That explains a lot about half the posts here at PF.

We've all watched high-ons bumble through life. Now, we may know why.

Well, this explains Obama's stupidity and the stupidity of his minions.

Maybe now the pot heads will at least admit to their stupidity.

    Cannabis smoking 'permanently lowers IQ'

Pot smokers are usually not too bright, especially habitual users. This is not exactly news if you know a user well. I have a cousin who over the course of thirty years I have watched become progressively stupid. Pretty sad seeing as he was a fairly bright young man early on in life.

Really now? What's worse here, that they needed a study or that people really didn't get that years ago?

We might as well legalize it regardless, it's not known to be dangerously addictive or cause violent behavior in its users, so we'd do better just to legalize and regulate it like we do with alcohol - but yeah there's no real reason to touch the stuff.

Alcohol also has a long term negative effect on IQ and mental stability.

Tobacco has similar effects due to the effects it has on blood circulation in the long term.

Not known to cause violent behavior... usually. There was that crazy guy that eat the other dude's face off down in Fla. recently. He wasn't doing "bath salts" or meth or any of the usual culprits of crazy as initially reported. The autopsy showed that all he had in his system was just some weed. I never met anyone stoned on weed that wanted to eat someone else's face but hey, I guess if you're nuttier than hell already, anything is possible.

    Deaths per 100,000 population:

    Accidents (unintentional injuries) 38.4
    Salmonella infections 26
    Nontransport accidents 25.7
    Whooping cough 15
    Drug-induced deaths 12.8
    Intentional self-harm (suicide) 12.0
    Motor Vehicle Accidents 11.8
    Alcohol-induced deaths 8.0
Intentional self-harm (suicide) by discharge of firearms 6.1
Assault (homicide) by discharge of firearms 3.7

You are 3.5 times more likely to die of using drugs than being killed by someone with a gun.

You are 2.2 times more likely to die of a drinking too much Alcohol than being killed by someone with a gun.

So let's recap, liberals want to legalize drugs that they are 3.5 time more likely to die from and take away guns that they are 3.5 times LESS likely to die from.

Yeah, I read that weed enhances the affects of schizophrenia or psychotic mental illness in people who already suffer from such an illness, but other than that - it's not on the same level as PCP or meth.

This thread is about marijuana. It is physically impossible to overdose from smoking marijuana. Literally, impossible.

It's not impossible to get stoned and drive your car into a bridge abutment.

This is just common sense, introducing any psychoactive drug to a developing brain is a bad idea. Now, that being said, I know plenty of people who started smoking pot occasionally as adults who lead perfectly normal lives, some of whom are quite successful and I would say brighter than most people on this forum. Everyone's different.

The jokes and portrayals of idiot stoners in the media is ipso facto proof of the effects of long term marijuana use on the brain cells. Nobody laughs or tells stoner stories over and over and over again without the underpinnings of the truth to prop up the stereotypes.

Lumping pot in with meth and heroin is incredibly stupid, it's about as damaging as bourbon.

But you can do that with alcohol to. And no one is trying to get that banned, not after the disaster that was prohibition.

Stereotypes, in general, have a basis in observed common wisdom. They are usually decent tools absent any other information. To not use them is PC foolishness. I stereotype EVERY pitbull I encounter.

It's not impossible to do that with alcohol, Dramamine, cough medicine, or ambien either. We should make those illegal too. Hell, it can happen when your tired. Clearly driving when your tired should be illegal too.

    Really?

    Drug-induced deaths 12.8
    Alcohol-induced deaths 8.0

Take it up with the CDC if you disagree.

I'm assuming that's including prescription drugs.

    Nevertheless, why not legalize both?

If you don't like guns, don't buy one.

If you don't like drugs, don't do them.

Once again... it is physically impossible to overdose on marijuana.

Edit. Impossible to overdoes from smoking it. You can overdose from eating it, but you'd have to have a lot of money to spare, and with the amount you'd have to eat it would have to be on purpose. It would never happen by accident.
