U.S. businesses incentivize them to come and incentivize them to stay. What is your Dear Leader doing about that?

I do too, but I don't doubt that Mexico will start taking what is happening on their side of the border a lot more seriously if these tariffs actually go into effect.

I suggested a year ago to withhold all aid to Mexico (~$300MM/yr) until they began building a wall on their side. They could complete it on the cheap on their side. Tariffs might be used in the same way.

agree, I have always said, take away the job opportunities and they leave, during the bush crash, immigration dropped, make it a felony to knowingly hire an illegal and the issue is greatly reduced

could even confiscate their businesses like we do drug dealers.. that precedent has already been set

like I said, wishful thinking, they will just wait till Trump changes his mind like he always does from hour to hour

I was just praising him on his 5g china ban, then he says maybe not, hard telling what Trump will or will not do even if he says he will do it

What’s the matter? Afraid you’ll have to mow your own lawn for once like the rest of us?

He’s raided some businesses and tried to crack down on sanctuary cities. What would you advise Trump to do about businesses of hiring illegals and should it also apply to sanctuary cities?

And, the tariffs will increase to as much as 25% by October and then remain at that level until the corrupt, stinking Mexican government actually DOES something besides laugh at the rotten mess THEY have allowed to infest OUR country from THEIR side of the border! Good for Trump!

It doesn't go as far as sealing the border totally shut, but it may very well have the desired effect when Mexican businesspeople see what this is certainly going to do to their financial well-being! Hint: guess which country profits MUCH more from the current balance of trade situation between the U. S. and Mexico... go ahead, google it up!

The picture of Donald Trump and the scum-sucking radical Democrat rabble in the background is both powerful and ACCURATE. Oh, how I wish I could gather up every single illegal alien AND all these America-hating radical Democrats and march ALL of them out of the country at gunpoint, never to return! "The United States -- love it, or LEAVE it!" :flagus:

Probably nothing, but increasing US car prices might slow down sales a bit.
If we can't stop them, Mexico probably can't either.

I'm reminded of a thread on these forums about the intelligence of the people who support the president's policies

What we're talking about here isn't a disagreement on what's good and what's bad, but a complete lack of understanding for how tariffs work. A tariff is payed for by the consumer. When we raise these tariffs, we are not raising taxes on Mexicans, we are raising taxes on Americans.

It seems to me that the majority of people who support these higher tariffs do not understand this. I have yet to see a single person here make a logical argument for raising tariffs, all I have ever seen from anyone here is a lack of understanding of how tariffs work. I'm not saying there are no rational arguments for higher tariffs, however a misinterpretation of how tariffs work is not one of those rational arguments

Ben Shapiro is an individual who understands how tariffs work. If you're one of those people who doesn't see these tariffs as raising taxes on Americans, watch this video.

I think the people/party that choose to ignore the laws, the humanitarian crisis, and the opportunities to actually represent the American people here are the devicive ones.

Democrats and the Mexican govt claim to be benevolent and beneficial.

    Lets let them demonstrate this.

Gone is the post cold-war doctrine of passivity, allowing the 3rd world to suckle upon American benevolence.

Trump is that agent of change.

    I love it.

Dems are terrified. Its no longer 1993.

I'm ok with a 5% Tariff on Mexico, Taco Bells tacos are already cheap and a 5% Tariff on them will be like a Nickle.

The idea that Trump has ever prayed in his life is so foreign to me, that the only way I read the painting is that Trump was like a kid looking at a frog he had just caught...and starting to slowly squeeze his hands together.

And yet, are utterly silent about the employers paying them under the table to circumvent wage and tax laws. Very telling. Repugnant, but most telling.

It's a tax. I thought "you guys" would oppose it on principle.

Very telling and true to form, dontcha think? The reich-wing self-righteous, self-serving, self-deluded hypocrisy runs deep in this thread.

They support shifting other taxes to this tax.

It's not more tax, it's just different tax.

The real question is why the Left isn't happy with more tax.

And the question remains why the reich-wingers are happy with more tax.

Many products are manufactured abroad and then imported, stamped with "made in USA" and then packaged and sold as American produced products. Very often it is just the finished product that is "made in USA" which could just mean the little bit of plastic covering was produced in the USA

This sums up Brokeahontas' inept idiocy - and that of his worshippers - quite succinctly:
