There are problems though. To begin, the Sahara once WAS green, at least most of it. And the reason it's not anymore is changing wind patterns, particularly in the great monsoons of the Indian Ocean, and any scheme that doesn't take these into account is probably not going to work

To my thinking adding desalinated water to the water table of desert nations may be one of the only ways to divert.......

True..... we only have to turn some parts of it green, preferably some portions on the mainland side of significant hills or mountains so that the water flows downward in depleted water tables and raise them.

Dr. James Hansen has stated that the last time that world temperatures rose by three degrees, ocean levels rose by twenty meters over four centuries.

That is a one meter rise every twenty years and we don't seem to be making very logical plans for this sort of scenario.

Japan is an island and they seem to be taking this probability much more seriously.

Well "they" should take lessons from the Dutch who have practiced hegemony
    on the Atlantic for centuries.
I understand Venice did have Dutch consultants regarding their new sea level surge gates.

Speaking of the Dutch, the shortest Europeans 200 years ago are now the tallest Euro population.
Back in the day they administered the Royal Inquisitors sent by Spain out of a job

    Inquisitors sent by who.
you have documents to support that
we have inquisitor residency requirements in the Netherlands
be sure to register your residential address with the residential address bureau so we can help get you involved in the business of inquisitors just as fast as we can. . . . . please take a seat over there

And something like that is how the Dutch confounded the Royal Inquisitors circa 1500.
    Funnier still, it worked.
And for FREEDOM sake, Only The Dike Master could require a person out of their home and comforts.
No other gov't administration had such martial power.
The Articles of Confederation were founded on the Netherlands Confederation plan but, too cumbersome for the reality of America.

The Dutch lead the way on coastal preservation and FREEDOM too.
What are y'gonna do with Protestants, Sephardi Jews, Roman Catholics, Ashkenazim Jews.
Four populations who are not thrilled about living around the other three.
Then there was, Coffee, Chocolate, Sugar and owning shares in a ship's cargo -
:woot: if your money is good, who cares your label. Viva the Dutch. They got it first, for Euros.

Good points........... but this plant in Israel proves that it is possible to economically desalinate ocean water which............ puts less pressure on those dikes in Holland.

In your opinion do you think that Hoosier8 does a good job of describing this in his reply # 13 here?

I heard a little bit about this from a Grade 12 Geology teacher and this sure sounds like a good explanation to me.......... but I have to admit that my understanding of this is minimal!

This is an encouraging update on a project that could be combined with Sahara Forest Project technology.

Hey..... this is another significant reason why large scale desalination of ocean water thousands of miles away may actually be a good response to this problem?!

The threat of a polar shift might motivate some people?!

Why are so many people on the forum incapable of posting a competent, legitimate poll? I guess they figure if they give options that are only what they want then they win. That level of stupidity and pointlessness is difficult to understand anyone possesses.

I suppose I should start a poll that is:

Do you support the Sahara Project?

Yes, I want the world economy to go broke and a billion people to starve to death.
No, I do not want to destroy the world economy and kill a billion people.

    Cast your vote.

    LOL!

On the other hand...... the Sahara Forest Project and the Sahara Solar Breeder Project could turn out to be the least expensive way to LOWER ocean levels thirty centimeters/ one foot....... and give ourselves a buffer zone in case of rapid cracking and sliding of ice on either the West Antarctic Ice Sheet or Greenland?!

The Sahara Forest Project has been initiated by Norway..... The Sahara Solar Breeder Project has been initiated by Japan.......... but Americans in New Orleans and Florida can sure benefit from what they have found out already about this new technology.

Based on what is shown to be happening in this other thread:

    http://www.politicalforum.com/middl...-demand-end-support-occupation-palestine.html

Jews of Conscience protest and demand end of support for the occupation of Palestine!
"Liberation Seder" Protests in NYC, Boston, Chicago, D.C. and SF

    ...........

it is time NOW for a plan to be put forward that will result in:
    1. MONEY BEING MADE ABUNDANT
    2. THE DESERTS OF THE ISLAMIC NATIONS BEING TURNED GREEN, with both low tech as well as high tech methods........... but the key can well be the money?!

New Orleans is in a bowl between the Gulf of Mexico, lake pontchartrain, and the Mississippi River.

Well Zimbabwe has been a manure country since its' birth from Rhodesia.

Besides trees being good carbon and water policy
they don't behave as "thermal sinks" as concrete, tile, asphalt do and
they prevent radical temperature swings as in deserts.

Dr. Chaim Henry Tejman has said the same thing.

I certainly am in agreement with Dr. Tejman that trees will play a vital role in climate stabilization!

I wonder, to what degree the ancestors of the residents of New Orleans moved there partly because it was a place where their rivals did not want to go?!

The fact that so many Acadian FRench moved to Louisiana is one part of the larger picture.

They lived in New Orleans because the Mississippi River was the main artery of a growing nation. Sometimes I wonder about you.

Do you really think the Saraha Project will change the Bay of Fundy or leave Venice on dry land?

It's good to produce more food, yes. BUT -- linking it to all this "climate change" propaganda is nonsense.

Consider: (and I've posted this about 1,000 times) Carbon Dioxide makes up approximately 0.04% of the atmosphere of the Earth. For those of you who were unfortunate enough to have been "educated" in American pubic "schools" in the last 30 years, that is ZERO POINT ZERO FOUR PERCENT, or, four one-hundredths of one percent. Utterly microscopic!

In addition, Carbon Dioxide is a natural organic compound that is necessary for life on this planet! But some bunch of whacko hyperliberals want to triple your utility bills to flush money down fraudulent scam-holes, like Obama's darling project, Solyndra -- remember? :cynic: -- "Yer gettin' dangerously close to being a RACIST by sayin' stuff like that!"

[IMG]. "Holy crap! I found one! I just spotted a Carbon Dioxide molecule! Red alert! Red alert! Call the White House!"
