Type me an answer to this question.

Who is the president of the United States?

Stop pretending you don’t understand what I’m typing. It’s pathetic.

Using straight electrical votes, Wyoming has a population of ~580K while having three electorial votes, California has a population of ~39MM while having 55 electoral votes. “Distributing the electoral vote evenly among each state’s residents show that individual votes from Wyoming carry 3.6 times more influence, or weight, than those from California.” So for every vote in Wyoming to be offset 3.6 people have to vote in California. This is further exacerbated when you take the percentage of voters in each state that actually vote.

    One huge problem.

    Then a question.

First Wyoming voters play a role confined to their own state.

CA voters also play the same role.

    Take Wyoming. Trump won.

    Take Virginia Hillary won

    https://www.nytimes.com/elections/2016/results/president

In VA, hillary got less than half the votes. She did not get less than half the EC, she got all of the votes. 13 to be clear. Trump got none.

She got 5 percent more votes than Trump yet he got zero EC.

In Wyoming all Trump got was 3 electoral college votes. And he took 68 percent of those votes.

To make it even, should he have got 13 EC votes from Wyoming to be fair?

To make it even the electoral college should be disbanded.

One citizen should equal one vote not 3.7 if you’re standing in an empty field and 0.3 if you are standing in the middle of a crowded city.

The only popular vote you have is in your state and you are not even guaranteed that vote. After that the STATES choose the President. Basic American Civics 101.

If they are not getting off those arse's of their own volition I don't want them to vote. Anyone who has to be encouraged to vote, shouldn't be voting.

    One-liner nonsense!

A TV commercial is no right to propose bullshat! "Vote for me cuz I got a good-looking spouse and three beautiful kids !!!!"

Political content is key to any elective post. Content is key. Content is key. And one must know how to communicate that key necessity of any elected official.

So, look at the parties, and the BS they promote to get candidates elected - which also pay for the propaganda on the BoobTube ... !

We are not a True Democracy, never have been, and never were intended to be. So why don't you go surrender to someone you French swine and mind your own damn business. Pure democracy is the worst kind of government imaginable. I suspect you guys don't even have it, but have never cared enough (nor thought it any of my business) to look into it.

Who the f**k is "US"? You've already stated, on multiple occasions, that you are French. Therefore, whomever POTUS is has NOTHING to do with you, and doesn't represent you in any way. Mind your business.

Why is this thread still going? The EC isn't going anywhere. I'm guessing most of the states that are converting to "popular vote" will change their minds after the next presidential election, especially if they vote Republican and the state house throws the votes to the Democrat.

Bahahahaha! Obama got elected to office by not saying a ******ned thing. His campaign was entirely content free. If he had run on the issues, he would have lost by a landslide. Instead he ran on "hope and change".

    *shrugs*

We don't care. The Constitution was designed the way it was to make sure large states like California could not ignore the wishes of small states like Wyoming. (At the time, it was Virginia and Delaware, but the principle still holds.) You might as well bitch about the fact that California only gets two senators while Wyoming also gets two senators. If you want more senators and electoral votes, split into more states, but then northern California might well vote Republican, reducing California's outsize Democratic influence on the country.

    We know you don’t care.

And why that may have been the *official* reason for the electoral college there are numerous other reasons why it it was instituted. Slavery, the founders not believing the average voter could have the necessary information to elect the president, equal states representation. They also didn’t have a technology that could transmit data around the world with the push of a button. Plus only white male landowners could vote.

Stating fact and disagreeing with parts of a 200 year old document due to actual logical concerns isn’t bitching. A system that could potentially put a president into office after receiving less than a quarter of the votes is flawed to its core.
