The honour bestowed (according to the historic event in the film) isn't centered round the mode of battle-method. I think you can understand that. In any case, (according to the film as I must remind you) honour was in the eyes of the Zulus, not yours or mine.

How can you know they were even honouring them?

I'm serious, forgive my ignorance. Elaborate, I'm interested in that part of history and I know you've got info ...(forget the film)

You are probably the last person on this forum that I would have thought could miss the obvious particularly since I've specifically worked to avoid this very situation by being demonstratively clear more than once.

    No he's a soldier.

As for honour? There' never was or will be 'honour' during a battle and it doesn't matter if it's fought with firearms or stone tipped spears. A battle is kill or be killed, nothing else matters. Honour, if or when displayed at all is reserved for those periods when there is time for that luxury i.e. before the battle starts and/or after the outcome has been decided (or at least the fighting has otherwise ceased, even if only temporarily). Everything else is just butchery.

On Rorke's Drift? Part of the reason so many VCs were awarded (not that they were undeserved BTW the troops there performed brilliantly) was politics and public relations. The British Government was desperate to spin/gloss over the disaster the day before before that was Isandlwana which was the worst defeat and public humiliation the Empire had suffered in 50 years! It's and oldie but a goodie, nothing like a bunch of heroes to distract the public from bad news. I mean lets face it, this move is still in the politicians play book today.

Yawn. We will see. One thing remains constant though. Russian propaganda is always lies. Always.

One thing that remains constant. Ukrainian propaganda is always lies. Always. As is Russian, Chinese, North Korean, and particularly American.

Not in your post but in another subsequent post. I know we disagree on some topics, but I doubt we disagree that war is butchery and should be avoided were ever possible. We owe that, if nothing else to all the fallen from previous wars. The lesson? Don't let this happen again.

It means learn from the past. Look long and hard at the outcomes war has produced for humanity and then try try as far as is possible to prevent it happening again.

For all their (manifest) ill's modern, democratic, capitalistic States don't make war on each other (a few bizarre instances like the soccer war of 1969 excepted)! Albeit even then you have to ask yourselves to what extent either of the governments involved in that war were truly democratic!! The point is though that history shows democratic, capitalistic states don't fight each other because voters (quite rightly) tend to object to being shot at if it can at all be avoided. They also tend to punish any government at election time that dared suggest they should!

Well quote it then, don't just make an unrelated point to an unrelated post.

OK, if you really need such a basic (1st grade level issue) issue separated into two posts I'll do so in the future. After all I wouldn't want you getting confused or anything.

Well, yes. I was only being coy. I am a war veteran myself from the 1970s and I've heard this, "Don't let it happen again" a million times since then. I've also been (as a civilian) living or visiting other nations at war such as Lebanon, Rhodesia, Iran, and Khmer Rouge Cambodia. I've also lived during the "Cold War" in Berlin and I've visited Auswtiz. So, you can imagine that I've heard "Don't let it happen again" or the derivative, "Never again!" a gazillion times. My question wasn't really a question but more a protest to those who utter those words but do nothing. So ..... what does it mean? Nothing at all.

Wouldn't have happened if the scumbags in Washington didn't inflict yet another Coup in 2014. Victoria Nuland needs to be disappear.
