The ALMOST ENTIRELY MUSLIM Chechens, are seeking their independencem BECAUSE they are MUSLIM.

Yeah, it might be a bit of a wash for them. They're still ethnic and religious minorities, and Muslims were the 2nd most loyal voting bloc to the Democratic Party in 2013 (behind only blacks), so this is clearly a group the left is going to have to defend.
