party system sure is a drag... There are plenty of countries you can go to without democracy if you like.

I wonder, if those Dem majorities were due to the sensible voting practices of those like my father. He always voted republican for president and democrat for congress, not sure about the senate (I've said this before) because he liked checks and balances, didn't believe in granting the 'rubber stamp' to one party. See as WWII and Korean war vet he thought a one party system, like it seems the right wants, isn't democracy.

Like it seems the right wants? You really silly enough to think the left doesn't? And given that today's Democratic has little in common with your Dad's democratic party. Why would any rational person want anything to do with the party of Nancy Pelosi?

Oh man give Pelosi a break, the only thing you don't like about her is she is a woman and one with a voice. The right has hated her just for being a woman but then she has intelligence and power too... Oh the horror... Such... A... Nightmare.

Same with Hillary, the Republican d-heads just ignored her when she was a senator and presented her findings on global warming, an action assigned to her by GWB himself, when she said (paraphrased, can't find it in Google too many 2015/16 entries) "We have the technology and the unemployed workforce to build sustainable energy sources". Seriously, I watched this on C-Span and I think the microphones actually picked up the republican's collective eye-rolls.

Because of her gender more even than their denial of global warming, now called climate change because of republican inaction.

Yeah, my dad was old school and his ashes are probably swirling in his urn right now because of what both parties have become.

And because he would be absolutely disgusted with Donald Trump.

Now go bury you head in your Bible and pray to your God to make women livestock again.

Those right wing Christians practice a very strange brand of Christianity, one in which living in a war zone is perfectly acceptable with at least 100 shot and killed everyday and at least another 200 shot and wounded. They evidently do not believe in thou shalt not kill.

Sorry we try to stay out of blue cities. They're too dangerous. You know the place where they're cutting funding for the police and still want them to enforce all their idiotic gun laws that have done little beyond increasing the carnage.

and the Dems were wrong too. The Republicans turned it up tenfold

Bottom line as long as both parties do this crap the country suffers as the pendulum just swings back and forth with no end in sight
