Yup. I saw about 5 min of one of those kiddie pageant shows and was pretty disturbing. Who does that to their kids?

 

It's freaky that there actually exists a circuit of these shows and parents spend small fortunes on costumes, hair dressers, voice coaches and travel.
They're little kids. Let them be little kids. Look how the Jackson's turned out after touring as children.

I condemn him for it, and I condemn all such actors. A child is not only physically immature but also mentally ill prepared for sexual behavior that I could never quite understand why they go there.

 

So, Ted Cruz is not a pedophile like Joe Biden is.

This whole thing seems like a ridiculous situation to me.

We know the film has been available for some time, apparently without anyone raising any concern. The controversy was only invented when Netflix put out a poster (and we all know movies posters rarely accurately reflect the content of the actual film) which caught a few random comments on Twitter. Hack "journalists" saw the opportunity for cheap copy and made "news" stories out of those tweets. A whole bunch of other people read those stories and, knowing literally nothing else about the film, exploded in a mess of rhetoric, assumption, projection and outright lies for their own benefit. A couple of politicians (or their staff) see something trending and look to hitch a lift on an apparently popularist bandwagon, also without knowing (or caring to find out) the difference between fact and fiction.

We're now a long way away from the actual film, one few if any of the people commenting (from any position) have seen or even read up on. So now we have Netflix being accused of promoting child pornography, which would be laughable if it wasn't so serious. If this is child pornography, that would mean the same footage featuring adult actors would still be pornography and we've condemned thousands of films, TV shows and sporting events.

If anyone has an objection to the actual contents of the film or the marketing material around it, they're perfectly entitled to explain what those objections are. I find it telling that so few people are willing to put in that effort in favour of the easy option of just joining the mobs screaming rhetoric at predetermined enemies.

 

A freaking catalog of children's clothing is "wanking material for perverts." Want to outlaw those as well?

 

Sometimes, you just have to wonder about what drives progressive folk to return time and again to pervy sex. You have the Democrat in the CA legislature trying to rewrite statutory rape, Netflix comes out with Teenage Twerking Freakshow, and progressives are defending them both.

What is it about the progressive mind that demands that they get to take out their sexual uncompetitiveness on underage kids?

 

I honestly can't see how anyone could justify this movie what so ever, especially since we still have a major issue today with a child sex slave trade in this world! Supporting this trash only should be criminal.

 

What is it about you that you see children dancing and automatically think about sex?

Which scenes in the film did you particularly object to? What was your opinion of the overall story and message it told? And what does it have to do with the child sex trade?

 

They film makers say they agree and they’re trying to bring attention to the problem.

 

BTW, I've refused to watch it because there mere descriptions are disgusting so I'm relying on what others have posted after reviewing.

There is twerking, body thrusting the floor, an 11 year old child snapping photos of her genitalia or maybe the close ups of 11 year crotch and buttocks.

Apparently there is a scene where Amy realizes that a relative found out she stole their phone, Amy panics and attempts to get it back from him. She shows him the crop top she is wearing and begins to unbutton her pants. He becomes angry at this and pushes her away, asking her what she is doing. Amy grabs the phone from him and runs into the bathroom, where she locks the door, pulls down her pants and underwear, and takes a picture of her crotch. She then posts the picture on social media.

You really wanting to defend this garbage?!?

That's my point. What are the motives of those you're getting these descriptions from? The tabloid media out to stir up controversy for profit? Reactionaries trying to make the most extreme claims for attention? Politicos trying to spin this in to an attack on whatever their preferred target is?

If you're not willing to commit to watching it yourself before attacking and condemning it (or indeed defending it) and least seek out more neutral and balanced reports (plural) of what it actually depicts and try to take a calm and rational approach to what you're told.

Remember, this film has been released for some time, seen by lots of different people and certified in a number of different countries yet only triggered any kind of objection or controversy after Netflix put out their poster. I believe that if they'd used the original poster but done everything else the same, we wouldn't even be talking about this now. Are you certain it is really as bad as you're being told to believe it is?

 

Easy, if people whom actually reviewed it list these findings, do you really want to watch an 11 year take a snap shot of her genitals to get confirmation? No thanks!

Sorry, if you believe in monetizing child sexual abuse, I can't help you. What about 9-11 yo girls exhibiting this kind of behavior do you find is either artistic, or artful, or "dancing"? I don't judge, but there are, actually, laws in this country about what is considered criminal sexual abuse of a minor. That there will be jurisdictions in this country that are going to file against Neflix is not in doubt. And yet, why do you support the showing of this?
